Just a few extra thoughts that came to mind while editing this video: - It's incredible how much you can accomplish when you love what you're working on. - On the topic of taking care of yourself, I think that doing some activities that are completely unrelated to the rest of your work can be a great way to detach and recharge; similarly, taking some vacation here and there--even just a couple of days where you detach ~70%, can go a long way to keeping you sane. - For those of you who are curious, a video like this one takes anywhere between 6 and 8 hours to complete, from inception to upload.
@Clément can you make a video about your resume and process that you went thru to stand out to get your intreview? Maybe explain what job boards you used if any or did you have someone that recommended you that was already working at google or facebook. Do you recommend starting a youtube channel for exposure. Did someone just contact you one day and say "Hey come in for a interview"? What's your advice? if one is already made then i apologize and can you link it as a reply. Thanks and love your channel.
Yeah I am looking forward to the burnout video. Although its only happened to me once and only for a few days, and ive learned a lot since it would be nice to see how others avoid this.
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the password. I would love any help you can give me!
4:35 "If someone's figured out how to get twenty-five hours per day, call me." I managed to have a 31-hour day recently: I travelled from Europe to the US. Does that qualify as a good way of adding hours to your day? 😁
Mind === Blown Though this reminds me: when I went to Seoul, South Korea, earlier this year, on our way back to the U.S., we left Seoul on a Saturday at 11:00 AM and arrived in the U.S. on the same Saturday at 11:00 AM. I think you're onto something.
The real game may not be about 24 hr allocation, but allocation of time over a decade. 1. Get into something, or somethings, which lead to financial success. 2. Do things, which, on maturity, allow 6-7 hrs of sleep daily. This is how you can decide what work to do.
Bro, your videos are one of the most valuable videos on TH-cam EVER. Like literally you just go straight to the point, you have some really good sense of humor and that's AMAZING considering the video title and the work you do are serious a bit. Thank you for your content and KEEP DOING WHAT YOU LOVE ❤️
Hey Clement! I also want to thank you from the bottom of my heart!! As a mechatronics undergrad considering becoming an SWE, I find your videos to be extremely helpful! They are giving me so much invaluable information and insight into the software engineering industry, and also a lot of general advice like this one! Really appreciate them! Btw you are my favorite youtuber! Keep up the good work!
I think this was your best video yet. I don't want to work as many hours as you so I'm OK if my endeavors take a bit longer. I'm glad you put that bit in there about finding your values and making them a priority.
Good advice. For me, doing some exercise is critical when you're sitting down most of the day. I do callisthenics but a simple walk outside is good enough. Thanks for sharing how long it takes to you making these videos, you're pretty fast. My last video took more around 15-20 hours but I'm just starting out.
Before even watching your video, here's my take on this: alignment. Everything in your life (meaning, at least the subjects you spoke about in the title) are related and they complement / leverage each other somehow.
The tip about clearing small tasks as soon as possible is proving to be super helpful!! I wouldn't have thought that 😃 need more content on productivity and lifestyle 😂
You have so many good tips but I think the tips in this video are amazing. I realized that mixing everything you do together is really tiring and this video kinda made it clear how to start separating them
Clement, I like the way you have optimized it and openly talked about mindfulness and happiness. Many a time it's hard to find people like us. Thanks for sharing, please keep doing more.
Awesome video! I personally have been struggling a lot with maintaining a good lifestyle. One book that has helped me recently a lot is "Atomic Habits". It covers most of the stuff that you are already talking about in this video. Apart from this, I do spend most of my work hours just listening to your videos on the background and they actually keep me motivated. So, thank you for that Clement!
