Thanks Ashley, Never thought of Frosting Tubs, or oil.. I dont buy much since my kids are on their own, but when I do I'll save them for my leftovers, I also keep my prescription bottles for nails, packs, pushpins anything small...

I keep my rx bottles as well. Use them for lots of little things. I save buttons in them, needles, paper clips, put Tylenol in them to keep in my purse because I buy the HUGE bottles for better pricing. Same thing with daily vitamins. I fill up a weeks worth and use one per day so I know I did t forget to take them. Save garden seeds in them. I save silver coins in them too. Real copper pennies and wheat pennies, I save in the plastic pint ice cream jars. They aren't that heavy to lift then. I was saving them in a 5 gallon water jug, but that was too heavy to move.

Ashley, you 2 constantly inspire me!
I’ve been putting food by and gardening for years. I’ve challenged myself to learn a new skill every summer.
This summer I am learning cheese-making while milk is still relatively cheap. So far, I’ve made cheddar and Gouda (my family favorites) and have been stacking cheese wheels in my “cheese cave” which is an older wine fridge set at 55*.
No pennies can be wasted now. Everything matters. Bartering really may become the way people get by in the near future.
I pray Blessing over this community, and I thank you for being a positive, loving inspiration. ❤

You are so awesome, and thank you! Cheese making is such a great skill to have. We made some goat cheese last week (just plain table farm cheese) we loved it. I have a long way to go in learning this skill and you have inspired me😍Have a wonderful Tuesday, stay safe and well❤🙌

My next challenge is cheese making. Bought the cheese presses and wheels. Waiting for our mini jersey's to wean their calves off of them, then we will have all the milk we want for dairy products. No more store bought dairy.

Great job! Those frosting containers would be a great little sewing kit, too. My goodness, Ashley! My mini container garden is doing so good!! I have ears off corn coming up, tomatoes, peppers, raspberries, oregano, basil, lemon thyme, the lemon tree is doing great, the lime tree took a spill after some happy dogs ran by, but he's coming back!! Our cherry trees are producing, and we've got blackberries everywhere! I've been saving all my jars, and I'm going to try dehydration!! I need to learn how to make my own instant rice as well! I posted my first video on my channel. It's only 2 minutes, but I don't really know what I'm doing yet. Thank you both for being so inspiring! Thor never does anything small, but in this case, with the wildlife is a good thing, but our chicken mansion is coming along!! It's feeling good. Hugs to you both. If you want to see my tiny container garden, my channel is Mum's Kitchen. Yahweh Bless and keep you both in Messiahs name!

I can’t tell you how many dirty 2 gallons frosting buckets I’ve scrubbed. Free is free! I just wouldnt wash anything that had a chemical or oil in it. Even if it’s glass you never really get it out. I lost Ball jars that I stored lamp oil in. Can’t get the gassy smell even out of glass. Yah be with you ladies as well.

I save all glass jars, bottles, and their lids. We also bought 4 cases of lug lids in case the lug lids that came with the jars/bottles become faulty. Also have about 12 cases each of wide mouth and regular mouth lids. I buy cases for each size each year to have in stock. i ordered a couple of years ago oxygen absorbers that were packaged 10 absorbers each that are sealed for a total of 100 in a bag, preventing any waste. We do at least 10 jars at a time. We even have sizes for 5 gallon food grade sealed buckets too. We freeze dry a lot of our food and i have slowly transitioned from mylar to glass. I no longer buy mylar bags, it was getting too expensive. Plus the need for electricity to seal the mylar bags and then the waste after using them. Save the landfills. Also just started using a portable vacuum sealer just for jars. We are testing that out to see how it works to keep things fresh. Your tip about the Starbucks glass Frappuccino bottles... great tip! We have our friends saving them for us. One works in a recyling center. When she can, she pulls those starbuck bottles out. We have gotton ALOT of them from her. I sterilize them before using. I reuse them for spices AND i make ice coffee or ice teas for the week and keep it in the fridge. Saves a ton of money, and we don't have to buy them ever again just to get the glass bottles. Thank you for that tip!

I just got my oxygen absorbers from Amazon a couple weeks ago! I am trying to put away as much as I can! On my jars that I cannot get the smell out I give them to hubby for his shop. This last weekend he gave me a Folgers container that was almost half full of screws. I sorted them and put them in the smelly jars so he would not use my mason jars!

If you put color stained Tupperware in the sun for a couple days, it will get rid of the stains. But make sure they are cleaned first.

Do you think the liquid coffee creamer containers or the ice coffee conditioners are ok to reuse for food .I know milk jugs are not but I think the coffee creamer is actually dairy free..just wanted your thoughts on those .they are thick plastic and seem good for something and I have thrown so many out.

This is a great question, as I have been prepping soft foods for Amy incase she has a flare up. I stock a lot of instant potatoes...not flavored ones just plain potato only flakes, and soups of all kinds. I can my own soups, but we do have a few tin cans of soup just incase. Veg and beef soups are great because I blend them up in the food processor and they basicly become a gravy to go over the potatoes. She loves this because it satisfys her and it tastes great. I also stock oats!!! Oats are great for you and keep the digestive moving. The most important prep id the antibiotics, as infection in the intestine can kill a person, so we have a souple rounds on hand at all times. We keep stool softeners and I make her a tea...(Peppermint, nasturtium leaves and flower, oregano, rosemary from my garden that I dried) (pesticides used in some growing of large brand teas are very bad for us ) and a pinch of black tea and honey. This sooths the guts and intestines. I am constantly looking for new foods to add for her, so I will let you know as I find things, I hope this helps. Please take good csre of yourdelf and stay hydrated! Hydration is importand to keep that digestive system moving. ❤🙌😍
