The wheel diameter is what limits this equation. Make the wheel 20” tall and you can hit 30mph on 36v dewalt packs. The problem with onewheels is that they are limited by their form factor. And if you bought a FM onewheel it’s also limited by tyrants who hate diy. I doubt you want to go faster. I was one of those people who say: I want my board to go freeway speed. After seeing in the video of the vesk, I am interested and love to see a video of you building one if possible.
With a spacer on the rear, you can do a 12s2p of 18650s, but you'd have to source a very small BMS. Or run without one. Using a 2p battery of higher output cells makes for a much better ride.
Awesome video!! Is there or will there be a Float XR ?? I'm hoping there will be, and I also hope it's around $1000 or less because that would really get heads turning! I also am wondering if the VESC is rock solid and smooth and as reliable as onewheels? Or is there some room for improvement? And lastly, it doesnt look like the float is very sealed, are there rubber gaskets to install to get a water and dust/dirt resistance?
The potential of the VESC platform is pretty substantial. There are beta firmwares being tested right now that ride very close to (and with the right setup, better than) a Onewheel. Reliability is really more at the component level. Not all VESCs are made equal, and neither are all batteries. With the right skill and planning, you can make something better and more powerful than an XR (what I'm currently working on). As for water resistance, not at all. This kit isn't water resistant as is. On the Discord, there are newer better files to print, that make boxes for the components. And you can go from there and make a pretty water resistant build. But you have to take the time to do it, and it'll only be as resistant as you make it.

It gives me hope that they’ll make a return, but I’m certainly not holding my breath. Considering they’re dead, something tells me that Future Motion (the guys that make the Onewheel) had something to do with it. We all know how anti-competitive Future Motion is, I wouldn’t be surprised if they launched a bullshit lawsuit at floatwheel so they could kill off their best competitor.
Why not include a better battery that can exceed the p1 underpowered 20amps? You're paying all this money surely they can omit the battery from the kit at a reduced cost so the customer can buy something more up to speed
As a Onewheel owner, I've got to disagree. I feel Futuremotion charges way too much for their product currently. I can understand the high cost of the original Onewheel since they had to recoup all the research and development costs, but I personally feel that paying almost $2k for an XR is just too much. Now that they've got their programming down, they SHOULD be able to lower the sale price as component costs aren't anywhere near that $2k mark. HOWEVER, I do understand that FM owns the patents, did the development, and created an amazing product that they can sell for whatever the market will allow. They are very sensitive about their IP and have a good team of attorneys that they have successfully used against almost all other companies who have tried to sell a similar product in the United States. I truly hope that Floatwheel can stick around and not be sued into oblivion by the overzealous FM legal team. Great job, Floatwheel! There are a ton of 3rd party onewheel companies that have amazing accessories for the onewheel and have outstanding customer support. I will say though, my XR is one of the best purchases I have ever made, and the product is solid. The resell value is very good and I enjoy riding it more than I enjoy most things in life. In addition, the onewheel community is absolutely awesome. But as an option for a second board, this floatwheel is great. The only downside I can see to buying the floatwheel is the resell value is probably not there. To save $300 dollars on a board would be worthwhile if the board held value as well as the pint does.
Float wheel is brazenly flouting The IP of US companies who invested considerable time and money in developing their innovations, and who rightfully should expect their patents to protect their investment in R&D. Any clue what happened with their website? It’s so weird that it’s still there with a link to their youtube and has an email signup for a “launch event” of some sort.
Now we need some super 73 replica frames
I would love to see that
One wheel killer? Settle down there Beavis.😅
Music volume: 1,000,000 Voice volume: 1
we are bad at sound :)
I can’t trust myself to make chicken, this is far too much responsibility, but i’d buy one if it was built
RIP one wheel killer. Any other cheaper options? 1600-2000 is such a scam for these things
FLOAT Wheel kit. The new ones. ADC and ACD PRO

just want to let you know float wheel are scammers if you didnt knew
Why not include a better battery that can exceed the p1 underpowered 20amps? You're paying all this money surely they can omit the battery from the kit at a reduced cost so the customer can buy something more up to speed
This was an option while they were making kits. Many DIY'ers used custom packs. Their pack just integrates so nicely though
300 less no that mental 1.3 labour,,,
love brotrs
Mantap👍
I am all for homebrew, but this looks a little too homebrew on the inside. It doesn’t look like the electronics have that much physical protection.
From my experience, there is enough protection and some people have even made 3d printed boxes for further protection
VESC these days!!!
kit price is ridiculously stupid
I'm definitely buying a kit if my questions about the motor are answered satisfactorily.
Is this scam?
float-wheel.com
Yes or its their old website. Just go to the one in the video description
Just buy a ADV Pro.
now days yes
Where can you get one? I'm not seeing it on Google.
This is lame af why even show these kits off if no one else can get them
kit used to be in stock when we made the video. unfortunately they are no longer sold
Seems like a nice trap. Yet another Chinese knock-off.
not at all. nothing like anything else out there
@@DIYesk8Builders is the performance comparable to a onewheel XR? Assuming the same weight load and all?
Idk, Chinese products are usually a trap, not to mention one that has virtually no info on their website.
@@gabrielprandini2629 This is a day project. A bunch of people reverse engineering onewheels on discord. The parts may be made in China, but it's not a Chinese product.
All that work to save 300 and end up with a lower quality product doesn't seem worth it.
I would try this just so I wouldn't be supporting FM anymore
@@arib4497 they are that bad? Should I rethink buying a onewheel?
@@gabrielprandini2629 FM as a company is pretty bad. There customer service is questionable and it is very clear they only care about making money and not about the consumer. They have created app updates that brick people's boards that are modified, which I think speaks volumes. If you have to buy anything from FM, only buy the board and nothing else.
Float wheel is ripping ALL of them off. I have zero respect for anyone I see riding one of these. Zero
oh now bro i cant find your kit
it is not longer for sale
@@DIYesk8Builders why?
they got an S&D from future motion so they had to stop selling