Great vid Clement! Really appreciate the genuine advice in this one. Could you add to the list of videos to make in the future regarding all the physical health issues that a lot of software engineers don't talk about like RSI, hip pain, neck pain etc?. Basically all the bad stuff that can happen when you sit at a desk all day coding and/or not looking after your health. I wish someone had told me about this when I first started out (taking regular breaks, stretching routines, correct body posture, different types of keyboards, blue light filter for eyes in the evenings etc). P.S. That like button was smashed! XD
Some sound advice there. I myself am busy heading down a similar journey and you have certainly given me a few things to think about, but I think most importantly being explicit on how time is spent and understanding that it has a cost. Thank you for the advise.
Here is another tip: if you keep your pizza box, you can slide it back in the box once heated and you won't need a plate! It saves you from washing the dishes and it keeps the pizza hot! I used to do that when working in research.
So you are like me! I have an exigent full-time job, founded my startup on the first year of college(studying two bachelors at the same time) meanwhile doing magic, having a girlfriend and keeping in shape! I just haven't thought about becoming a TH-camr
I used to feel bad about just wanting to write code all day. I work full time developing software, and then I come home and write more. But what I've realised is that its just what I love doing, so I shouldn't be annoyed with myself or try and change it. Now I just need to figure out how to make my coding at home profitable...
😂🤣😂 My first time here. My fav' tip is the one about doing the 1000 little things so they don't add up and drive me nuts. Remind me not to take wellness advice from you as I will surely pass on the midnight pizza! 🤣 Loved this. 👍 Subbed!
Clem, great time-optimizing tips! It's amazing the level of accomplishment you are achieving and sustaining at such young age. I also know that you work out on top of everything else. One small recommendation I would give you is regarding your "midnight snacks". It's true that popping a pizza in the oven is very simple and a time-saver, and you can guess what I'm going to say next. Not the healthiest of snacks. You are still young and can get away with it, but later in life it will be more costly to your health. I know it's a pain, but maybe look for healthier snacks, like nuts (walnuts, almonds, pistachios,...) or a piece of fruit (not juice, though) or some cheese or yogurt, or protein bars and protein shakes. I am a subscriber to your channel and happy algoexpert.io customer. I always look forward to your videos. Thank you and keep rocking!
Yeah, I suppose that from a very scientific point of view / underlying "health" point of view, catching up on sleep might not be super accurate, but I can certainly feel rejuvenated after a 14-hour hibernation session.
Hey clement, just want to let you know that you have immense potential to inspire people who are in deep slumber. Just keep uploading insights like these. The video hit the point just perfectly!! Love, Respect from India!!
1. Work alot 2. Everything you do in a day has some cost in any form. 3. Time is more valuable resource. 4. Micro optimise your life. 5. Separate all activities which you are doing. 6. Get little things out of your way. 7. Love what you do. Make sure this is a lifestyle you want. 8. Take care of yourself.
I think I once read somewhere that you can't fully catch up on missed sleep (like several days after you start depriving yourself of sleep). A little bit of brain damage remains or whatever. Massive respect for your work ethic though, inspiring to see what's possible
I bought algo expert. It's really good. One thing I would suggest is to maybe breakdown some of the code syntax in earlier questions for the different languages, for those people people not too familiar with the code. It would help alot and doesn't have be for all the problems just the beginning ones to get people sped up or answer questions they might have after looking up the code syntax. Ty.

