I went cold turkey about 7 months ago and I highly recommend no one does it that way. The brain zaps were awful. It took me at least a month to start feeling normal again, hang in there Tracey, it will pass. So my anxiety has been high most of my adult life but I started taking 600 mg of Magnesium Glycinate and 10,000 iu of Vitamin D3 and it has been life changing in regulating my nervous system. Good job lady you got this!
Thanks for sharing! Cold turkey? You’re super human! The brain zaps are so weird and sometimes they are just continuous. Yes, take both of those supplements already. Magnesium is such a great supplement and helps with so many things! Thanks for sharing with me. It helps! 💜
Aropax, that's one that is hard to come off ,most doctors will tell you to keep taking it ,but it makes the mind numb in a way ,you know what I mean ,but I'm not sure they make life Happy! Since my stroke 9 years ago ,I've been on the 10mil escalator pill (I call them that)and I think they work . But again you must come off them very slowly. In your situation, you have so much going on,and one night question what's good and what's bad . Imagine removing the layers of medication to get back to a base line of what you really need, menopause is probably the biggest factor at present. In this information world we're in ,there is much discussion around Drugs and do we need them . I take my share of pills each day ,all prevention to not t having another stroke , stopping P cancer coming back and type 2 diabetes, what does one do ,stop the pills and live on a risk ? Traditional medicines ? Be spaced out and happy on the magicmoana ? You talking about dreams, mine are precise and I remember them clearly, but they are certainly different from, maybe the pills do things to the mind ,the brain itself is trying to rebuild ,that's a long process. But the best advice is ,Chill out,be happy, look after The You ,deflect rubbish ,crap and other people's drama ,it's actually a requirement in my case ,I've been through shyte but that was then ,it's all about now ,it's about Me , selfish, too right,my survival. Take care
I didn't go off my SSRI, but I switched to one that is easier to stop when I do want to go off of it. Some are definitely worse to wean off than others.
Very impressed with your journey considering all of the obstacles you've had to endure and now finding out about weaning yourself off of the anti-anxiety meds...kudos to you! 💪 Way to go, T!! 💪
Gooood mornin tracey, hope you get to feeling better, never fun to feel biah! Thank you for the bike review, tell kieth i said happy birthday and many more!! Have a great day tracey!
I'm right there with you! SSRI's and peri menopause (mine just started) It's no joke! The weight gain is real and it's a struggle physically and mentally. I know not everyone knows this unless you are going through it, as a female later in life. Anxiety is part of this, peri menopause has spiked my anxiety, my doctor says it is common. Plus you are trying to get off lexapro. The perfect storm.I remember the brain zaps too. You are ok, just know it's all part of the process, beautiful girl. It's tough isn't it? You aren't alone. I am enjoying insomnia as well, ah the joys of menopause. You should start feeling better soon, as long as you weaned slowly. Love to Joy as well. p.s. You still look amazing
I think that women and men these days can understand things like menopause much more easily, because the information available to everyone is there ,and the interaction with women going through it ,are now recorded and shared to a big audience. I suppose it was the taboo subject that never got discussed, now is a much more open topic and experienced people can add their input.
Synthetic medications always have bad side effects, and the doctors don't tell you about it and downplay the adverse side effects. Better off using natural supplements, and even bioidentical hormones if you are going through perimenopause/menopause. Recently discovered Ashwagandha, and boy definitely makes you less anxious and able to focus, without increasing appetitie. Just don't over use it as it could cause emotional blunting. Also was on bioidentical hormones when I first went through menopause at 46, and WOW what a game changer. It took away all my symptoms of poor sleep, brain fog, depressive symptoms, weight gain, poor libido, and dry hair and skin. Within 3 days, I felt 25, it was amazing. Now that I'm in my 60's I just use supplements and cbd for sleep and feel good.
I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling with the withdrawal. I had major shoulder surgery ( 3 screws holding my shoulder together) and after ten days they totally cut off all pain medication, I had no idea I wasn't going to be able to get more pain meds. Boy was I ever surprised! NOT fun. Before I forget, Happy Birthday to Keith, I hope it's his best and happiest birthday ever.
Appreciate your honesty about the withdrawal from Sri’s. I got off about 12 years ago it was the worst withdrawal of any addictive drug I have took. The side effects for some can be dangerous! I weaned down splitting the capsules into thirds at the end before quitting, I lost my health insurance so I weaned my self off these dangerous drugs. Dr should have told me about the horrible withdrawal. When I got my last script I told the pharmacist of the difficult withdrawal and she said I know because she had quit and had similar symptoms. It is all over the internet the withdrawal horror stories. It took me two months to feel somewhat normal, the first two weeks I suffered dizziness, nausea, and headaches. I slept practically all day for the first two weeks. You are not alone in your struggle, give yourself time to get through this. Be careful in making rash decisions during this period. I have been on this journey I will never take these drugs again!!!! Bless you, you are a strong woman and you will get over this .
