i was never steves biggest fan or anything vis a vis political leanings but i do know he was a fucking amazing great dude and yeah this is has my eyes a bit watery i have seasonal allergies ok
My band got drumsticks from Todd, and polo mints from Steve, in a village hall in Dorset (where P.J. Harvey's mum lived). It was the best concert of my life.
He was such a technical genius and intellectual scientist in his daily life, but such a visceral and passionate artist when he was performing and creating dynamic works. A very complex and beautiful human who made the world a cooler place.
Went to a Shellac show a few years ago, a guy in the audience kept heckling Todd Trainer, you could see the band get really pissed of, so at one point he got up from his drumset, asked the guy to come onstage, gave him his drumsticks and told him to play, the rest of the band would follow him along. Of course he sucked, guy had never hit a drum in his life, everybody was taking the piss out of him, it was glorious. You don’t mess with Shellac! Later that night, Albini told my friend to punch me in the face because he… well he was Steve Albini. A concert experience I will cherish forever.
Shellac functions as a tough natural primer, sanding sealant, tannin-blocker, odour-blocker, stain, and high-gloss varnish. Shellac was once used in electrical applications as it possesses good insulation qualities and it seals out moisture.
Rest in power, Steve. One of my great memories is finally seeing Shellac at Primavera. I saw them a few years earlier at an indoor venue in London but maybe the sound wasn't up to scratch, because the sound at the outdoor stage totally destroyed it. The best guitar and bass tone I've ever heard, absolutely cut-throat. The anti-band in every way. Freaks and weirdos, and I'm glad to call myself that as well. Interestingly, this video is almost exactly the same run-time of the studio version.
This sucks man. No other "celebrity" death has ever hit me like this. I was inspired by Steve as a young teenager. I never was musically talented, but Steve Albini was the reason I started caring hard about my art. I stopped drawing gimmicky similar stuff to what i was comfortable with drawing, and Steve Albini and Trent Reznor saved me. They really inspired me to be comfortable with doing things outside the box. What Steve Albini did for me is give me confidence in myself. He showed me how you can really express yourself through your art, while being vulnerable and sad. The first time I heard "Kerosene" i felt so heard, so understood, ans thats big black thats not even shellac. But steve albini chamged my life, for the better, and he'll never know it. Steve, if you really can see any of this...thank you man. And thank you for being so fucking amazing that you changed the way grunge music was even viewed. You're a fucking legend. My favorite song from Steve would have to be his band Shellac's big hit, Kersosene. No one can deny that song is perfect. RIP STEVE ALBINI. He definitely made it out of Minnesota.
God I just LOVE seeing kids enjoying and getting involved in rock performances. It should never be the preserve of grown ups. This here is what made Shellac so beloved of Primavera. This is the spirit of that festival.
@@AliceCoopacabana oh no really? Has it been lost in the last few years? That's so sad. Mind you most festivals have gone über corporate and controlled. Glastonbury being a huge case in point. In the 90s and before, that place was so special.
Not gonna lie, I was not expecting to see this band do this thing here in this way if front of this crowd in this weather. Crowd be like wtf is this. Kids be like yey let’s fuck around. One of my fav bands.
oh man...when I see that I get a little sentimental. Eminem had to go through so much and spend a lot of hard moments in the shadows, but look at where he has come and how wonderfully his daughter has grown up. I bow respectfully
YEAR 2090
- I played drums with Shellac when I was 7
- Sure grandad, now take your pills
Someone puts on End Of Radio, after the pills
hey siri play the little shits the video
Those kids must have the coolest parents if they brought them to a Shellac show.
It was an unannounced surprise gig during the primavera festival ;-)
No one doesn't like that comment
They're their own cool... they skipped skool, and hitched a ride.
@@pete5534 yep. And uncle Ted Nugent can tell himself the one kid is the RIGHT KINDA COOL, cuz he's obviously got target range ear muffs🤟🤣😂
Referring to Primavera Sound as a “Shellac show” is the correct way of doing things
RIP Steve. You will be missed. 😢
I'm not crying, you're crying.

we're all crying mate.
I just shed a tear. Best video on the web
Those kids added to the performance in a way that nobody could have expected.
This is the greatest video of Shellac on TH-cam.
Correction: this is the greatest video on TH-cam!
You are both right
Bob Weston might disagree
This is the greatest video every recorded in history
holy crap, never thought of shellac as kid friendly but
Positive Energy, Positive Humans.....kid and animal friendly.

Have you seen the video of the Melvins playing a free outdoor show to kids and giving away free ice cream? It's magical!
Todd Trainer schools drum lessons for kids. In fact, those kids were his trainees during Primavera that year. He's a real sweet dude. The greatest.
Albini loved kids (alittle to much, he was a pedo).
Look it up
Shellac are about the only band that could pull this off and not make it look cheesey.
Simultaniously one of the coolest and most uncool bands.
True that mozzarella face
nah still extremely cheesy
Great guys. These three kids might be leading rock bands someday because of this !

Please elaborate. Sounds interesting

That dude with the Sleep Vol.2 shirt is a legend
Pure chills, for all the reasons.

WE LOVE YOU FOREVER STEVE ALBINI
💔
Albini was everywhere he needed to be, and sculpted some of the best music ever created!
We all lost with your departure, wherever you are, your Midas touch is immortalized in auditions that passed through your hands...🎼🎵🎶🎙🎸♾
Thank you Steve, Todd and Bob.
This is my first taste of Shellac. To say I'm impressed is an understatement, what a fantastic video.
Their drummer moves in such a weird way and I fucking love him
Last time I saw them live he spent much of this song wandering around the audience with the snare drum getting people to hit it.
He's giving off some strong Harpo Marx vibes!
Just more proof that Shellac are the greatest band on the planet.
This video is beautiful.
These guys are the coolest! RIP Steve
sorely missed

That -- was awesome.
Will never get over how great this is
Shellac are all about audience participation. I applaud them for it.
Most impromptu drum circles turn into chaos, and cacophony, but this started that way.
I was there and it was awesome!!!!
I was that day on night Shellac show only. See you, Steve, again, I swear.
This is the greatest video for kids ever.
I love this band. RIP Steve
Steve Albino is the man!!! All of Shellac r incredible!!!!!
