@23:01 About designing for FDM or resin:
I've made a handful of minis, and there I design with a tiny little cube in the scene that is 0.2mm large. If a detail is bigger than that, it'll be easy to drybrush highlight, and it'll catch washes and contrast style paints very well.
For FDM (I've designed a piece of terrain for some 40K minis to stand in), I used 0.5mm for a similar "cube of detail". Test printed that thing with a 0.4mm nozzle and nothing was lost, I even had a keyboard on the wall with all the keys still very much distinct.

I've printed many buildings at 28-32mm scale. Air brushing is great. A wet dry brush works for roof tiles. Also for plaster walls a big stippling brush.

Kingdom Death reminds me of the movie "The Cell" where everything in it is from the imagination of a Serial Killer. 'This is like a dragon, but all of his scales are baby dolls with no eyes, and he has a tail of a duck-billed platypus.'

Wing dings… One of my high school teachers, a Chinese computer teacher infamously had the best line ever. People kept using Wing Dings and handing in work, just because they knew it pushed him off. He got so mad one class that he shouted ver the whole class, “You use Wing Ding, I CHOP YOUR HEAD OFF!”
It spread throughout the school and went down as legend people talked about years later.

FDM is good for big terrain pieces.
use a can of spray automotive putty and primer and do multiple light coats and 90% of layer lines will be gone.

Badger paints has a 3d primer. It's a 2 part the first is a translucent coat to fill in the lines and then the color primer. Comes in a wide variety by now. I bought it when it first came out and got an amazing deal I'll have primer (both parts) for years to come.

First of all, ren-faires are amazing! Been going to our local one for over 20 years now.
For stripping paint or primer, try Castrol Super Clean, or it's generic equivalent Purple Power.
I have been using it to strip models for 15 years now.
Just put some in a container and soak the parts for a day or so with a lid on it to keep it from evaporating.

@32:20 I don't if it will work on lacquer primer, but the AK stripper works really well with bad priming. It is SUPER messy, but worth a shot.

I've had 3 FDM Printers, (Ender 3, Artillery X4, Elegoo Neptune) all three of them were decent out of the box (best was the Neptune). But after about 40 hrs of print time, each gave me nothing but issues. Could never get the beds to level, I would get inconsistent prints, failures, etc. and I am sure some of that was due to user error or inexperience, but I don't want to spend my limited free/hobby time troubleshooting a damned printer.
I bought a Bambu P1S (with the enclosure) and let me tell you, after 100 print hours, I have had zero and I mean ZERO issues. This thing just works. It's as set and forget as my resin printers, but for FDM. The future is now old man.
I know people have concerns about the software/app, etc from Bambu and I certainly think that's valid if it was going to be used for prototyping or R&D for an intellectual property. But for me I really don't give a shit if they collect the data on how many FDM terrain pieces I've printed this month. 6, the answer is 6. That one's for free.

Hearing about the WOW model issues is fucking boiling my blood. I work in 3d animation AND paint minis, so it's super clear that yall were just talking about two totally different things but using the unfortunately extremely similar jargon to do it. I'm so glad you got that project out the door, but really wish I happened to be in the room to bridge that gap with two of my niche skillsets.

Isopropyl alcohol bath of the model should clear away the lacquer and leave the plastic unscathed. Scrub with a toothbrush after about 5 minutes (longer, depending on how long the paint has bonded to the plastic)

LA's totally awesome will take off any paint you put on ever. I use it with a heated sonic cleaner to refurbish even Ebay finds that are caked 1/8th inch thick in truck primer. It will take off anything. Also it's a dollar at your local dollar store. Its perfectly safe for use on any plastic, metal or finecast. It eats 3d printed resins though.
If you have any other questions let me know.

    Concerning the Xal'atath bust:
First off: I love it! And WoW finally seems to have a worthy "big bad" again which is also great. I remember very clearly when Blizzard released the mobile game rumble, that they release 20+ minis to download and 3d print for free. And those where minis in a good quality and scale for that. The right hand of the company did not know what the left already did (even in the same IP) ^^
(Xal'atath was obviously not one of the minis for rumble)

    @Wijkert 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Usually when I am stripping lacquer bases paint, the mini is made from metal, so acetone is an option. Not that acetone is that great at stripping lacquer paint, but it at least does something while any kind of alcohol or strong degreaser does next to nothing. What does work for both metal and plastic is Dettol (the regular brown kind that's used to clean out wounds). It's nicer for metal mini's, because it gets gummy on you. If you're patient you can clean the mini, but it's not ideal. Hopefully someone else has a better alternative; maybe also something that is more easily available in the US.

I love my fdm printer but it only took a week before I went and bought a resin printer , fdm is great for terrain,I have printed 28mm figures on fdm printer and printed bigger stuff in pla and sanded the lines , prints made from petg can be smoothed when put on a grate in a container with acetone under the grating , think it smoothes in about 20mins ive not yet tried the method myself but know its a method others have used . Fdm printer is for things that astetics are not as important. I make my miniatures and things that needs a smooth finish on my resin printer
