      Austroraptor is a cool Dromaeosaur and one of my favorite Dromaeosaurs after Velociraptor, Deinonychus, Microraptor and Sirornithosaurus plus Dakotoraptor and Acheroraptor and I didn't even know that Austroraptor could catch fish just like Spinosaurs like Spinosaurus and Barxyonx as well as pterosaurs like Pteranodon and Nyctosaurus. I didn't know about Austroraptor until I watched Prehistoric Planet 2 (2023). While I am disappointed that they didn't feature Austroraptor in Jurassic World: Dominion (2022), I think I might feature this Dromeaosaur species as well as all my other favorite Tyrannosaur, Gigantosaurus, Dromaeosaur, Ornithomind, Oviraptorosaur, Titanosaur, Amargasaurus, Ceratopisan, hadrosaur, Anklyosaur, pterosaur, ammonite, shark, marine reptile and early mammal species from the Late Cretaceous (Also featured in Prehistoric Planet (2022) and Prehistoric Planet 2 (2023)) in a chapter book story I am planning to write inspired by Zooptoia (2016), Zooptoia Plus (2022), Sing (2016), Sing 2 (2021), The Good Dinosaur (2015), The Land Before Time series, the Night at the Museum franchise, my favorite AMNH, Met Museum and science and nature reference books and Walking With Dinosaurs (1999), Planet Dinosaur (2011), Prehistoric Planet (2022-2023), Blue Planet (2001) and Planet Earth (2006) or maybe even an upcoming science, paleontology and dinosaur reference book similar to The World of Dinosaurs: An Illustrated Tour (2019), Mesozoic Art: Dinosaurs and Other Ancient Animals in Art (2022) I am planning to write about coelurosaurs like Tyrannosaurs, Monokyus, Ornithominds, Oviraptosaurs, Dromeosaurs, early birds and Therizinosaurs plus Titanosaurs like Patagotitan and Argentinosaurus.

    Austroraptor is an interesting Dromaeosaur. I never heard of Austroraptor until I watched the Prehistoric Planet 2 (2023) episode Swamps. When most people think of Dromaeosaurs they normally think of Velociraptor from Mongolia in the Late Cretaceous (Later the Nemegt Formation and Djachota Formation), Deinonychus from Montana in the Late Cretaceous (Later the Cloverly Formation) Dakotoraptor also from Montana in the Late Cretaceous (Later the Hell Creek Formation) and their relatives Microraptor and Sirornithosaurus from China in the Late Cretaceous who mostly prey on early mammals, lizards and hadrosaurs, Ceratopisans like Protoceratops, Tentnosaurus and Oviraptor and Citipati and have features in common with modern birds like flight-ready brains, feathers and hollow bones. But there is also Austroraptor who not only had features in common with modern birds but they also were good at catching bony fishes from freshwater rivers and streams to eat just like Spinosaurus and Baryonx. (While those theropod dinosaurs were not featured in Prehistoric Planet (2022) or Prehistoric Planet 2 (2023) they were featured in Planet Dinosaur (2011)).

    I disagree with the portrayed fishing strategy. If that fern-like tail is correct, then it would make more sense for a pair bonded Austroraptors to stand beside each other while facing the opposite direction, looking much like a small tree in a flooded forest, the fish looking to hide in the cover swims into unsuspected jaws that snap closed. Their wings held over their eyes to prevent sun glare, their partner keeps watch, so they take turns, likely sharing the fish as a social gesture.

    • @jacobcox4565
      @jacobcox4565 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That seems like a really complex and speculative behavior that is very likely to not be true. Also, have you seen how small their wings are? There's no way they could use their wings like that.

    Oh so the script writers were this ignorant that they decided to gloss over Austroraptor's most peculiar features--those being the shorter arms and smaller sickle claws which were traded off in placement of the piscivorous diet?

    • @thedogman7846
      @thedogman7846 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      The most peculiar features of Austroraptor is that it was a gigantic dromeasaur that adapted to a piscovorous diet, unlike the more known velociraptors, deinonychus and utahraptor. That‘s why they focused on this behaviour. If you‘re not blind you can clearly see the shots that demonstrate the smaller claws and shorter arms. The only ignorant here are you
