Here is our verison of the Lament for Boromir! We hope you enjoy it:)
We are unable to get permission to sell this song so we are posting it here free for your enjoyment. If you want a copy of the mp3, we are offering it to those who support us on Patreon!
Due to having a broad range of voices, each of us was able to play a "character" so to speak in the song, giving it our own unique touch.
My brother composed and arranged the piece. My family sang it.

The Lament for Boromir was a song sung by Aragorn and Legolas as the funeral-boat of Boromir drifted away:
Aragorn sang:
Through Rohan over fen and field where the long grass grows
The West Wind comes walking, and about the walls it goes.
‘What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me tonight?
Have you seen Boromir the Tall by moon or by starlight?
‘I saw him ride over seven streams, over waters wide and grey,
I saw him walk in empty lands until he passed away
Into the shadows of the North, I saw him then no more.
The North Wind may have heard the horn of the son of Denethor,
‘O Boromir! From the high walls westward I looked afar,
But you came not from the empty lands where no men are.’
Then Legolas sang:
From the mouths of the Sea the South Wind flies, from the sandhills and the stones,

Then Aragorn sang again:
From the Gate of the Kings the North Wind rides, and past the roaring falls,
And clear and cold about the tower its loud horn calls.
‘What news from the North, O mighty wind, do you bring to me today?
What news of Boromir the bold? For he is long away.’
‘Beneath Amon Hen I heard his cry. There many foes he fought,
His cloven shield, his broken sword, they to the water brought.
His head so proud, his face so fair, his limbs they laid to rest,
And Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, bore him upon its breast.
‘O Boromir! The Tower of Guard shall ever northward gaze,
To Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, until the end of days.
Gimli then comments that they left the east wind to him, but he would not sing it. Aragorn responds that the people of Gondor endure the east wind but do not ask it for tidings, because in that direction lies Mordor and the Evil in the East. - เพลง

I know this sounds like an odd question. I am a big fan of your work! I also play a game called Lord of the Rings Online. In it you can play music in character. I would love to be able to play your song in gane. That being said I would really like to know what notes/pitch you use for the voices in the song. I have been trying to match it by ear but it isn't the easiest thing to do. Again, I really appreciate your work and look forward to hearing more in the future!

In the description, you typed "verison" instead of "version".
A lot of people mock Boromir, in the movies especially, but those people project themselves as perfect and incorruptible. Boromir is the only human to me in the fellowship, as Aragorn spent most his extended life with elves and the Dunedain rangers. Boromir has fought on the front lines his whole life, thrust into a leadership role that wasn’t destined for him. You see his love for his country and people, and it’s painful to see his great strength and heart fail.
I totally agree. That’s why I’m almost moved to tears when I see him tear through the forest to get to the hobbits when the orcs attack. He has to fail because that’s the only way he can be redeemed. And he does redeem himself and in the end he’s better than he was before he fell. That’s what makes it so beautiful to me. That’s where his true strength and heart shows itself. His ability to get back up is so inspiring.
He is Humanity in person.
Brave, strong, beliving he does good and meaning so but filled with Hybris.

As he should, because whilst Boromir fell, momentarily, he also redeemed himself.
Aragorn understood the power and evil of the Ring. And as Guy Incognito points out, Boromir redeemed himself in the saving of Merry and Pippen....
It really does show the respect he had for Boromir. I'm glad they visualized it in the films by him donning his vambraces
I believe in the books it also was said that Aragorn going did not speak of that for many years because he wanted to protect boromir

Boromir went to the council of Elrond in search of hope for his people, and although it was not the hope he thought and he did not deliver it himself he made sure to send hope to Gondor

Amazing reference - Boromir strengthened the will of Aragorn to lead Gondor as a returning King. Aragorn's alias before coming to age was Estel which meant "hope" in Elvish.
He sent Estel, the Hope.
Many things my captain's did, and I have faith they knew just how terrible the evil eas which they went against. Their reaction to this evil in the end was what truly made them who they were.
To think, Tolekin's first deployment in the First World War was in the Somme. We could have lost a genius artist back then. I am forever thankful for his survival and encouragement to write such beauty.
We lost probably a lot of goods artists in the first and second war...

