That insulation looks like putting a duvet around the van. Windows look ace. Enjoyed that. Cheers

Aw man, I wrapped my vivaro... Was a brilliant thing to learn and was hard at parts but was really satisfying to do. Done it on my driveway on the north east coast of Scotland, yes, windy but looks good. I'll have to see what it looks like it a year's time of course though

Windows look awesome, did he tint inside and out?

Thank you.... he only tinted the inside... he used the outside to shape it then transfer to the inner part of the window

Hi , just found your chanel via Wilfs Whereabouts, and glad I did as I'm hoping to do a "cheap and cheerful" coversion my old Vauxhall Combo van, starting with the insulation. If I may ask, as it's an old van and only cost me £500, can I get away with just buying and using the Dial rolls of insulation and not bother with the sound deading or vapour foil ??. Looking to save some money and in all fairness I'm probs not sleeping in it in the middle of winter,,,,,,,,,

You don't need sound deadening really on such a small van with Insulation. Noise will be reduced partly by that. I would use a cheaper vapour barrier like plastic if you didn't want to use foil. You can but a roll of plastic dust sheet fro. Screwfix or toolstation for about 6 quid I think but don't quite me on that price, it's is cheaper and does the same job as long as its taped and sealed well

Just found your channel, its a good un 👍 well done. Quick question regarding your tailgate is there a handle inside to open it? I've a crew van version and there isn't a proper internal handle, cheers

No there isnt a handle inside that is my only fault with this van. Are you converting your van and how far have you got?

@@BuiltnotBoughtCampers thanks for the response. I'm gonna make this more of a "day" van as its my family motor and back up works van. Plan is to keep it as a crew van but insulate, carpet and then ply line the back load space. Then fit a roof vent & some kind of rear window blind. Put on a roof rack and some USB points in the back seat area for the kids. That way we can use it for camping and sleep in the back on air mattresses.
Starting to look out for another traffic already though to go full camper!
      Cheers 🍻

I pernally wouldnt. theres a risk of water absorption. the plastic stuff is ok. @Combe Valley campers use the plastic recycled stuff.

Thanks for the fast reply and I was planning on 2 m2. I've got a vivaro lwb which we're going to convert it will still be a work van but has a full length roof rack for sheet material. I'm going to use the b&q insulation lots of good reviews. My budget is £1.6k, no solar or gas, I think the big extravagance will be a swivel base for the passenger seats. Watching your videos with great interest cheers James

@@jamesk7984 I have a video coming out soon on swivel bases as I've used audi seats. Have you watched the airbag bypass resistor video it allows you to pur any seat in.
I've also used universal seat bases as they are also alot cheaper.

@@jamesk7984 - I always get surprised and similarly shocked that people are still going for all these crappy products. That are not even cheap!
In one word "Rockwool". Outstanding thermal properties and sound insulation next to none. Impervious to water is also a nice feature. And best of all, cheap... Either in soft mats or semi rigid form. Your choice.
Gosh! How the hell in this day and age with so much YT. People can't get it right...
Another tip: VERY effective and dirty cheap. Get a few tubes of silicone or any other flexible sealant/adhesive, of your choice. And go trough ALL the mating panels on the van. Apply a bead between the panel and the respective reinforcement. Ceiling, walls, etc. metal panels vibration and noise reverberation will be incredibly reduced, for almost nothing. On top it's really easy/fast to apply and I'll say again very cheap! ;-) Internal noise will be quite reduced. Than top it of with whatever solutions you choose. As a side note. Manufacturers already put small amounts here and there. But not even close to make a big difference. On top the rigidity of the "box" is quite improved also. Making for a lot less squeaks & squawks while on the road! Win-Win situation. ;-)
My first camper was done decades ago. No Amazon, YT, Instagram, etc. in those days. And still came up better and way cheaper... Even nowadays with £1.6k I could make an "Hotel", what about that?! LOL 😂
Hope this help for a wiser choice.
