Great to hear these steps again. I find it hard to pass up my high density foods at the grocery store, snd give in when they're home, so I try to shop from a list, get in the store, and get out quickly. I have no support so it's you and me. You are in my head. So glad you made this video.

I was so stressed with my masters degree last year that I gained 7kg in 2 weeks. I was only gaining weight for years and being sick all the time. I never thought I could say no to myself, no to the tenth cookie. What happened the following proved me wrong.
Pregnancy, finishing uni (the cause of massive stress) and surgery restrictions were 3 factors that changed my diet. Each one in it's own way had a role. The lack of stress helped with cravings. Pregnancy made me feel like my baby is more imoortant than a beer or other foods I could not eat to protect him. The most important, my surgery came with massive food restrictions. No fats, no carbs, only low fat and cooked veggies. I didn't reach for a single cookie because I knew I could end up in the hospital again.
I am telling you all of this because I want to prove that everything comes from your brain, your will. How important is it for you. I would have never changed my habits if I didn't change my life first.
So 'keep fighting and eventually win the war'!!! YOU CAN DO IT!

O my gosh this stuff really works!! Today I didn't eat breakfast due to a crazy busy morning with getting kids to school, meetings, etc. I come in with a ravenous appetite at noon to find 10 giant oatmeal choc chip cookies on the kitchen counter. I was just about to tear into one and then I remembered this really helpful video I watched yesterday. So I took Chelsea's advise and told myself to "filled up first" on something else. I found an orange, some leftover lasagna and salad in the fridge. By the time I finished all that, the appetite for cookies had vanished. This is amazing thank you Chelsea

This morning I watched this video twice and I am SO glad I did because as soon as I went into the kitchen, I wanted to have some cookies BUT I thought about what you said and paused and then just had a brazil nut and date as a quick snack. Then I warmed up my sweet potatoes and ate that right away. I think I am going to watch the video again! Really appreciate you Chels!

You are a very smart young woman. Your advice is spot on. I enjoy listening to your videos. They help me keep strong and maintain this way of eating. When I have my cravings I try to stop and ask myself out loud am I really hungry. If the answer is no, I try to walk away. Sometimes I fail, and regret what I ate. I try and do better next time. At least now I continue to eat healthy where before on a typical western diet I would go eat junk and stopped any diet and start over next week. I really like the idea of eating potatoes when a craving hits. I am going to try that if I know I will give in. Thanks again. 💞💕💓

I used to talk about myself as a person who'd eat anything they could get their hands on. I think this isn't true anymore: I've shown that I'm someone who has shown will-power throughout their weightloss journey. I now find myself to be someone who is capable of making trustworthy decisions for long-term well-being instead of a quick fix, which is super empowering. Love the Mulan analogy!

Thank you, great video! I always wish I could leave a comment on your Podcasts so here it is, thank you so much for those, I really enjoy them! I experienced a huge relief in cravings when I unfollowed all the food porn accounts on social media. Every time I logged on and saw pictures of my favorite desserts, all I could think about all day was getting a dessert. Once I stopped those images from being in front of my face, things really got a lot better! Highly recommend giving that a try for anyone really! Honestly, the same goes for the accounts with all the unrealistic body types. I mean really, when in history were we presented with all of these images turning us around in circles mentally? It’s really just unnatural. IMO❤️ “Cravings are based on images, images are based on memories, and memories fade over time. You crave what you eat.” Love that quote. Essentially, if we stop having the images right in front of our faces constantly, they will fade and I have experienced this personally. 😘

Excellent analogy, Chelsea. Focus on actions (that lead to) rather the long term outcomes. Best advice. My big problem is exercise (that is avoiding!) so rather than say I will be lean and strong, I focus on getting out for a walk daily (mostly) and reach out for my hand weights or sit on my Pilates reformer so I feel better about having moved during the day. Soon, this manifests into "wow, I climbed that hill without panting"! It works!

