Sweet titan child, let me teach you the ways of the fist. It is an elder guardian's duty to raise up and ensure you new lights grow strong and have fun doing so.
Hey so as a more experienced player, i wanted to give you some tips about the game. Cus I'm not gonna sugar coat it man, this gameplay was painful to watch. 1.) There are a lot of better exotic weapons that you could be using than riskrunner. That one's whole thing is that you get a damage buff for a bit whenever you take arc damage (enemy attacks are color coded to their damage type, so blue attacks). It's okay against the fallen, but in those strikes you were doing, you were mainly fighting scorn, vex, and cabal, which all don't have a lot of arc based attacks. I think it's one of the first exotics you get, so that's understandable, but I'd recommend something like sunshot or outbreak perfected, if you have either of those, if you're deadset on an exotic primary. 2.) Ballistic slam isn't worth it for PvE. You're better off using either using Thunderclap to kill a bunch of enemies at once or Seismic strike to blind enemies. 3.) The same thing I said about riskrunner goes for your exotic armor. There are a lot better options than wormgod caress. Wormgod is okay, but you don't seem to be really actively getting it's buff, which you get by getting melee kills. If you like arc, then you could try to get Point-contact cannon brace, which is an arm piece that makes thunderclap way more effective. otherwise if you deadset on using riskrunner or an smg in general, you could also try peacekeepers. Peacekeepers isn't the best either, but it's a easy buff for smgs that you don't really have to think about. You could also try lion rampant, which is a leg that increases your jump duration. 4.) Your armor stats need a lot of work. I recommend putting on resilience mods on as many armor pieces as you can. That'll increase your health by quite a bit. Generally speaking, anything under a base total of 63 stat points is not a good piece of armor. 5.) Your weapon setup is HIGHLY focused on close quarters, using a fusion, smg, and sword. You might consider swapping the grenade launcher, or the smg for a pulse rifle, hand cannon, scout rifle, or even an auto rifle just to get a bit more range and be a bit more well rounded. 6.) Sword boss dps is definitely not the way to go. Just about any other power weapon would be better. A rocket launcher or heavy grenade launcher are good for dealing damage quick, while a linear fusion is good if you can hit a headshot. Lmgs are pretty good for dealing with smaller enemies too. 7.) If you're wanting to do Jolts, you need to build specifically into it. The Spark of Shocks fragment makes it so that your grenades do it, the Touch of Thunder aspect makes specifically lightning grenades do it, Point-contact cannon brace makes Thunderclap do it. 8.) When the Scorn glow purple, it means they're invincible. There'll be a purple beam going from them to a purple lantern. break the lantern to make them killable again.
ik your jsut trying to help him out, but let him enjoy the game at the early stage and figure some of it out for himself, and don't get me wrong some of it is rly useful advice like the exotic armour, the immunes, learning different exotic weapons
If you wanna make ballistic slam work, a great exotic choice is insurmountable skullfort. Every time you kill something with your arc melee, it isn't used, so as long as you get kills, you can keep using it. I love using the "hands on" mod for my helmet to give me extra super on melee kills and the "heavy handed" mod on my gauntlets to spawn orbs of power on melee kills too. Very fun combo if you can build it juuuuust right.
I disagree with these comments. Its nice to see a new player struggle a bit. Especially when the pieces start to click, a week or so of gameplay can make a massive difference. Every clip from this video is something to learn from and not do again, ever, please. That being said, it reminded me of being a new player, not knowing all the visual cues and ways to find out whats good. I still dont know all of that. Go watch some videos, watch some gameplay, some experienced friends, and most importantly play the game. Set yourself a long term goal, i.e beat a raid, get to a higher guardian rank, and then come back to this video and see where you started. Its really fun. Before you read the next part: Sorry for writing so much! I swear i dont mean to throw words around and push you away from the game. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask, I will answer them as simply and concisely as possible. I like the game a lot and get carried away when writing, its a flaw of mine. I didnt realise how much i was writing until i got to heavy weapons. I apologise. If you do decide to take any of my advice, pick a paragraph, read it, and do it. I wouldn't recommend reading it all at once. I have a massive information overload problem and it sucks. Have fun playing destiny. You definitely wont run out of stuff to do for a long while. Here's a small list of good weapons to pick up, and you can build on it from there. I wont tell you where to get them, thats for you to google. But first, ill explain what can go where. Kinetic Slot - Can have Stasis, Strand and Normal weapons. Will hold primary or special ammo. Energy Slot: Solar, Arc, Void. Special and Primary again. Power Slot: Any Subclass, but only holds heavy ammo weapons. Swords, launchers, machine guns, linear fusion rifles. Kinetic Legendary: Honestly not important. Find something you like and use it when you need to. If you have the final shape, the call is king. Otherwise, the damage will be fine in easier activities against easier enemies, but not great for bosses. Exotic Primary: Thorn - Incredible Hand Cannon Osteo Striga - Great for Add Clearing albeit not as good of an option nowadays Outbreak Perfected - One of the best primary pulse rifles in the game. Very accurate, decent damage, and its perk makes it do more damage the more you shoot an