My wife (who sang a lot) said the range itself is impressive, but not shockingly per se... but his instantaneous control and smoooooooth af voice is sexy. Im straight and this mans voice makes my heart flutter lmao. I think the only other singer Ive said that about was Rob Thomas singing "Smooth" 😂
@@kortekainess Yeah, his range is good. More than your average singer. However, his control over both his voice and external movements is well beyond what most people could hope for. There are literal YEARS of practice displayed in this video.

I love seeing the raw footage with this. I knew he was good at the robot movements but holy crap, some of the starts and stops that I thought were part of the digital stabilization & stuff were just him miming. I think this is my new favorite SPG cover… I’ll never get tired of hearing him switch from his deep voice to his higher register
Dude I always forget that spine actually has a high vocal range but he stays in the lower register so that rabbit can fill out that range and then he does stuff like this and I'm like oh yeah he has a high range
@@wowguy1243 Also the blurring caused by keeping the camera focused on him instead of static and letting him shift about on the screen in a more noticeable way, given how much his upper body shifts as he sings.
I thought David had said Bunny has a lower range than him. He struggles with really low notes. Couldn't tell by listening to him though.

Every 2 to 3 years I 'Re-Discover' SPG and every time I say 'I need to see more'. I'm seeing more.
Spine has this thing, even when he just talks, where he doesn't look like his mouth is making the sounds that are coming out and it weirds me out.

Damn. Incredible. Oof. Everything about this was fantastic. The mixing, the acting, the video editing (the little touches with the eyes were captivating), the directing, and certainly not least the singing.
This might be my favourite of theirs. I was a huge fan of Diamonds for similar reasons; the incredible range and passion The Spine has on display, but I wasn't even a fan of the original with that one, whereas I actually like this og Lana version too. I love how sincere this cover is! It really leans into The Spine's more melancholy tendencies, and David's miming is excellent as always. The editing and effects add just the right touch to amplify the action, but not distract from it. And the EYES!! Keep up the great work, we love you guys!

Your band is such a critically underrated band! I'm from the UK and would love to see you live, but I know that touring different countries isn't quite as fun an easy at people make it out to be, it's hella expensive for one, But if I get chance someday soon to travel to see you play, I absolutely will. Personally, I dedicate this song to my daughter, Kassanndra. She was a massive fan, and introduced me to your music. She was murdered in the summer of 2020. Her killer sits in country, still awaiting trial. All I live for is news of his death. Kassanndra would love this song. So do I.

So, I don't know if anybody else does this, but anytime there's new music I want to listen to, there's a part of my brain that just wants to put it off and put it off, like I kinda have this (pretty much always unfounded) anxiety that THIS will be the one to ruin this band/artist for me for whatever reason and that that'll be one less good thing in my life.
So here I am, some 6 months after this video premieres, FINALLY listening to this song and, as always, I'm floored by the sheer technical talent that this band has. One of these days I'll get around my brain weasels and actually listen the actual day a song premieres :D

Gods i love The Spine, and his voice.
He's one of the biggest inspirations i have to work on my own skill at using my singing voice which is a bass fairly close to his level.
This and the cover of Diamonds is easily up there on the same "cover quality" level of Disturbed's cover of the sound of silence. They're so perfect that I think they're actually better than the original.
Is it weird that along side this cover of lana, I also think Jessica Lange's cover of gods and monsters was also better than the original.
