Hi Rob, thanks a lot for the Wiki link! I had checked that myself when I recorded the romance. I would agree that it definitely later than the Sor period. The voicing shows an late romantic Andalusian approach - slightly aficionado style. Most interpretations underestimate the romantic beauty of this chain of pearls. Cheers from Cologne Wulfin.
@@WulfinLieske Yes, definitely mid to late Romantic era, post-Sor. A lot of professionals are embarrassed to play it, so I'm pleased you have deemed it worthy of recording. Best wishes to you from Edinburgh. Rob
I hope you can read this. I grew up with my father playing guitar. He is very talented and he always plays this piece before he plays other music with his guitar. I miss him so much. He passed away 6 years ago. Whenever I hear this, it always reminds me of my childhood with my dad. Today, I am learning classical guitar and this is my favorite piece of all time. It feels like a part of my father will always be with me as long as I hear this music. Thank you. You played very wonderfully.
from someone who mainly plays electric guitar, classical guitar will always this unparalleled level of raw emotion that I’ll never be able to get over. It really does come from the soul.
Sounds like you need to get yourself a classical guitar, Shaggy. And buy the method book I used to teach myselfL Solo Guitar Playing by Frederick Noad, which has this piece in it.

Very musically playing of this seemingly easy piece. When I played classical guitar at dinners, weddings and in churches in the '80-ies and '90-ies, people more than once asked me to play the Romance Anonimo.
I was enchanted watching you play that piece. I've recently realized that I finally have the ability to learn a piece like that, and that thought brings me joy.
Good. Pleased for you. It is much more difficult than most beginners think, leading to disillusionment. But keep doing whatever you are doing, and a whole world of music opens up for you.

Thanks, Linda! Many professionals are embarrassed to play it, but it's not such a bad piece. It has turned many people on to playing the guitar. It sounds easy, but has some awkward moments!
I love your playing. Best version of the Romance Anónimo I've heard. I am not much into this piece but I enjoyed it a lot and it caught me in a perfect mood for it. :) How do you record yourself? Camera and mic. I want to record myself with higher quality than my phone ;)
Due to it being such an old song as well as the composer being anonymous they were able to play a version of it on their first record under the name romance so partly yes and partly no
Hi Beau. 650 - I thought it was shorter, as it's very easy to play. However, the distance between the 1st and 6th strings is only 48mm, which is too narrow for me, but perfect for normal and smaller-sized hands.
