repeatability has been ok, even at 4-5 passes. seems like your unit has mechanical problems. I'd love to see the software open sourced because the fixes probably aren't that hard. Rhino has been in financial trouble for years it seems based on their lack of updates and spending what $ they did have on the new dolly product.
It’s just really strange because in the beginning when I was testing- the software worked fine. When I upgraded to version 2.0, it all started failing. I’ve barely had a chance to use this thing, and I know other people’s units work better. They’ve been pretty reluctant to do anything about it. At the end of the day, AXIBO has a better product with way better software and I’ve been really happy with it. Currently working on some testing and comparisons to put together another video.
@@chiassoo interesting as my unit came with either 1.9 or 2.0 when delivered. It does have some backlash issues but I'm also using a probe lens a lot, or longer focal lengths. All MC including Bolts need to be stabilized to take out minor shakes, that was part of my learning process. Having felt burned by Rhino, Axibo was something I looked at but worried they might go the same way in flaming out after a big start. FWIW I moved on to DragonFrame rig with a zDMC-16. I can run the emotimo ST 3.4 head on its own, or run the entire rig plus other motors with DF + DMC, with the ST 3.4 runs on a USB connection. emotimo has adapters to run the Rhino motors for slider and the FF so I basically set the ARC2 head aside just for basic TL. I figured reusing the Rhino slider and motors which are prefectly good made more sense than getting yet another slider setup.
Good call. I tried selling mine with all the bells and whistles- I can’t get rid of this thing. I was selling for 1000$ Canadian, and still nobody wanted it. It’s so inaccurate. It might as well just be broken.
Well... given how Kyle says on Lone Peak's website that he doesn't really care about filmmaking... and their customer service is lack luster at best while also attacking customers... i'm not surprised
I have been disappointed with this unit since I purchased it in 2021. I've really only used it on 2 shoots effectively. Such as waste of money for us small companies.
I've basically just put it down at this point. I'm trying to sell it for literally any amount, It's a great idea, but very poorly executed. I just bought the axibo set- I hope it does a little bit better.
Unfortunately it seems Kyle isn't a very good serial entrepreneur. I've watched the Lone Peak wedge camper and they seem to have similar small "incomplete issues" going on. First campers are just getting delivered after almost 2 years for their first purchasers. Most recent update had a pretty good amount of small overlooked issues. Their upfront about them, but I wonder how long they'll go before they just start departing from having a really well put together product and just jump into the next thing. My thought is he's a great "idea guy" but hasn't found the right integrator he respects to tell him "no" or explain why they may need to slow down etc. ... I feel like he has the ability to be a great owner, but unfortunately great products are typically built with a heavy dedication and focus to ONE THING. At least until that one thing has a dominant market share. I'd stear clear for now, especially with that paragraph in the lone peak website. What a terrible oversight haha.
Yeah, I get the exact same vibes... he's been doing camera stuff for years now but they just didn't want to pay a software developer to finish the project. It took 3 years for 5 keyframes, and meanwhile a company like axibo just has unlimited out the door. It's always a gamble buying in to these small companies, this was an expensive loss.

So what ended up happening?
