I am still in search of the MSC cover post but if need be I can make one of those. I think with the new body and wing it will really come alive and show of just how sweet this is. Yes they are! I am super happy to have this in the collection and was extremely surprised to receive it at such a great price! Keith really knows how to find a bargain on Buyee! I have looked around there but nothing serious.
Yeah these don't present themselves in this good of shape very often and I just got lucky with the timing of it all! It was a great deal even after the shipping from Japan and then the shipping from Keith to me! Now I am just waiting for the parts to arrive which will take a week or so. That is good as I have all the other stuff to focus on until then! Take care Brent!
I was very surprised to see just how nice it was, like it had never been run at all. Which that just makes me wonder so much more about what happened to the wing! I guess it could have popped off at some point and gotten lost or damaged but it is odd to have a pristine buggy and it be missing body work! Just another part of its story! I will get it back on the channel once I can get it all wrapped up! Take care Jeremy!!!
Great car Addam and very good explanation of all the details. Hoping the radio needs only an easy fix. Otherwise it might putting some thrill into every run.
Thanks Dirk! It ended up I had some stuff but was also missing a lot of stuff to get it done. Parts are ordered and stuff is on its way so hopefully in a few weeks it will be back all wrapped up and looking fantastic! I will have to really test that radio system before i will put it into any car, I have zero trust in it at the moment! Take care!
It is in amazing shape, I was very surprised to see how good of condition it is in. Makes me curious what happened to the wing though... I have gotten stuff on order but it will be a while until it gets here but this one will be back as soon as possible! It looks super cool and I am very grateful for Kith and Erick for both hooking me up with great deals on this and the Saint Dragon. all of which stemmed from Keith's video. funny how thing just work out occasionally! Take care Craig and I will probably message you a bit later today!
Yeah, they are few and far between and rarely in this good of shape! Parts and stuff are on order and I should have everything in a couple weeks! Once I get it wrapped.it will be back and might make a run around the yard with the Saint Dragon!!
Very awesome man!!!! I never was into buggies back then but I'm starting to like them in my older years.... Let me check a few of my boxes..... Awesome video man!!!!
It all came full circle and it all worked out perfectly for me! I had left a comment on Keith's video of the Madcap and Saint Dragon and Erick from EEK RC saw it and reached out to me about the Saint Dragon he was looking to sell. Then after I released the Saint Dragon video Keith reached out to me and said he had just scored a terrific deal on the Madcap and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it for what he paid for it and of course it was a great deal so I could not pass it up! Everything worked out great and I cold not be happier! Now I am just waiting for all the stuff to show up over the next few weeks for it and get it all wrapped up and beautiful! It will be back once I can get finished with it! Take care Nanni!
“Painted with a 2” house brush without a care.” well said. And definitely not the energy I bring to most things in life. 😅 Party on, Addam. Thanks for sharing with us.
Whoever painted this thing did not have much patience with a paint brush for sure. I have a new body and wing along with new decals coming so it will be all fresh and new looking next time it shows up! Thanks as always for the support and stopping by to say hi!!
Great find . Quite interesting wondering what the history of these vintages are and hopefully the joy they brought to previous owners . In good hands now 😊👍👍👍
Yeah I often wonder who had this and why sell it?? The biggest thing I questioned is what in the world happened to the wing. The buggy and the body are just the way it was put together decades ago, so where did the wing go?!?! I assume it got lost somehow over the years, moving maybe?? I don't think it got broken as the mount piece was missing that would have stayed attached to the wing... who know but that had me very curious! I have the new body and decals on the way and the MSC is being sent out soon too so I should have pretty much everything needed fairly soon. I think it is going to look fabulous with the fresh new body and wing on there! Take care Dom!
@@rc-dom-uk I thought cracked at first but since the mount piece is missing I am thinking it got lost. Possibly broken and taken off and then lost.. it will remain a mystery!
I like that - mostly original Madcap. We are very fortunate to have the digital resources easily accessible. Awesome that Keith reached out and y’all were able to strike a deal. Coooool RC Addam. Just make sure you ordered the right parts. I saw Nanni recently ordered a slightly too small ESC. 😊 But seriously - double check. 😆👍🏼👋🏼
Thank Trey! It is awesome in just a few clicks I can get a manual or part numbers for old kits like these. It was a very cool series of events that lead this ending up my hands! I am thankful to all involved and very happy to be able to share it with everyone. I have parts on order and parts being sent to try and get it all back to 100% so in a couple weeks I hope to have it all wrapped up! It should looks really good with a crisp new body and decals on that clean chassis!! I saw Nanni's accidental ESC... I think he needs a mini kit or a grasshopper to go with it now, seems like a good excuse to get one! Take care bud and have a great rest of your week!