Loved your video. Ignoring the craving does lead to problems. I love the approach of finding something else to eat before giving in, because your right, when the craving goes away you reinforce that “cake” isn’t the only thing that can fix it. Sometimes when I’m out and really hungry I say “just fill the hole “ to lead me to healthy eating and not feeding a craving. It allows me to separate the hunger from the emotion.

@@ChelseaMae I won’t allow myself or others to make me feel guilty about eating. I will make sure that I have preferred foods available for quick eating. Yesterday I made a big batch of veggie soup w potatoes so I could have a hot meal in 5 min ( it’s cold here). I’ve been catering for a few groups dinners and I do t want to eat their meals. Also, I observed family members during the holidays where the man ate large SAD meals while his wife ate tiny portions of the same and he judged her every bite. Then watched them eat a days worth of calories in super high calorie density treats. I went home and made a iced mocha coffee knowing that I had “treated” my body better. I didn’t fill sick or bloated afterwards.

Just a suggestion if it helps (because i saw that you put the minutes so you did the job hehe), if you start with 00:00 and write them in "portions" in the description of the video, the progress bar will automatically divide into those "chapters", if that helps ♥ it would be like:

03:39 - 10:44 How to kill cravings - prepare for battle

    16:40 - 20:06 Win the war

Thanks, Chelsea, something I have been giving thought to lately - and funnily enough every time, I would say to myself "what would Chelsea advice be or say" Then Bang You do a video on it.
over the holidays, (heatwave is a killer) I found myself alone for 3 weeks. Did not go anywhere, nobody came to visit and I live alone. I realized I was eating out of boredom. Yes, I will admit it. I had to find a solution = quickly. I love carbs, (pasta, bread). I would make a chip roll (or is it called chip sandwich?) or pasta with pesto. So did not feel too guilty. Then the next meal, I would only have veg or a green salad (too hot to cook). I know its out of boredom, and hopefully Chelsea will not get too angry with me, I eventually found a solution. Tomorrow Monday, life gets back to normal - will be easier to have 50/50 plates. Thankfully, I did not put on any weight (am over 60 so weight loss will be slower)
Happy New Year Chelsea and family

P.S. Hm, I am thinking right now, that when I see the cake or baked good, and I give in and eat it, I usually feel bad right after I ate it. So, thanks, dopamin hit for nothing. And besides: why does my subconscious not tell me that eating the cake will make me feel bad and warn me beforehand? There is a fault in all of this. I am searching for the answer for years now. Some say it is bacteria in one`s intestines that send out signal to the brain. It is kind of creepy. I know it is not habits, because I haven`t had a cinnamon bun for years and all of a sudden I could stuff myself with them. I had been vegan for 7 years and all of a sudden I crave eggs like crazy. Sometimes I wish all this food addiction would be as easily managed as quitting smoking. I smoked for 14 years and gave up cold turkey in 1998. I just conditioned myself to not liking cigarette smoke. I used Alan Car`s "Easy Way Out" book. It really works. But with food it is different, because we can`t just quit eating. Alan Carr also wrote a book on weight loss, where he promotes a fruitarian diet. I have been there and it worked for a few years, but then I went back to old eating habits. It always felt like a battle to me. Fighting all of the foods, the people that thought I was crazy and so on. I was just to tired in the end to keep up the struggle. But I need to find a solution, because I have rheumatoid arthritis since 2015. I was doing fine, but all the trigger foods are always in my house. My sons eat the normal standard way and I have to cook for them all. Forget about cleaning out the invirenment. It is not going to happen. Forget the extra space in the fridge or cupboard. I will find the goodies anywhere. Besides, the stores and supermarkets are full of them. And seriously, an adict always finds his or her foods. I am one of those people who eat the leftover food of their kids`plates. It seems a waste to me to throw it out. It has been ingrained in me since childhood to eat up what`s on your plate and not to waste anything. I do freeze or refridgerate leftovers sometimes, but not when it is just a few spoons full. Yeah, topics to consider, I guess. I had an interview with Clint Paddison in 2017. It is on his channel, about family considerations and healing rheumatoid arthritis. But after all these years things did not get better, they got worse. I guess Mulan-Me has still a lot of work to do.
