  • Today's Day in the Life includes everything we did for our recent "Fun Friday" which happens weekly in our home. This involves a fun breakfast or lunch, some fun activities alongside our normal homeschool lessons, time together, a fairy tale, and a pallet in the living room to sleep on (for the bigger kids ages 5+).

Your family is so sweet and I am amazed at how much you do. I love that you all have Bible time together, I hope to do that with my daughter when she gets a little older (she's 3 months now). - Kari

I enjoyed seeing that the boys in are in the room soaking up what you are sharing with them. That is what they will remember from their mama and that special time. Keep it up. My oldest is now 14 and my youngest is 4 and the older ones still talk about those things with myself and their younger siblings. They pull out things that are important to each of them and share them with their younger siblings. I want to encourage you to rest in the beauty that you are giving your children. It is so hard at times (or at least it was and is for me) to know the day after day choices really matter. They matter so much that we sometimes choose not to do them because of different reasons.... I loved seeing in your home how important it is. I am thankful for you and your journey that you share. Loved the ideas for meals. I have been struggling in this area. Our lunch time is not working well. Its in the middle of our school time and I have different things that are pulling me in different directions. The more simple lunch is the better. We have been doing a lot of soups and sandwiches on sourdough lately...

I understand- I feel like I’m running in different directions all day! It’s a lot to manage and there are many hard days. I’m so thankful that I have so much to do every day and that everything I’m doing really matters, like you said. What an important calling from the Lord we have as mothers, right?! He is good and faithful.
I like the idea of keeping lunches very simple. I’m hoping to get my kids to eat more soup. It’s a tough sell in Florida, even in the winter. 😂

Love this video as a mom who wants to one day have 7 kids and homeschool! Also loved that shot of your bookshelf at 6 minutes. I have the same ESV study Bible… and did I see a Vampire Weekend album on the top bookshelf? Used to be a big fan of them myself!

Yes!! The ESV Study Bible and the Reformation Study Bible are my go-tos. 😉 And you correctly identified the Vampire Weekend vinyl. 😂 My husband and I used to really enjoy them. Good eye! A book shelf says a lot about a person. 😁

Who is the redeemer 👏👏 , who's the redeemer 👏👏, we will, we will rock you👏👏!!!!!
Fun, different Fridays, well done. Aren't the tales of H.C. Andersen too depressing? Anyway, I prefer real literature, at any age, to Christian stories and passages, that are a little gore.

Maybe you said it already and I missed it, what is it your reading to your children for Bible time ? After y’all read scripture you were reading from something else .

Yes! After we read scripture, we read a question or 2 from our catechism- questions and answers that teach important doctrines to our children, which are supported by scripture. (Scripture is our authority.) This day I was reading from “An Orthodox Catechism” which is a Baptist version of the famous Heidelberg Catechism. We also use The Baptist Catechism.
There are less specific catechisms like the New City Catechism that a lot of people like. Hope this helps!