Thanks! I am very happy with it! It fought me a little but I have gotten parts on order to get it all fixed up and looking great. It is going to take a couple weeks to get it all and get it wrapped up but it will be back for sure. I am sure it will get a light run around in the grass along with the saint dragon!
Thanks Will! I have the body and decals on their way and there is a new MSC in the works as well! I just got in a pile of the servo savers yesterday so that won't be a problem for a while! I think it is going to be super cool once it is all done up and the fresh new body is on there! It'll be a couple weeks before everything is here and installed but as soon as it is this will be back! Take care!
I missed this vid....well hear l am now! Nice one Addam l love the Madcap its a special one now and can't see tamiya doing a rere on it any time soon! Great to have in your collection buddy.
No worries James, I am constantly behind on watching all the videos!! LOL! I am super happy to have been able to add this to the collection, Keith really did me a solid for passing it along to me for what he had into it! Parts and pieces are on their way so in a couple weeks I should have everything for it and can get it wrapped up! I think you are right that this one will not get re-released anytime soon.
@@AddamsPlayground Yeah we are not short of vids, posts etc in this hobby! That Madcap will look awesome when done Addam its definitely a tamiya that's really grown on me over the last few years!
G'day Addam😁 We were totally wrong with our guessing 🥴 but it was fun waiting for the unveiling mate👍. Wow that's a beautiful addition to your fleet👌. I don't recall ever seeing an original Madcap! Was surprised to see it. Congrats on such a great purchase mate. Remember RC'ing shouldn't have any deadlines, have fun and do it when you get to it hehe😁. Thanks for showing the new rc and the info mate, hope you're doing well👍🦘🇦🇺
Thanks! Glad it was a bit of a surprise for you! I was super happy when it was offered up for sale and could not pass up the deal! I have been just going with the flow lately and things are working out well so I am going to continue to cruise along and go at whatever pace things are going in and not trying to force anything. It is making me much happier and I am more apt to go down and tinker when I am enjoying everything! Thanks! I love the way it looks as well! I have the new body, decals and parts on the way so hopefully in the next couple weeks all that will show up and I can get it back in tip-top shape As soon as I do it will be back on here!
Nice Madcap! If I don't want to scratch something up I take in on short grass. Resto's can take a long time getting parts or finding solutions but you got it in the stable now and it looks cool as!
Thanks! Yeah it will probably get a jaunt around in the grass along with the Saint Dragon at the same time. I found the MSC, the body and decals, I just need to source the little z0bend rod to connect the servo to the MSC. I am sure I can either make one out of some piano wire if I cannot find one. Once everything is here and it is wrapped up it will be back!
It was a cool chain of events that lead up to this and it ads to the cool factor for me! I have stuff ordered and on its way so hopefully in a couple weeks I will have everything and it will be all wrapped up and looking great! Take care Mark!
It is one that I was not expecting to run into but it all worked out and I am excited to have it! I have some work to do but not a lot, just waiting for parts to arrive.
I'm dong a madcap too. Gunna be a long build.. Thats so awesome. Great vid.. Thanks. for sharing bud.👍. Murphy was there again wasn't he.. best to get it right if its that nice..
Thanks! It was a great car to add to the collection! I did run into all kinds of snags but it'll get sorted out soon enough. Things are just going to take some time to get here and once I have everything I will sit back down with it and get it wrapped up. It happens! The funny thing is I can see where the servo for the MSC was installed previously but there is not indication of the MSC actually being installed ever. who knows but I am happy to have it and eager to see it all done up! Take care and good luck with yours as well!
@@AddamsPlayground Looking forward to next vid brother. Mines gunna be a runner so we will see how well she holds up. Thanks for the good vids Addam. Appreciate ya..

Awsome little buggy, i do keep thinking about getting one as they look cool, but sadly its down on my list of cars i need lol. Big thumbs up to rcicons for passing it on. Oh and thats a propper 80’s paint job 😎
It is a great looking buggy, they are just not easy to come by in decent shape and parts are through the roof for them. Keith really did hook me up by passing along the great deal on this one and I am extremely thankful! He could have easily stuck it on eBay and gotten triple for what he paid for it! It will be a cherished part of my collection. Parts and pieces are on their way so in a couple weeks I should have everything for it! The paint job is something else, someone had little patience with that paint brush with this one for sure! LOL! Take care Richard!
