I don't like trebles either. Try replacing them with VMC In Line 2/0 single hooks. You might miss a few, but they really seem to work just as well and you don't get the secondary hooks damaging the fish. Much easier to deal with for both you and the fish.

I appreciate the tip! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for tuning in 👍

I carry grippers and always use them if I use a lure with double treble hooks- I've gotten stung a few times in the middle of nowhere and had to do field surgery with a pair of pliers, and it was NOT fun.

You think that low branch was stressful? I lost my first and only plopper in a pine tree 15 feet up for a whole year. I got lucky this year and it was dangling by the old line. I cast a sinker over the hooks and got it back.

Yeah, that's no fun. Ploppers are too expensive to lose. Glad you were able to get it back!

A few years ago, I had a very bad mishap with a treble hooked lure that caused a trip to the hospital for removal, since then I ALWAYS have a " Fish Grip " clamping device of some type with me when using multi hook lures, they are a lot cheaper than another trip to the ER and keep your hands well away from the hooks and a flapping fish!!!

Whopper plopper for the win! Definitely need to add this lure to my tackle box. Great video and solid catches 👏

Those spots like that are fun to throw a brush hog on Texas rig.

I agree. I have a video fishing the same area with a zoom lizard. Had a blast and caught a lot of fish.

I use a Choppo and I love it. I also have a heart attack every time i get it snagged. Lol

I've been meaning to try one of those. They look sweet. Definitely not a lure you want to lose or snag though. Thanks for watching!

I haven't used a whopper plopper but I am guessing they are very similar. great content on your channel!

I fish for Smallmouth a lot. I have thrown the Whopper plopper a ton of times. I have yet to catch one fish. I've had one fish Swirl at it. And I would love to catch fish off of it. And the places I fish are full of smallmouth. I'll throw the exact same one that you're throwing. I'm not saying it doesn't work. However it doesn't work for me and a lot of my buddies either. I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong

It could be because of your environment, or the color of your whopper plopper or even the weather outside. If it’s too cold or getting colder they might not go for it. And it varies from body of water to body of water. So it could be a ton of different variables because yeah, sometimes a whopper plopper won’t get the job done for where your fishing at and you just gotta go with somethin else, but yeah just thought I’d let yah know man 🍻

When the water is low these monsters get trapped in the pools and, ponds of river beds Good job
Be mindful & safe even predator fish like bowfin, alligator gar lots of teeth . Keep a 1’st aid 🚨 kit . Plenty of iodine antiseptics it’s easy to get infected.