I went to a performance once where some actors would draw random ideas from a hat written by the audience and then immediately improv a song from them, but I’m pretty sure they at least already knew all the notes. I have no idea if it’s possible to just pull a whole song out of the air though

It 100% was an elvish thing. If you look at the books elves sing constantly. Even the elvish language is very musical. And actually the old elves would wield their power in terms of song. That is how tinuviel put morgoth to sleep. With a song. That is how finrod dueled against sauron, with songs of power.
Again singing is very much so an Elven thing.
I'm imagining Boromir coming back from getting firewood and walking in on them rehearsing.
These are poems in the book, but your choral group has really turned them into beautiful songs.
Poems yes, but I want to say that the poems Tolkien made were typically meant to double as lyrics for songs and people to sing them as music is everywhere in the legendarium.

Remember Tolkien was from England
He wrote this in france.
Nazi Germany was east of him.
Thus did Boromir fall.
Captain of Gondor, Loyal son of a failing city, heir of a crumbling Kingdom.
Yet Boromir's heart was strong, as was his love for Gondor, for he was a True Son.
Sent on a hopeless quest, lead by an ancient leader to destroy the enemies ancient weapon.
Met by a Witch with a piercing eye, which laid bare his heart.
Fear. Despair. A hopeless dread that none could stand against the Shadow.
Yet a Mighty heart had Boromir, Son of the White Tower.
A mighty heart could not protect him from the Enemy's Power.
The Ring...Turned his Love of Gondor....to Madness.
To redeem that madness, he fought with shield and sword to protect the Little Ones.
Foe he struck down, again and again.
Yet no sword could save him from the black arrows, nor could his cloven shield.
And so did Boromir the Fair journey across the sea to join his Kin.

This is incredible, and genuinely made me cry. Boromir's death hits hard every single time, in book and movie, and to hear Legolas and Aragorn's lament for him sung so true to how I always imagined it is breathtaking. May the Son of Denethor and Brother of Faramir forever live on in our hearts...🍃
The reason I loved Boromir, was because he was a mortal, a man, with no superpowers just like us.

I really appreciate that this has a different feel to it than the Dwarven songs. One of the big weaknesses of other interpretations of LotR music that I've heard is that the songs are often stylistically very similar, despite the intent that they be from very different sources.
That's one of the most interesting things about Tolkien, he had each culture having different poetic rhythms and styles

@@unbelievablytrash9458 He literally considered it a part of the real world and Eru as God. There can be Norse themes because Norse culture is simply a more recent part of Middle Earth's history, but his creation story is similar to Genesis for a reason.

Also, I have a humble wish. You made the songs... so you have to have the high resolution, high quality, lossless versions. The ones I bought are compressed CD quality versions. No way to have anything better. I wish to purchase from you the best quality version available. At least Durin's song I would like to have in studio quality. Is it possible to buy that some way?

Crying I absolutely love this song you guys did it so well.
As a odd and lonely kid I pretty much lived in middle earth in my mind and rambling the 1st time I read Boromirs death I cryed for days as he reminded me of my father a lot who was in Vietnam and by the time I came along only a security guard but in my mind he was this big strong worrior who battled in a grate battle and now kept the steelworks and mines safe again in my mind the steelworks and mines were like the misty mountains or mordor. It probably didn't help that my dad read me fantasy books ever since I was born the 1st being the hobbit and my earliest memory is walking around with this tattered old hobbit book looking for my dad. Boromir might not have been the smartest or most resilient man when it came to the ring but that's some of the reasons he was more like my farther than any other man in the lotr my father wasn't overly smart but had a lot of street smarts I guess and he had his own demons as Boromir had the ring my farther had his past and a drink.
One of my dogs just died in my arms yesterday, after a long fight trying to survive. I put this song for him...

Boromir was the one to say you cannot simply march into Mordor.
It is my belief, that he could.
I remember reading the Lord Of The Rings at the age of 10, and feeling like a punch in the gut when Boromir died.
And while reading those lines, and imagening the scene, I felt also a weird magic in the air, deep sorrow for the mighty who fallen, yet a mysterious, almost toxicating calmness and joy.
I had those same feelings now, while listening to that song, and looking a the pictures.