@@AddamsPlayground haha i never have patiance painting. Slap it on, job done 👍😂 i think Keith is the type of guy who would rather pass on or give away then make money ? A true gent and i think the most impresive collection ive ever seen, makes my 20 odd cars look fine 😂

Thanks I appreciate it! So far I just need the little z-bend rod that runs from the servo to the MSC. I found an MSC for it and the body and decals are ordered. I don't have the plastic mount for the MSC cover or the lexan cover but I am honestly not too concerned about that. I will probably get it out for a run in the grass but seeing this one is so scratch from that may be the extent of the running so hopefully I don't need any replacement parts! LOL! Thanks again and take care Erick!
Thanks! It was a great surprise to be able to get this especially for the very nice price! I will get it wrapped up and back as soon as I can. I am just going to be waiting for parts and stuff for a week or two.
That's awesome 🤩 I will get my hands on one again at some point 🤞 I might run it once for nostalgic reasons but it would be just as enjoyable to look at it tbh... I took my Bush Devil for a little run after a bit of tlc but the mechanical speed controller sticks a bit so either I will get some modern gear in or just retire it to the shelf... Not risking a runaway with 30+ year old plastics 😊 thanks for the video 👍
Thanks Steve! Exactly, not wanting to risk a runaway! I will most likely get it out in the grass for a run around just to say I have driven one! More than likely I will take the Saint dragon out along side it when I do. It'll be a while as it will take bit for everything to get here and I still need to find the rod for the MSC but once everything is done it will be back!
Thanks brother! I have things on the way to get it wrapped up and once they are here and it is done this will be back! I think it is going to look terrific all new a fresh!
Hi there Addam, a nice update video and a shame that the Madcap needs some more parts. It’s ‘Sods law’ that when you need a specific common part, you never seem to have one or find the part, I’ve spent many hours searching through my part boxes, knowing I had a spare component, but too 30 minute to find it 🙇🏻♂️👀. Best wishes to yo7 and the family😊
Yeah the servo saver kind of blew my mind, I thought I had some. I just got my order in today of another half dozen so I should be good for a few days! LOL! It is a really nice buggy and it is in terrific shape, it just needs a few things. I am so very confused on how the buggy is in such great shape and never looks run but is missing the wing... where did it go?? LOL! I have stuff ordered and coming in for it so in a few weeks all that should be here and I can get it wrapped up and back on here! Take care my friend! How are you doing, still feeling better and able to do more all the time I hope!
@@AddamsPlayground hi there Addam, I’m getting more and more movement, day by day. Thank you for asking my friend. It’s the amount of muscle and tendons that have been disturbed to get to the femur and pelvis that is taking the time to rebuild and get knitted together. The surgeon cut more of the leg to get to the femur, to remove the old hip joint cement, rather than surgically break the femur, remove from my body to remove the cement, before replacing with pins, thought best to do the longer way and save my femur as much as possible. But recovery is a bit longer. I’ll get there 😉😊😉going to see the surgeon today, it’s been 6weeks 🫣best wishes to you and the family 🖐️😊😉
I love being able to find a useful bit in the bins of scraps! I used to always say "I should just throw all this junk away, it will never be useful for anything" but I sure glad I didn't as I find things in there all the time that are needed!
They bought that pot of paint and they were going to use that pot of paint!! LOL! I have the MSC, the body and the decals on order so in a few weeks to get here. I should have it all (still need to find the MSC rod) and can get this wrapped up and back on here! I am super excited to see it all done up and looking mint! Lots and lots to do until then! Take care Fonzie!
You know these vids are still interesting if you run into problems, right?! Maybe more so, in fact - then we get to watch you solve them too. Don't worry about it not being all done instantly! Anyway, cool buggy. I had a Madcap for years. Did it black and yellow instead of boxart. Always liked the look of it, but on nicad the performance wasn't great... with more modern electrics I reckon these would be great fun. I'm digging the vintage approach though! 👍
Thank you, I am usually too hard on myself... I was hoping for a quick fix of a few things and then nothing went to plan. I have a half dozen of the servo saver kits now and the body and decals are on order and I have an MSC on its way soon. Things are coming together and as soon as I can get it wrapped up it will be back and all pretty and new (old) looking! They do run well with a good motor and modern electronics. They don't have the strongest drivetrain, I do have a part for that I am installing even though I won't run it hard! The biggest problem is finding parts and the cost of them. Since these have never been re-released the parts supply is rather scarce for some things. The front tires on this I have seen sell for close to what i paid for the whole thing! Take care and have a great rest of your week!!
