- From July 5, 1976, here is part 1 of 3 of the ABC Evening News with Harry Reasoner. I thought it might be cool to see what was going on during America's Bicentennial. Included is some footage of Jimmy Carter on the campaign trail to the Presidency. This does include all original commercials!!

Fair play to the captain of the plane ,He was getting released but refused to on the grounds the passengers were his responsible ,I was only 10 at the time and couldn't understand how a small army travelled 2.500 miles ,I remember the radio saying there'll be movies about this and that's what I though itwas ,some movie It was only when I got older did i realise it was the greatest rescue ever carried out.

They made a good movie on the raid at Entebbee It was a daring rescue and Israel only lost one man.

I clicked on this video just for curiosity's sake, to see the ABC news as it was almost 40 years ago and I was just a little kid. How depressing that the lead story was about Israel fighting Palestinians, and here we are in 2014 and nothing has changed.
that's what you gleaned from this? Not that Arabs still want to kill us for nothing more than being Jewish?? I think you should watch some other videos on the Entebbe raid to find out a lot more on this subject.
I looked up this video purely for nostalgia, not as research for any middle eastern conflicts. If the clip happened to have been from later in the show it might have been about the Bicentennial, or Amy Carter's cat, something humorous like that. I also could have easily said "Palestinians fighting Israelis" rather than the other way around. I have allegiance to neither side but I still felt compelled to comment on how distressing it is that very little seems to improved or changed, fundamentally, in 40 years. I wish for peace, but I leave the deeper discussions and assignment of blame to the diplomats and historians.
