I was saying the same thing while watching - a trooper for sure! Sitting on the side of the road, for four hours, is never easy - ESPECIALLY with animals.

I didn't think it was funny at all. And because you chose this platform to do what you do. Viewers have a right to voice their opinions. That "tack" that the writer before you indicated in his post, should be replaced with more kindness and compassion. Especially in a situation like the one Alyssa was in. We all can do better.

I think people forget that Alyssa edits these videos and if Kyle was really disrespecting her in a bad way, it probably would have been apparent. It seemed obvious to me that was joking banter and funny, given the history on their channels about Kyle interrupting a lot. The guy just loves to talk, and it’s fun to see Alyssa throwing it back at him when he can’t help himself.
That said, this was some really compelling content! I’m glad you included Timon diagnosing and fixing it and showing the negative effects on the tire, and especially relieved that all that was from a simple mechanical failure that was easy to correct. We all know that in some aspects these cars are way more complicated than the ones of yesteryear, but some things, like connectors taking a bump and coming undone, are still the same. Love the car adventure content, but also the puppers too!
Finally someone that gets it and isn’t simping for Alyssa. You’d get gold if this was Reddit.
I was happy to see Alyssa on her solo trip. She did great! Especially considering the situation! Love this one!
Kyle, you need to give her a medal for being patient with both the car and her husband. I’ve been following Out of Spec for quite some time and enjoy your EV content, especially your realistic coverage of both the good and bad of all the EVs (Tesla,VW,Ford,….) Keep up the good work!

Great job Alyssa. You handled yourself very well without panicking. Not a good situation and this is one of the reasons some people fear owning and driving a Tesla. Keep rescuing those great dogs and, keeping being a part of the channel.
Alyssa handled that with such calmness. I move aircraft and cross runways several times a day. To find that type of personal is rare. Kyle is a lucky man.
Wow. Definitely going to need a new tire. I'd also make sure none of the rotors got warped from the brake being stuck.

Flatspot means the rear did lock up. So Alyssa was right imo. Which can go sideways and get ugly at speed. Not to mention overheating the parking brake. Glad no one got hurt and it was resloved.
The Idle charges discussion is funny. I make that drive monthly, and have never-ever-ever seen more than three Teslas charging at any charger between Lincoln and Boulder. 99% of the time it's only me, lonely charging. Keep up the good work.
I don't worry about idle charges out of town unless i'm charging at a 4 pack.

Alyssa is great and the dog is awesome. I don't blame anyone for being cautious regarding a computer/ car .
I don't think my marriage would have survived if I had let my wife go on a road trip in a car that I knew had problems. Especially if I had gotten there and told her it didn't really happen like she said it did. Glad you kept your cool (at least from what was in the video). Maybe there were some choice words that we didn't get to see.

I had a spaniel that lived to 20 years old. She did get a good low fat diet for the majority of her life, got enough exercise (though she rather not do too much I do believe she lived to that age because she was loved despite of having cancer tumors twice, a pancreatitis issue, and jumped out of a moving car. and hurt herself. But as I said, she was loved!

You did great Alyssa, This just happened to me on our M3P, Tesla replaced the Driver side Caliper and Rotor and cleared the codes. I watched this video afterwards i would of learned something.
By now, the rear break pads are probably completely gone. So you can just drive it no problem : ) Great video.
Alyssa called her knight in shinning armor to save her... and Kyle completely drops the ball, lights the ball on fire and pops the ball with a blunt dagger.

That trip planner bug I noticed on my trip - Portland -> Phoenix and back. It was on average under predicting by 5-10%. Trip would say -2% and I would arrive 6-8%.. I wasted more time on supercharging stops at times thinking out of error vs. just going. I got more comfortable with it knowing the wh/mi and weather ahead and just doing.
And another Alyssa video. I love it. So, a 300 mile EV, actually has a usable range of 120, so that you charge within the 10-60% range. That is, unless you leave from at home at 90%, or you can charge to 90% at the hotel. Then we are talking 200 miles. My Cadillac CTS 3.6 can do 500 miles easily, refueling at the equivalent of 35cents per kwh at todays gas prices. My next car is definitely EV, but I hope that nominal battery range goes up to 600 instead of 300 for Model 3 or 400 for S, so that I can do 300 miles without stopping : ) Great videos.

I would love to see more alyssa road trip videos.. this one was a bust, but that made it fun.. I can't imagine my wife saying "Chris will be here in 4 hours" and just say, "well at least I have time to read a book" she is awesome and did a great job

Always love the channel that gives us The GooD, The BAd, and tHE Ugly side! This reminds me a bit of the several vehicles I have gone through over the years. There is something to be said for having a manual parking brake (other than for drifting a car), but that's a 22 year old vehicle. Then 10-year-old vehicle has a push-button automatic parking brake, but when we bought the dealer took a good chunk of time explaining how to deal with it if it ever got stuck. And then now... everything is automatic and if it breaks, you wind up stuck out in the cold :-(

Bring back the physical hand break. When electrical systems go frong it's not safe for the occupants of the car. Alyssa was great. I think we have sacrificed safety for the hope of autonomous driving.
Sounds like the map doesn't update if your gps coordinates didn't change, once on the road it kicks in. That would be a code flaw.
Alyssa this was one of the most exciting TH-cams I have seen. I was glued to it to see the out come. Some day I hope to meet you and Kyle as I live very close to you guys, but maybe if I see you at your house will just say hello.

And you are a gifted automotive journalist. But my goodness! You don't have to be so degrading when trying to emphasize, even more, how smart are. Especially towards the lady who is supposed to be your better half. The actions that you displayed in this video aren't very smart. Alyssa, as well as your supportive team, does, and continues to do a great job. And in this video, under quite scary circumstances, you could've been a lot more caring and supportive. Great video. Thanks to Kyle and Jordan for saving the day, but in true Out of Spec style, there’s always a close shave making it to a charging destination.
I was confused though how the left rear tire flat-spotted from a grabby brake, but the shaky connection Tijmen found was on the right. Or did the left just clinch up because of a fault? And was that loose connector the source of the problems y’all have been experiencing?
Oh, and I forgot to ask -- did that loose piece of the car Alyssa noticed at the beginning turn out to be related in any way to the issue? Or was that just a teaser she put into the video?

You may have a door ajar. Check to make sure all doors are closed. It's a modern safety feature of electrically actuated parking brakes to apply if system senses open door.
Nice video, good to see some twist and turns in the story. Even more enjoyable, but not so much fun for Alyssa in the situation. And we all know why Kyle came when called upon - he is clever and knows whats best for him 😇😂😉

My guess is you lost a nut or bolt in the rear suspension. Let’s see at the end of your video. So a flat spot on the tire would do the thumping.

Have you done much research on them and their competition? Looking for tracking collars for our new pups who should be here soon...
No too much research, as we don’t need for long distance. It’s very helpful though, it lets me know when they are out of their boundary I can set at many locations so helpful in trips! I always keep them on my fosters more than my personal! They are pretty cheap right now too, so I decided to have them for a peace of mind!