That looks like. great find and it's nice to have good friends. It would be interesting to know the history. It might have been a donor car itself. Someone may have borrowed parts from it for another car. It will be a great project.
Thanks Michael! It looks like was never run which makes it a bit more confusing of what happened to the wing! It does look like it may have been handled a good bit, maybe moved around a lot so I guess it may have popped off and gotten lost or damaged, who knows though. Keith was a gentleman to offer it up for sale for what he had into it and I am super happy to have it! I am enjoying the project cars as it is very different from the kit builds. Hunting parts is a enjoyable task in itself! I have done good lately and only gotten parts and have not gotten drawn into any other project purchases from eBay! LOL! Parts are on the way and it will be a few weeks before I get everything but I am sure as soon as they show up I will get this fixed up and looking good! As soon as I do it will be back! Take care!
@@AddamsPlayground I agree. rebuild or rehab projects are enjoyable. It's fun to get things running again. I don't know if you are familiar with RC Tech. It's a group of mostly r/c car forums of all types. There are a selling forum and want-to-buy forum. You may find sources there or you can list what you're looking for. I found some bargains there and have sold things there.
@@martinhsrc6699 I am fine with MCI! They do a great job and I don't mind supporting them for all they do! Thanks for looking! I have not gotten over there to look yet!
I agree, I think it would be a great seller and I know there are a lot of folks with cracked parts and bald tires that would love to see some parts come back into the market!!
I have the new body and the decals should be here soon along with a MSC. The only thing I still don't have is the mount for the msc cover but I can make something for that part. I had to replace that wing so the body gets replaced too. The msc is actually coming from a friend so not much invested in making it top shelf hopefully!!
Hi Jeremy, I do not have a Slingshot. I really only have two older on-road kits, the Duratrax Indy car and the Trinity T-spec. The other on-road kits I have are all modern or re-release. I never got into the on-road cars back in the day as they were not something that I would not get much use out of. We have no tracks near by and I live out in the country on a dirt road so really nowhere here to drive them either. I love the tech and engineering in them but never really got into them.
Ok was just curious I had one long time ago and haven't seen one on any TH-cam channels yet you have great channel man I think you do well we need more running videos
The Baja Champ will but like many Tamiya kits there is a lot of regular plastics in the suspension arms hubs that are not huge fan of high speed tumbles! The Madcap does not have the most robust transmission and parts for these are getting very hard to get and very expensive so it will remain on stock silver can power! LOL!
If it was one I planned on driving around more than once I would have put an ESC in there for reliability. Since these plastics on these are know to be fairly fragile and very hard to get some of the parts for this is a collection piece so having the old school stuff in it was more important to me. If they ever re-release it then I will get one of them as I would love to do some laps on the track with it!!
This one was a deal he got for much less than they usually sell for so I paid him for what he had into it plus the shipping to me so it was still a great deal!

Parts are ordered and stuff is on its way so hopefully in a few weeks it will be back all wrapped up and looking fantastic! I will have to really test that radio system before i will put it into any car, I have zero trust in it at the moment! Take care!
That is so mint Addam! Props to Keith for moving it on. Certainly in better condition than the one I got 😂🤣 You will love this one.
Very cool buggy don't see many of those!! get her going!👍👍
The Madcap!! The Saint Dragon!! When I had a shop I sold a lot of them. Nice catch!!
@@AddamsPlayground was it lexan ? It might have cracked . My dt02 wing last one run 😂 take care good buddy 😊👍
@@AddamsPlayground I agree - that mini ESC would go great in something for his carper track.
Great looking buggy, Addam! I'll definitely be watching the follow up!
Thanks! I am very happy with it! It fought me a little but I have gotten parts on order to get it all fixed up and looking great. It is going to take a couple weeks to get it all and get it wrapped up but it will be back for sure. I am sure it will get a light run around in the grass along with the saint dragon!
Nice Addam looking forward to seeing it after you get it done how you want it
Thanks Will!
Parts are on the way for the buggy to get it back to 100% and I will have it back on in a few weeks or so once they all get here and I can get it wrapped up! Take care you guys and have a great rest of the week!

