In October 2021, Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on charges of drug possession. The arrest sparked a huge controversy, with many people believing that Khan was targeted because of his father's fame.
The NCB claimed that they had received a tip-off that a rave party was being held on a cruise ship, the Cordelia, and that drugs were being consumed. They raided the ship and arrested Khan and several others.
Khan was released on bail after spending 22 days in jail. The case is still ongoing, and it is unclear whether he will be convicted.
In recent months, there have been allegations of corruption against Sameer Wankhede, the NCB officer who led the raid on the Cordelia. Wankhede has denied the allegations, but he has been transferred to a different post.
The Cordelia cruise drug case has raised many questions about the NCB's methods and its role in targeting celebrities. It remains to be seen how the case will unfold, but it is clear that it has had a significant impact on Indian society.