Lexapro was bad for me, AND esitalopram is clumsy to pronounce. Getting off it was tough, even though, like you I was on a very mow dose. I had to consciously avoid being overcome by the symptoms I was taking it for. As I recall it took a few weeks. I’ve had better luck with Wellbutrin.
Thanks for sharing! It makes me feel better knowing others have gotten through it. I’m getting better every day and hopefully on the other side of the vertigo which was the worst. So happy you found something that works better for you ❤️
I believe you can adjust the speed settings on the control devise of electric bikes. It's kind of nice though to have the power to get out of the way of crazy cars. When it comes to "meds" I hate them. Reminds me of the military and thier cold bag. Plus I took a bunch of meds for 12 1/2 years before I started weening my self off. Mother's little helpers in the 60's and 70's pretty much ruined my siblings and my childhood.
Hi Tracey. You are so pretty. Your blue eyes remind me of the purée marbles I played with as a child. They were always the most precious! Thanks for your sharing with us. Xo

I've been having problems getting doctor appointments scheduled to, so good luck with you & Joy getting scheduled. I don't know why it's like THAT?!?!?!
Tracey it's my experience coming off SSRI medication usually 2 to 3 weeks. You'll be okay in about 5 more days I'm thinking according to what you've said on the timeframe off lexapro. And happy birthday to Keith...Safe travels wherever life's adventures takes you...✌❤😊
I had constant panic attacks, not fun. Ended up doing tai chi to be able to control them. The breathing discipline allows you focus on your breathing and if you are breath measured deep breaths the physiological systems of the attack go away.
I’ll pray for you not to struggle withdrawing your meds Tracey 😊. The lemon & cucumber juice looks super delicious! I 🩵cucumber. What’s the name of the juice stand? I’d love to stop by on my way down to FL on my next trip. Happy Born Day Keith!!! Cheers from SC 🥰
How long were you on it and why are you stopping? You don’t need it anymore for sure? How can you prevent anxiety attacks then? We’d all like to be med free but it’s not always possible
I woke up one morning and threw out all the meds. Klonopin and multiple depression meds. I was just done. My brain cleared up and I could think again. After a little over a year off and I’m more myself than I have been in years. I still deal with those issues but my brain actually works again and it feels good. Did recently need to take buspar but I took it for less than a month just long enough to get things in order. The anxiety sometimes causes weird symptoms and it did help to get things right. It was a very low dose and worked within a few weeks. Getting enough protein really helps.
Someone below commented about your vertigo and mentioned heart blockage. It caught my eye, because as I was watching you towards the end of the video for some reason, I kept thinking your lips looked a little more blue than I remember, and I was a little concerned so when I saw that other post, I thought I should mention it as well. Hopefully you just had something to eat.
Hang in there - I had a similar response when I went off anti stuff about twenty years ago and it was so hard. I completely empathize with you. What helped me the most was a shot of methyl B12 and now I supplement religiously with methyl B vits for the past twenty years and never had another round of depression since. 💛✨💫. Hang in there and thanks for sharing your experience. 🎉
Did the Monkey have your cap for your dump hose ? LOL I hope you feel better soon. I have been on depression meds since I was 17 and I will be 65 this month. Love you Tracey we are all praying for you.

Hello 👋🏽 Tracey , while watching 👀 your video 📹 had to see what dosage I am taking . I am taking 20mg of Lexapro for depression and anxiety. I have stopped medication from 1 or more months and didn't notice any side effects
I was on it 10 years after the death of my son. I would eat a melatonin gummy when my anxiety was overwhelming. It seemed to calm me not make me sleepy as it should. It was hard and I felt as times I would want to jump out of my skin. I was lucky I did not gain weight on it but I did after I got off. I found myself anxiety eating. Its hard for sure and I pray it lets up soon.
Brain zaps are the absolute worst! I went cold turkey 7 years ago, I still have brain zaps occasionally 😯 I'm tempted sometimes to take anti anxiety medication again from time to time because I still suffer but getting off of the drug is not worth it. I did ptsd therapy instead and it helps.
