    Can’t beat the old 288 good saws of the day. Every man has a few things in common. Condolences for you and your friends family. The soul going to God is like a tear drop, allowing its way back to the sea

    Those molded fuel lines for the early 288's are still available, (for now). But the newer 372/390 fuel lines can be used by combining them with the tank grommet that is used on the 51/55 and a whole slew of other models. This is a good solution on a lot of other saws that use the molded, and more expensive fuel lines. A LOT of models/chassis that started out with molded fuel lines switched to a straight fuel line by the end of their model runs. 288's just being one of them.

    It's good to see you again, very informative with the difference of the 200 and 300 series. One thing about the longer bolts holding the carburetor on the 288 was it's very difficult to remove the carb without popping off the cylinder. Thanks for the video.

    Hey Walt. Always enjoy your videos. You have a Kolbenshmidt cylinder on that 288. They were a factory supplier for Husky along with Mahle. They are good stuff. The symbol is a K with an overlapping S on the side of the cylinder. Have a great day!

      Kolbenschmidt is 1st. class stuff...and that saw came from the factory with it. Good idea would have been to pressure test it before taking off the cylinder.

      Not really, just going to waste the time doing that, I always just replace the seals on a saw that age then after the build will do my typical pressure / vac test to make certain it goes out the door solid..:)

    Those 288 s are tough old saws, guy that cuts with me uses an ex army olive green one it has serious compression! You have to be committed when starting that thing or it will RIP your arm off 😂Amazing that it's still in commercial use 4 or 5 days a week. Sorry for your loss Walt.

    Need help! Just bought a 365 for a tree job on my property about 25/30 60-90 footers hence the reason for a 24 inch bar. In addition I have a 455 a couple poulans and a 271t I believe it is climbing saw an echo. The compression on the 365 is 110 cold I took muffler off and noticed some scoring on ex side of of piston and can hear the crank bearings I wanna rebuild it with few mods can I get a factory cylinder? Do you have any for sale or do you sell any aftermarket ones? Thanks

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a whole pile of 372 build videos...a 365 is either the "Special" Original edition that essentially is a OE 372 saw with a 48mm cylinder so everything applies. OR its a new X-torq and all my 372 X-Torq videos apply.

    • @afleetcommand

      The Chinese AM cylinders were that way when I first started this thing. Copied markings and those goofy rings. They ran OK even with the freeport geometric issue they ALL have. Could have come from any number of places as most are distributors who don't actually manufacture anything....and back then it was ( still is to a certain extent) a crap shoot as to what the true manufacturing source was for those cylinders from most of those resellers. There were and still are many sub-contractor type manufacturers of that stuff. If that saw ran and the cylinder is still good....who cares! Run it. Or use it. One thing I would NOT do is use OEM or Caber quality rings in those AM cylinders with the lessor quality plating. Will peel them faster that the junk rings. Stick with cheaper & softer rings as they came with.