Yeh I'm glad you had the opportunity to buy it as well mate!, it's going to be a nice project too👌. I can totally relate to doing things when you get to it and doing what you feel like Addam, the video's are still great as well. Looking forward to seeing it's progress. Thanks mate take it easy👍😁
Super cool buy, love the look of the Madcap.
Wow that's great mate 👌
It was a cool chain of events that lead up to this and it ads to the cool factor for me! I have stuff ordered and on its way so hopefully in a couple weeks I will have everything and it will be all wrapped up and looking great! Take care Mark!
That's a pretty cool addition to your fleet. Enjoy...
It is one that I was not expecting to run into but it all worked out and I am excited to have it! I have some work to do but not a lot, just waiting for parts to arrive.
Great video Addam🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!
I don’t blame ya for wanting to do it old school. It’ll be worth the wait
Thanks Thad, it just seems right to open it up and see the MSC sitting in there! I have parts and stuff on order but they are going to be slow getting here so off to all the other project ongoing until then! It will be back as soon I as can get it wrapped up! take care bud!
@@lo2713 yes he is not a greedy guy for sure! His collection does make all of ours look much smaller so I both have goals and when my wife.complains I show her his hobby room! I can't wait to see what he has cooked up for his future hobby room he is building!!
@@AddamsPlayground yeah, the track will be awsome, i cant wait till the youngest moves out, im having a hobby room 😁😂
Yes! You got one! Reach out to me if you end up needing any parts, I have a bunch of original Madcap spares.
👍🏽 Toujours au top
It'll be a while as it will take bit for everything to get here and I still need to find the rod for the MSC but once everything is done it will be back!
cool vintage rc
Thanks brother! I have things on the way to get it wrapped up and once they are here and it is done this will be back! I think it is going to look terrific all new a fresh!
@@AddamsPlayground cool, can't wait to see how it turns out
Wow❤❤❤
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! I am super happy to have ben able to get this one for my collection!
There’s always useful unused bits out of other kits. An example the Top Force Evo has unused plastic HiCap parts as the Evo has its own unique parts.
I love being able to find a useful bit in the bins of scraps! I used to always say "I should just throw all this junk away, it will never be useful for anything" but I sure glad I didn't as I find things in there all the time that are needed!
Lmbo can never have to much paint 😂 looking forward to seeing it as you want it sounds like it will be a long project
@@AddamsPlayground 🤟😎you to take care
@@michaeldorich4485 I am not but I will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads-up!
I saw some original decals for sale I think on Tamiya legends fB about a week ago, might still be there
Thanks Martin! I will scroll back through and take a look!
@@AddamsPlayground sorry I just found them, they have sold ☹️
@@martinhsrc6699 I am fine with MCI! They do a great job and I don't mind supporting them for all they do! Thanks for looking! I have not gotten over there to look yet!
Tamiya needs to rere this.
I agree, I think it would be a great seller and I know there are a lot of folks with cracked parts and bald tires that would love to see some parts come back into the market!!
You know the dyna storm or astute slipper clutch fits that car if you wanted to put one on it.
I am leaving this one stock, just like it would have been built originally. I am not even replacing the bushings in it, just leaving it as is.
Theres nothing wrong with making it do.😂 that's how I kept my cars going for a long time.
I have the new body and the decals should be here soon along with a MSC. The only thing I still don't have is the mount for the msc cover but I can make something for that part. I had to replace that wing so the body gets replaced too. The msc is actually coming from a friend so not much invested in making it top shelf hopefully!!
How about the kyosho slingshot do you have one
@@jeremyhurst6255 yeah, I have a bunch to run. I just have not been in the mood to drive lately. I will try to get some done soon though!
i had a baja champ will it accept a brushless system?
The Baja Champ will but like many Tamiya kits there is a lot of regular plastics in the suspension arms hubs that are not huge fan of high speed tumbles! The Madcap does not have the most robust transmission and parts for these are getting very hard to get and very expensive so it will remain on stock silver can power! LOL!
@@AddamsPlayground thanks as stay safe
Are you going to run it on the track?
no, maybe a grass run but not on the track.
I thought I was gpod but you put me to shame
I would have used an esc
If it was one I planned on driving around more than once I would have put an ESC in there for reliability. Since these plastics on these are know to be fairly fragile and very hard to get some of the parts for this is a collection piece so having the old school stuff in it was more important to me. If they ever re-release it then I will get one of them as I would love to do some laps on the track with it!!
I wish he would send me something.
This one was a deal he got for much less than they usually sell for so I paid him for what he had into it plus the shipping to me so it was still a great deal!
