- American soccer fans are celebrating after FIFA announced Wednesday that the U.S. will co-host the 2026 World Cup along with Mexico and Canada. TV host and podcaster Roger Bennett is among the fans rejoicing. He is one of the soccer-obsessed "Men in Blazers" and the co-writer of the new book, "Encyclopedia Blazertannica: A Suboptimal Guide to Soccer, America's 'Sport of the Future' Since 1972." He is also host of the podcast, "American Fiasco," which traces the rise and fall of the U.S. national team in the 1990s. Bennett joins "CBS This Morning" to preview the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Doesn't seem like they are going to use that stadium, but they can always change their mind. My guess for not using it is because they want to use the stadium solely for the 2028 Summer Olympics. However, using it for the World Cup tournament could have been a good tester.
As a Moroccan myself I am happy we don't host the FIFA World Cup. It's to expensive and the money should be spend on education, healthcare, poverty reduction, job creation, infrastructure and agriculture. We have seen it in South Africa and Brazil, not worth it. Congratz Canada, USA and Mexico.

The kids who don’t play AYSO which is what you are referring to have the options to play club. I coach team in Los Angeles; however we lack the academy structure found in Latin America and Europe and capable coaches. We need to send American coaches to Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain and make the long term investment so that one day we can at least make a semifinal. Uruguay is fairly small but produced really good players and compete rather well.
Or you know, send them over to Europe.

Bro stadiums here average 70k+. Even college stadiums can host 70k+ people. Not sure were you are getting your incorrect information from. These games will be played in NFL Stadiums. Every game I've been to see Mexico play have all been 70k+ fans. Except for the one against Iceland last week. Attendance was 44k because of covid but the stadium they played can hold can hold 105k fans. The US probably has around 40 Wembly Stadiums or even more.
