@@creativeclectic since I bought my cables prices have increased a lot… and yes, good cables can make real sense, sometimes more than buying a different component (oftentimes more expensive). But it all has to be in the context of the Hifi chain and very important: the synergy altogether!

Shows great design and engineering doesn't have to super huge or super complex like some American Speakers just how sweet and believable are these! The look wonderful too
John Gian I totally agree you are quite correct but may I say that myself my son and his partner are all professional musicians all classically trained having that in mind one still finds the harbeths the most realistic speakers one has ever owned . One also has the pleasure in owing a beautiful pair of tannoy Westminster Royale gr also wonderful speakers but in my humble opinion and only mine as everyone has their own the harbeths make instruments sing with life .
@John Gian It's all subjective. To try and convince another that one speaker is better than the other is futile. It depends on your listening preference, the system partnering, etc (just far too many factors). For me total sound reproduction of the main source you just can not beat the Harbeths. There's a reason why they were commissioned by the BBC and tested thoroughly by having an orchestra in one room then sound engineers move to the monitor booth and differenriate which was which.
They sound alive, the guitar at the beginning is shimmering and lovely crisp treble sound Like you can hear that tube sound on TH-cam. I modified my FR drivers (ran with woofers) and I glued a tiny cane post to the concave dust cap (of the driver) and glued an equally tiny piece of tin foil on top of the short post. Fiddly work but the treble is so good that I reckon it sounds "better" than tweeters. But maybe not better than the tweeters in this demo cos the treble is insane with this demo on my speakers.

The dynamic range, the organ and low end reproduction sounds phenomenal.. Midrange as well.. I find it a bit sibilant and bright though with my limited knowledge... (might be from mic recording? )
John Gian ... ATC sounds different. It’s a great speaker. I had a good session with the 20, very very nice but it’s not what I go for. Different people just have different preference. That’s all. 😬
Just had an extended session with the ATC SCM 19 MKii yesterday. Great mids and highs, but hardly any bass at all for such a large monitor. My Special 40 beats it for highs, matches it for mids, and destroys it for bass.
Bruce Carter ... the S40 is refined. It’s a great speaker. Lovely finish too. But ain’t the ATC fast and hard hitting? I’ve only listened to the SCM20.
