Love how this video was posted 9 yrs ago and still in 2023 it's helped me sort out the low annoying squeaky noise the heater makes 👍🏻

I was looking for this video for the exact same reason, have bought a used motor to hopefully replace and stop the annoying squeaking!

Excellent Video. Note that this is the version with electronic climate control. For manual control versions, the blower resistor is located in the small panel screwed to the bottom of the blower motor unit. The red blower controller is not applicable to manually controlled HVAC systems.

So climatronic uses said red resistor but normal manual controls is the green resistor

Cheers, finally someone that just does the job, without faffing about, talking the ears of us, or doesn't understand how unclip a plug, the last guy I watched started by saying the hardest part of the job was taking to small plastic screws out, which only needed a half turn to come off, then proceeded to ..not being able unclip the plug, he had 2 things to do show where the plug is and unclip a loom plug .....he should have just pointed to the part and said it's there .....cheers mate perfect video best today, pity I was looking for the mk5 golf but still will subscribe

Here in Northern Europe those fans seem to die like flies as soon as it gets cold. Some three weeks ago that fan _sort of_ died on my 20+ years old Golf III. Then came back to life. Then died. I was driving to service, as it came back to life again.
In the service there already were at least three fans for Golfs of different ages and models. Mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with mine, so just left it as is, as spending around 80 Euros for no good reason wouldn't be reasonable, so the idea is "when it dies completely, then we'll find out what's wrong". Well... OK.
Worked for a week, then died, then reanimated as I was driving over tram rails, and car got shaken a bit. That happened twice. Seem to be a bad contact _somewhere,_ if only I knew where, damn it!

Same happened to me on my golf 5. I opened it myself, turned out its the motor brushes that wore out. easy fix saves you 80euros ;) I definitely lost an evening trying to open it without breaking it so take this advice as you will :D

In my case it turned out to be brushes, so had to replace it after all.
Around six months ago scrapped that car, because I was failing too, not just my car - had to switch to one with automatic gearbox due to issues with my spinal cord - my feet no longer can properly work a clutch. And now I got the typical issue, that has plagued AUDI climate system for several generations - valves (which some people call "balls" / "nuts" due to their shape) - when that valve get stuck, it suddenly starts blowing hot air, no matter what temperature is set. 🤣

Great tutorial BMAC...this is just what I needed as the bearings in my blower motor have failed and the unit is squealing big time.
Do you have any "vid-tutorials" on removing the air distribution housing because the flaps for controlling hot to cold/defrost are likely broken - I'd much prefer not to remove the IP/dash if possible, thank you!!!

On mine its different the resistor sit right under the blower and holds the blower itself in, had to removed the handbrake shrouding and armrest because of a stupid hidden screw, this looks like a better design as it looks to have Climate control on that car.

BMAC. great video sir. I have another question related to A/C. I recently started having trouble redirecting air flow from defrost to cabin cooling upper/lower/mixed, etc. I thought the manual control was the culprit so I replaced it but the problem still exists. Do I have to replace the entire A/C airbox in addition to the blower motor?

Hi. Hoping you or another viewer could help me with a problem.
I have the VW golf mk5 TDI with climatronic and I get no heat or cold air on any setting. I was told that the resistor needs replacing but when I look in the area where a lot of youtube videos say to look, I dont see it. I read on a forum that the resistor is in the blower itself. Can I take out the blower and replace the resistor or would the whole blower need replacing?
    Thanks

Lazaro Carreiro I'm told you're supposed to remove the whole inside dash, radio and and all junk to gain access to A.C. evaporator . mines broke and it's leaking freon from one of the tubes

    • @Si1983h
      @Si1983h 5 ปีที่แล้ว

You don’t, only if you need to change the motor, and even then, you only need to remove the three screws top and bottom and drop it down on the one side so as you can get to the motor connector, get the wiring harness out of the way and bend the bottom plastic brace out to free the motor.
