One of the best Hot Toys in recent years imo. Very unique. Loving the new techniques they're using. I actually liked this movie... a guilty pleasure for me! Great review Justin!
Couldnt have agreed more... they said they were gonna make this a very dark movie with a horror tone. But that was just a load of bull.. It was like a low budget Marvel film with a bunch of lame ass comedic scenes and godawful rushed writing. If i had to pick a “good” scene from the film it is easily the confrontation of Hellboy with Baba Yaga... The way that scene is shot and directed feels so thrilling to watch and it genuinely felt like a horror movie! I wish almost all the film was in the same tone as that scene 🤦🏻♂️
I hated the gore in that film, it looked like shit AND it honestly felt really mean spirited...idk why but the gore really rubbed me the wrong way, I think it’s because you could tell it was really forced and just there to add shock value...I love Ash Vs Evil Dead and the gore in the show/ film series always felt like it was meant to be there, like it added a certain charm to the series, but with Hellboy 2019, it really did come off as just trying too hard to be hardcore and edgy
Jeez, For a figure from a pretty mediocre movie, the detail and accessories for this guy are phenomenal. Those flame effects might be the best I’ve seen so far from Hot Toys
@@willfomes406 I Personally wouldn't. It's one of those films that are too concerned with setting up a "Cinematic universe" and it suffers greatly in pacing, tone and story because of it. I you wanna watch a good Hellboy movie then watch the Del Toro films or even the underrated animated films.
@@youshallnotpass3937 Unfaithful in story? Yes, very, No question about it but in characterization Del Toro nailed it the characters felt like themselves for example let's compare the main character in both films Del Toro's Hellboy: He's sarcastic, pessimistic and jealous but he's also professional, cares for his father deeply and loves his girlfriend with all his heart. At the end of the day all he wants to do is kick up his feet and relax. Reboot Hellboy: Is overly emotional, whiney and seems to hate his Dad which is confusing because at the his Dad's death is what motivates Hellboy to kill the main villen in the end similar to the Del Toro film but it didn't feel earned.
Great review Justin, this figure turned out so fantastic! Definitely will be picking it up, I really enjoyed the movie and loved David Harbour’s portrayal of hellboy.
Great review Justin! Super detailed as always. So glad I have this one on preorder. I bet they didn't make a lot of these. It will be a grail in the future I'm sure.
Such an amazing figure... I really wish the movie had as much care and effort put into it as this piece. David in my opinion was a great casting choice to portray Hellboy. I’ll always be nostalgic to Ron Perlman but David gave his best with what the script had to offer to him. I would have loved for the film to succeed so he was able to do more movies as Hellboy 👌
@@tabes10 i agree 100%. And for the price, it makes it even worse.. it looks like one of those marvel legends figures. If it was a brand like that, then it would have been a great buy. But not for a hot toys figure.
I really dig the deleted scenes, including the original opening without the voiceover. So much vocally was added throughout the movie for what seems to be no reason, as well as lots of comedy added (some of it was fine, other times it was too much or not funny at all). My favorite parts have to be his vision of where he has the sword and he rides his dragon into battle (which was so damn cool), and the deleted scene with Nimue (probably spelled it wrong) where they are showering together in a shower of blood! Such a cool deleted scene that I wish stayed in the movie.
I think he was more mascular in the movie though. Especially when he emerges from the pit you can see that. And he had dark hair on his back and chest. But arms not having obvious separation and carcass being hidden under rubber is impressive.
@@JustinsCollection Yeah, his torso is way thicker and when he emerges from the pit with his Horns grown back and Fire Crown above the head, you can see he's also way more mascular.
Hellboy, the Demon of Hell, is my favorite character. He might cross over with Venom and Ghost Rider and they can make the badass team called The Hell Team😎
I was waiting for your video. I preordered him at sideshow and paid him off but I wanted him now so I ordered him at Toys Wonderland. So yes I'll be getting two, did I like the movie? I did or at least liked some parts but it's mostly because I'm a huge Hellboy fan and have and read all the comics. Definitely can't wait to get him soon.
The hand with the wrap and the chain piece is most likely meant for the rosary piece that goes on his wrist. Also the gun with the redish wood grip is actually the new gun he gets in the movie which is probably why it doesn't have wear and tear.
Great review as always Justine. Ignore the under par movie.... this figure is awesome and has so much presence. I was on the fence, but will be picking this up at toys wonderland hopefully by the weekend. Do love a seamless body.
Another nice review. Thanks Justin. Regarding that right shoulder issue I had seen a similar issue with another figure and wonder if the shoulder joint under the rubber skin is properly aligned to rotate down
No more pleather flaking and a seamless body! Kudos to Hot Toys. Maybe not the best Hellboy film, but definitely the best figure. Do you think metal endoskeletons will be the new standard? At least for the seamless bodies?
I actually liked the movie how Hellboy was portrayed differently then the other films, heck if you have seen the movies you know the difference like flushed out character backgrounds, plus I like seeing movies with Ian McShane portraying various character(s) pending on the movie
Such a great figure. So much effort for a figure which very well might fly under the radar. I like the movie for what it is: a crazy trashy B-movie. Really looking foward to it's arrival at my door steps. Great review. Thank you for that. Watched a few the last couple of days and no one figured out that this Hellboy has a metal endoskeletton. Good job Sherlock!
Yeah, the film was a bit of a letdown ,but David harbour was a great fit for hellboy and this figure is incredible, love the sculpt on that seamless body and the headsculpt is ace, great review Justin, thank you
I thought the movie was bad compared to Pearlman's Hellboy, but this figure is a 10/10. I want this! I wish hot Toys would take a break from marvel and star wars to do older movie, non-superhero figures again!
The movie itself is not as bad as critics suggest...but is not great either. Is on par with Underworld sequels or Blade 3. Only fans of the franchise can get a kick of it. Harbour himself was awesome and so was the design of Hellboy.
Man, this is so tempting. I guess one saving grace is if you have bad luck with the body over time, you could always put the shirt and jacket on to completely hide it and still have a solid looking figure. For the arm issue, have you tried seeing if there is any play with the arms moving up and down in the joint, similar to Commander Cody? They look a little offset from one another at the end of the video, and that may be why the one arm isn't sitting flush like the other?
Ron Perlman was Hellboy! He brought charisma and great screen presence to the role, deserved a third outing with baby Hellboy! Good figure and looks good, big horror fan, but even though I enjoyed the remake, not the same, shame!