Tracy, if you're really worried about weight gain, do No Sugar, No Carb lifestyle. Also, with vertigo, be careful, My doctor thought I had vertigo, and it was my heart, blockage!! Love you take care🥰
I dont take Lexapro but i wnet cold turkey on Celexa, WHEW! Did my brain go into MOOD CENTRAL as in moody not nice lol 😆 i had ti reatart till i can figure something out
If you don't have a family history of, and are low risk for, heart disease, stroke and breast cancer, strongly consider staying on bioidentical HRT for as long as you can, as it is one of the best and most natural ways to prevent bone loss/osteoporosis.
I have been through it. It is extremely difficult. I noticed for me that my body cycled through in a pattern that once I recognized the pattern it made it psychologically better. Symptoms got bad day 3 yo around 2 weeks as it peaked then eased off. I went in a 3 to 4 week cycling of cutting back. I couldn't do faster bc I would have died. No joke. They are black box meds that most no longer prescribe. At the end, my dr put me on Effexor which took 2 weeks to kick in fully but I was able to stop the other. Paying attention to symptoms to know it's normal. I would NEVER go on it again. Mine was Clonazepam. Just remember that your body can still cycle random symptoms many months later. Huge kudos to you through it. Just about anything else is better at weaning off. Getting off too fast can cause seizures and death. You are doing grea with it. Hang in there ☺️👍🙏♥️
Thanks for sharing! It helps me to hear other people’s experience. I agree, they shouldn’t prescribe it know how hard it is to get off it! Or, at least they could do is tell people and give them the option to take something else. Yes, I figure since it is so strong that to get my brain back to normal firing it’s going to take quite a while. Kind of scary. Thanks, again! 💜
No, I had anxiety long before van life. Actually, van life has helped me overcome my anxiety tremendously, that’s how I feel strong enough to stop. Go for it!
So you've switched from cold turkey to being a weaner. Though a few people would disagree, I think the last time I was a weaner was kicking caffeine in 1993 after a combination of caffeine and a stressful divorce caused scary episodes of tachycardia. Going cold turkey gave me the first headaches of my life. The doctor asked how it was going, and I said "Not bad, I've completely stopped having Diet Coke, but my head does hurt a lot of the time. It's kind of annoying." "Oh, you're having headaches?" "No, it's just that my head hurts." "I'm going to diagnose that as a headache. Try having some, then weaning yourself off it. Start with maybe half of what you used to drink, then if that works, keep reducing it down from there anytime you haven't had a headache for a while." It took me 4-6 months to get to no caffeine and no headaches. You probably don't want to be that long and slow a weaner, but you never know how things will go. Cue Doris Day singing Que Sera, Sera.
Thanks! For the Lexapro, I already got through the 6 week period to wean that she gave me which I don’t think is long enough. I just followed what she gave me. I wouldn’t have minded it longer but now that it’s been a whole week I’ve been off it, I’m going to rough it out and get through it. Yeah, caffeine a tough one! I’ve tried to quit before and got headaches right away.
I want off the lexapro so badly. I take 300mg a day (4 - 75/day) and haven’t been on less than 125 in over 15 or 20 years. I call them brain zingers and they are miserable. Since I turned 50 the weight gain is uncontrollable. I’ll be 55 in December. I think I’ll start tapering. Maybe I can be done by my birthday. If I can handle it. 😊. *edit, just started fighting vertigo. Now I’m on meclizine. 🙄
Did you watch? I said I weaned off per her protocol she sent me. I tapered off for 6-7 weeks and followed it to a T. I was done with the protocol at the beginning of this week and still having these issues.
@@AdvanturesOver50 my apologies I wasn’t referring to you but your audience. I thought I had added I agree. Sorry you thought I was talking about your situation. When you said “check with your doctor I don’t give medical advice “ I was echoing what you said but as a nurse giving advice. Sorry again
You can tell my brain isn’t work right because I didn’t even realize it until after I was uploading the video what I said 🤣🤣🤣 pretty soon I’ll start seeing flying monkeys! 🙉 My older years has a money theme now 🤷♀️😳

Start with maybe half of what you used to drink, then if that works, keep reducing it down from there anytime you haven't had a headache for a while."
It took me 4-6 months to get to no caffeine and no headaches.
As a nurse you NEVER come off an antidepressant/anxiety cold turkey. It’s not safe. Speak to your doctor about coming off
Did you watch? I said I weaned off per her protocol she sent me. I tapered off for 6-7 weeks and followed it to a T. I was done with the protocol at the beginning of this week and still having these issues.
@@AdvanturesOver50 my apologies I wasn’t referring to you but your audience. I thought I had added I agree. Sorry you thought I was talking about your situation. When you said “check with your doctor I don’t give medical advice “ I was echoing what you said but as a nurse giving advice. Sorry again
Caffeine is not your friend….not good for hot flashes, anxiety…..
