No. Not enough range for the riding I do, let alone charging issues. Once those are solved, it will be hard to move away from something with a clutch. Nothing more rewarding than hammering through the gears in the mountains. Electric bikes are great for urban riding. Aside from that, it will be hard to sway the masses.
Driving the Eva Ribelle for a year now, great bike. Very happy with it. No problems at all with the bike. Mostly charging at home (commuting traffic) Agree with some CSS charging problems, Shell and Ionity chargers seems to have problems. FastNed chargers always work (Dutch company) So problem must be solvable. And agreed, in fast curves the bike weight is noticeable.
Love the Ribelle! I think that would be the model I would get as well if I go for the Energica. Yes takes some time to iron out the charging issues I think.
The old "loud pipes save lives" myth has been (scientifically!) debunked a while ago. Drivers in a car will not notice the noises of a conventionally powered bike until it is actually ride beside the car (right before impact) due to insulation alone.
Disagree from personal experience. I’m a rider who has ridden a number of bikes and I can instantly see a difference in drivers reactions when they can hear a bike coming vs not.
@@GeekCulture you are not disagreeing. If they NOTICED (not just heard) you of course they'll react differently. And of course some drivers HEAR you. But having loud pipes (unless truly obnoxiously/illegaly so) doesn't statistically impact how many drivers NOTICE bikers
@@GeekCulture You can disagree all you like. There is NO evidence to show that a louder bike improves safety. As such, if no evidence exists to prove something, then it is false.
That's the bike for me , I love it , thanks for the wonderful review of this premium bike by a biker , the mileage is more than my Model 3 Tesla does. just gotta start LOTS $$$s saving. Hopefully by the time I can afford one , Shell will have their charging 🤝 fixed.
i have ss-+ over 3 months (7000km already) only drawback FOR ME are longer trips, at 25*C or more ambient temps first charging will be quick 20-80% and should take 20-25min -after that battery indicator temp will change from green to yellow - yellow mean ok but then charging is limited to 35-50A (depend of battery temp) which means second chargging will take 40-45min fast/fun range (10-90%) is about 130-140km, tour riding (mountains = lower speed/curves) about 190-220km
I bought it last week through an importer here in Dubai since they have no dealerships or agencies here but they partnered with a bike service center which is good so they can repair it whenever something is wrong with it. it will be shipped next month here in Dubai. This is my second electric bike, my first one was a Zero DSR i really loved it but lacked some range especially here in the Dubai heat.
my first moto was kawasaki er6n 2008 - I made only 2-3k km over 2 years, and I sold it - i realized/decided moto riding its not for me (hot/vibrations/loud) - after 5 years of NOT riding at all i decided to buy this one (ss9+) - 7000km over 3 months - its awesome
Hey jour comment about the fact that cars will notice noisy bike IS wrong. When you ear Loud pipes you Nevers know where its coming from...Best thing IS to be seen ! Thus on all motorcycles thé security IS to have highbeam led lights. Several recent studies showed that there was not more attention from car drivers with vert load pipes ans silent ones.
I can only describe my experiences riding here in Singapore and the way traffic moves. I say this for two reasons: 1. With the amount of multimedia in cars now distractions are higher and drivers are less aware. 2. If you live in a city or town that allows lane splitting this extra noise can help keep drivers aware there is something around them. While there is more tech coming into cars like blind spot detection it sometimes isn’t enough.
I’m Florida they found Harley’s get run over MORE than any other bike. When you deafen the elderly they tend to duck away from the sound and turn into it so no, loud pipes make you a target

LOL, haters are so funny. As good as these bikes are now just wait till they've had the time and innovation like a gas bike has gone through. The 1st VCR was $1200, the last one was $29.95, batteries will get better as will charging and the motors. A few years from now people will be riding EV for pennies and the haters will still be sending their dollars to the Middle East. Very cool bike, I'll be glad when the prices come down to my range. The 1st Teslas were over $100k, now there are ones you can buy for $43k.
Trusting your life to someone else's attention is a recipe for disaster. Loud pipes saves lives is irresponsible. Accept the responsibility for your own life no excuses or dont ride. How do I know? 50 years of riding a collection of 10+ bikes both in the Isle of Man and UK from GSXR 1000 K5 to Suzuki Stinger 125. The Zero SRF (my third electric bike) is the bike I keep riding, I ride in all weathers. To say its a heavy bike use the back brake not the front is so wrong, always use the front brake subject to adhesion, and on an EV with high regen set the rear tyre is often being worked hard anyway. My SRF is one of the most manoeuvrable bikes I have. Pulse the front brake on walking pace turns, use the front brake to micro compress the forks and bounce the bike back to stay static (trials technique) a clutch is not needed. The SRF is not silent but its quite enough that on slow country back roads with blind bends I can already here the tractor coming the other way before I see it and he sees me so my silence has already given me another tool in the tool box to look after myself. You enter that bend on a noisy bike and you spook a horse, good luck dealing with that nightmare on the exit. Fitting a speaker! Dont make me laugh, peace and quiet is precious enough in this day and age without folks actively polluting that as well........take responsibility ride fast and ride safe, ride aware, your life is your responsibility.
Hi. My experiences here in Asia sound different than yours and your comparing a different bike vs the one I’m reviewing. As for speakers, they are already doing this with Electric cars so why is it surprising if this happens to motorcycles. The energica weight and feel is different. Try using the front brake on it and your will be surprised how it feels. There were plenty of riders who dropped it doing just that on slow manoeuvring. We all take a risk every time we are on the road but there are some things we can do to alert drivers out there. Obnoxiously loud exhausts is not what I’m talking about, but some sound does help. Cars have multimedia systems in them now and people are constantly distracted. Take care and ride safe.
There is a system being developed for bikes with speakers all over the bike and it even adds vibration I think, can't remember what it's called. It also had different engine type simulation and adjusted the power band of the bikes to be like a 2 stroke or a v4 etc I think there might be a market for something like that on some bikes, for some people.
Cool bike, terrible review. Why take a bike of the future and put a speaker for fake exhaust noise? And no loud pipes do not save lives. It is old bullshit that has been disproven by statistics of real crashes.
Well you ride here and see what it’s like with cars not hearing motorcycles, suddenly switch lanes and put people in hospitals. Not sure where you are from but yes hearing a bike does save lives. Be it an old saying or not, it’s true

I ride a Zero SR/S. It has a unique noise that actually gets you noticed. I had just as many pedestrians walk in front of me when I had my 1700 VMAX, and that was not quiet.