This song is my seccond favorite song of all the LOTR saga right under "Song of Durin". Boromir was accually my favorite character, he's so human. Even though he was taken by greed and coruption from the ring, he's love for the Gondor was so high.
In the end he made the right choice, its not your mistakes that count, but how you die
Actually he wasn't taken by greed and corruption. He was taken by fear and despair. You see Gondor was in war with the orcs for years probably decades. And Boromir was at the centre of it. He has seen first hand what the might of Sauron is. And he believed that none can fight that might. So he saw the ring as weapon that Gondor needed.....
Boromir was so loved that even the winds themselves sung for him. For even the greatest of heroes have flaws and so we cannot judge them too harshly.

I consider Boromir my favourite character in all the books I read. I'm crying because this is such a perfect adaptation, exactly as it should have been in the book.

I have finally seen my favourite parts of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit come to life, the parts they neglected in the movies; the parts that made me love that work. It was only when I reread he books that I realized how much I loved Boromir. He was tempted and fell but then rose again and laid down his life in defense of his friends and companions. The movies didn't do him justice.

I'm really curious how you came to this conclusion.
I am just reading the books for my 1st time and recently completed Fellowship. His death is actually the beginning of Two Towers, and we come from Aragorn's perspective who shows up after the orcs have left. Boromir's last stand is then only mentioned briefly.
The movies, however, show him fighting front and center protecting Merry and Pippin.
How could one ever die in a more noble fashion than defending the defenseless?

Reading Of Nirnaeth Adroniad in the Silmarillion while listening to this song. At Fingon's death a few tears came out.
This brings a tear to my eye, and I don't know quite why. I never really liked Boromir in the books or movies if I am being honest. But the more I listen to this, and the more I go back through the Lord of the Rings the more I appreciate Tolkien's subtle intuition into human nature. And indeed, the more I like Boromir.

I found this channel nearly 3 years ago when I was looking for the full misty mountains cold song. Nearly 2 years ago, my 6 month old daughter didnt want to listen to misty anymore. We moved to the song of durin for like a month. We then moved to this one. This song has been listened to so much I know it by heart. To this day if she is really upset or needs to relax for a nap we put it on and she comes and cuddles up to my chest to listen. Thank you for making, in my opinion, a master piece of music from Tolkien's work.
Year later: still get her to sleep using it. And song of durin too. Bith are great hymns for lullabies.
Many people who criticize Tolkein's work do so for the black v. white nature of it. Good versus evil, nothing in between. To those critics I say one word: "Boromir." Very much a character firmly fixed in the gray area of Tolkein's world, and I love him for that.
"They will look for him from the White Tower, but he will not return from mountain or from sea"
To those brave soldiers who were deployed, but never returned.
The first CDP song I ever heard... still gives me shivers and tears EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And Boromir isn't even my top fave character.

I dont think anyone could have portrayed Boromir on the big screen better than Sean Bean...he brought such a strength to a character that even for the people who watched the movie and were not familiar with the books, they understood his character so well

This is my absolute favorite song. Not on this channel or on TH-cam, but of all time.
I'm not even that big a LOTR fan but closing my eyes and taking the time to quietly hum this song to myself from beginning to end when I'm having a bad day has yet to fail to calm me down with it's slow, deliberate pace.
I could cry, like really cry. This interpretation is so powerful. And this is so sad moment in the story...

The hero or not depends on his choice in front of the greatest justice. Boromir, you did it.
Boromir is easily the character I related to the most out of all the Fellowship. He doubts and struggles with himself, wanting to ensure that his people see another day. Despair sets in when it is clear that no might or will of man can avail against the inevitable, so when a chance is given, why should he not take it, so small it may seem? Surely no evil can come of good intentions?
I've struggled and fallen more times than I can count. I've shamed myself and disappointed those who know I am better. I've bargained with evil, reasoning that the end will bear out the means. And I've learned the folly of my own pride and arrogance. No good deed will wash out the bad, but I can still live each day trying to make amends.
I can only hope that when I reach the end, I face it like Boromir: honorably.