Notice at @3:30 he says miss out on BEING ABLE to do work. The nuance in mindset is important. Don't view work as something you 'have to do.' If you want to be successful, you have to WANT to work, realize you are in a privileged position to do so, and organize your time around work. It took me longer than I'd care to admit to get to that point haha.

Hey man, Dont eat unhealthy food, I know it is very busy and time-consuming.. but spend like 10 min extra it will pay off in the long run. ( oats, cereals, raw eggs, casein, protein bars, banana, boiled potatoes etc. ) much healthier than the pizza.
I genuinely like your content, i was waiting for something like this, i'll be waiting for more productivity tips. (also can you please make a video on problem solving tips.) Thanks for making these videos, you are awesome 👍.
the thing is i struggle hard to "detach" my brain from work and my own work stuff. The other way around works, because i see a progress in the stuff i want to do. But at work, well i'm just there to get the money i need to live. Endresult is: i'm working at about 20% of my possible effectivity, and i am pretty unmotivated when i'm done to continue my own work, because i feel exhausted. Dunno if that makes sense, but it sucks. Maybe i should try to get into the big 4 as well,.

And I am from India and don't have enough money to join any bootcamp or take paid online course, so please suggest me some cheap or free way to learn code and land in big tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook etc. Thanks
Wow he feels good compared to me.. I’ll study web dev for 3 hrs and read a book 1 hour and feel mentally burnt out for the day! I hope to be a super human like you in due time. God forbid I only get 4 hours off sleep.. nothing will get done
when we start optimization to such an extent, I have seen that it starts taking us away from people around us. It takes us to a lonely place, as people mostly don't think that much to such an extent. There are not so many people that would understand this drive.
Rest assured, when I leave the office, I *leave* the office. They get my time during the work day, they would never get it outside of that. Self sacrifice is never appreciated or rewarded, especially in the context of worklife 👌
@@clem thank you so much for replying! I'm on kind of a similar situation that you... I was on an internship at Google while I had this TH-cam channel and a Python business... I ended up burning out, not handling anything well and didn't get a returning offer from Google. Now, I'm waiting for a Facebook response to a new grad position and I was considering turning down if I get an offer to focus on my business... Your video gave me a new perspective that maybe I should take it and organize myself to handle it all!! Thanks again and I'm waiting for the "no burnout" video!! :))
You focused on micro-optimizations in this video but I seriously doubt that those are the main reasons for your productivity. I am only guessing but I think the main motivations you have are users actually using your product, non-zero revenue, non-zero viewers on TH-cam and fear of being fired. I have tried to start businesses in the past and the smallest distraction distracts me because those things I mentioned are not in place.
Adeola Ogunleye See, that’s one of the things that I love about Clement’s videos. They’re super on point, comprehensive and accurate yet without the use of unnecessary details that don’t matter. So, in my opinion, rewatching is just pointless, especially when you can go to algoexpert.io/Clem for 20% off and practice some algorithms
Dude, I remember seeing you on other youtubers' channels and thought you were kind of annoying. One of your videos autoplayed and I remember thinking, "Holy crap! The annoying dude says useful stuff!" I've been a subscriber ever since!
Great video! You say that time cant be bought, but I think that another limiting factor is brain power (or concentration), there is no chance to study more than 5 or 6 hours a day constantly without burning out. How can you devote so long of the day to thinking tasks? Also, not sure how do you manage to sleep only 4 hours, I sleep 9.
Hi Clement, I am a absolute beginner with data structures and algorithms. I do know JS and React to a level where I can create a small app but I want to be serious and have a good job. Is Algoexport for me? Its your business i am sure you will say yes but like isit for people that are beginner or someone with much more knowledge ? kind regards
As I tell everybody who asks this question, if you know the fundamentals of programming (loops, conditional statements, basic array \ string manipulation, etc.), you can definitely use AlgoExpert. You really don't need much more to start working on problems, and you'll pick up the rest through the video explanations.

TIME IS MY MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE 🤓
I'm trying to do the same, it's not easy, but it never is with anything in life!
What do you use for energy? Do you drink redbull at a daily basis?
How to watch Clement’s video:

Literally chuckling to myself in the middle of the subway while reading this 😂😂
Clément Mihailescu lmao
4th Re-watch
5th Think about it
6th Rewatch and take note.
@@harispapadopoulos4295 I will check algo expert out just for self improvements. I am satisfied with my ML Engineering job and not changing jobs soon.
Watching this video WHILE having lunch, thanks for the pro tip. xD
Does Google/Facebook allow you to have a side business while you are employed there? I thought the contract forbade it
Your last videos are very entertaining
Dude, I remember seeing you on other youtubers' channels and thought you were kind of annoying. One of your videos autoplayed and I remember thinking, "Holy crap! The annoying dude says useful stuff!" I've been a subscriber ever since!
Great video! You say that time cant be bought, but I think that another limiting factor is brain power (or concentration), there is no chance to study more than 5 or 6 hours a day constantly without burning out. How can you devote so long of the day to thinking tasks? Also, not sure how do you manage to sleep only 4 hours, I sleep 9.
“Smartly” this pronunciation 😂😂 I was expecting an ad after this like an app or so. 😂😂 (like Blinklist)
😂There's something about "smartly" that just sounds weird!
Use your time wisely.