enemy. Izanagi's Burden: Can combine all 4 shots into 1 for massive damage. Used to be the best dps in the game, still decent but there are better options. Forerunner (30th Anniversary Pack) - Nothing much to say. Halo 1 magnum. Hits for massive damage but thats all it excels at. Its just fun. Legendary Energy: These are more important. This is where I'd say the perks really make the weapon, as 2 different sets of perks can make a weapon feel entirely different. For example, a Hand Cannon with Explosive Payload and Incandescent will be incredible for PvE ad clear, but you'd want a different set for PvP. For now, play around, find what you like and learn what the perks do. From there, you can google weapon specific "god rolls", what works best for certain weapons in certain roles. For now, lets focus on one weapon. Aberrant Action. It drops from the seasonal missions, once you get on to act 2. I recommend doing all the NES quests to focus it. The rolls i would recommend are Heal Clip and Incandescent. Heal Clip heals you when you reload after getting a kill, and Incandescent blows shit up. The seasonal SMG is also fun, so rank a vendor up to 16 and pick it up. Exotic Energy: There are some great weapons here. Still Hunt is one of my favourite weapons in the game, but im a hunter, and it works better for hunters. Sunshot / Graviton Lance - They both serve a similar purpose, but its worth having both. Sunshot is Solar, and GL is Void, so keep an eye on enemy shield types and adapt your load out accordingly. Trinity Ghoul - Arc Add Clear beast. Heavy Legendaries: Essential for any kind of "good" dps on bosses, even in strikes some bosses just have a lot of health or its fun asf to one phase them (the mad warden for example, love blowing that meatball up) For Rockets, your best legendary choice without farming a raid is Crux Termination IV, with the right perks. Reconstruction is a great perk to have. It reloads the weapon while its in your pocket so you can use another one instead of reloading yourself. Explosive light is another good one, boosts your damage whenever you grab an orb of power. Dont think that you need these perks though. There are other good options. Envious Assassin, overloads your launcher when you kill things with other weapons, and Clown Cartridge, randomly overfills on reload, aren't bad either. Again, experiment! This weapon drops all the time. You'll get to try a ton of combos. Edge Transit - Grenade Launcher. Drops from onslaught. In fact, most of the onslaught weapons are good. Hammerhead is another good heavy weapon to get, its a machine gun. Exotic Heavies. I wont write paragraphs here because im not trying to fry your brain even more here so I'll just drop the names: Whisper of the Worm Sleeper Simulant Thunderlord Tractor Cannon (should already have) Gjallarhorn (Requires 30th Anniversary Pack)
Idk if you're new to gaming, but running into loads of enemies without a plan will get you killed. Destiny has lots of enemies who deal a ton of damage from afar. Position yourself better so you're not in line of sight from enemies you're not dealing with. Your aim needs some work, but for now you should try Osteo Striga. Its an exotic SMG that requires less aiming. Armour wise, equip armours with high Resilience, get it to 100 so you take 30% less damages from all sources. After Resilience, get all the recovery you can, its not the best stat for PVE but you will heal quicker and get back in fight. Good luck on your journey. It will get better.
Imma be real blunt here, a lot of the struggling and flaws here just comes down to understanding mechanics, movement, battle iq and developed, skill, a lot of if not all of these problems will resolve themselves as you get used to the game and build up more skill and learn everything, i mean some of these mistakes are just common sense things, like being a point blank to a wyvern, they fire a spread projectile so naturally itll do more damage to you the closer you stand to them, another being that you cant shoot weapons and utilize a jump ability without the fee exceptions which arent shown here which caused you to fall off the map with that fusion, and... Well when has running headlong into a group of enemies that have you entirety surrounded and outgunned ever been a good idea? later in the game these sort of problems are non-existent, and for the cherry on the cake youre using base arc subclass on titan with minimal fragments and aspects, beginner area d2 is rough but itll only get much better, assuming everything still isnt locked behind paywalls
Welcome to Titan little light, get use to the clunk. We Titans are proud defenders* of our friends, we are capable of great things** but if you really want to be good at melee may I suggest Solar Titan or Arc Hunter Or you, just play Hunter, they do almost everything we can but better. *if you use a specific Void build that is **We are powerful for a few weeks at a time until something in nerfed into the ground and we have to resort to our fists once again because that's the only way we can survive
Need to sprint to activate "sprint" has to be currently active at the time of melee. Most likely want a lot of height for distance/ useage otherwise thinderclap or blastic is just generally better.
you didn't buy the annual pass+dlc+d&d outfit combo. That makes the game work for a few days, then you have to buy silver to get all the keys and emotes to make it *really* work
Give some actual advice to a clearly new player, instead of being a asshole, that's shit is what causes problems. This young blueberry needs GUIDANCE, not undue ridicule.
Watching this caused me physical pain. Palpable anger.
Why?
I am in mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual pain.

The boss of that strike was doing Psion things in that room, and then retreated to the boss room
Unfortunately arc titan is just bad I recommend going for either strand solar or prismatic. And unlock synthoceps from Ikora.
oh my boy, use solar
ah you poor lad.
It'll get better
It won't
