You really need to look into gearing it up with a smaller spur and larger pinion if you want speed. Just have to decide how important it is to you to have that transmission cover on when it comes to fitting some larger pinion gears 10.5 BL motor is plenty fast.
When I used to run RC buggies, I loved the way Tamiya's looked, but they were SOOOOO fragile and would break constantly. This was in the early 90's. Are they now as tough as a Traxxas? Or do they still break all the time?
Not as good as Traxxas or any other basher brand. They are still not basher friendly and I doubt they ever will be. They are ok on pretty flat ground, but any kind of jump your going to get an arm break at the least.
I like the way they handle. I have the same motor, and that should be the minimum power for it. It could handle more. I've seen people put standard brushless motors in, you just need to solder the wires on the other side of the posts. The TD4 and 2 are awesome buggies, it's just sad that people don't give them their due.
Paul I have both the td2 and td4 and while they are not the best looking cars I think they are superb runners. The secret it to not run too thick of oil in the shocks, especially the td2 as the front end it very light. Quality cars in my opinion
@@FullOnRC I have a 4200 kg sensorless motor in my td4 and it goes great. Such a great handling car when set up. My td2 has a speed passion 10.5 sensored brushless in and it's great aswell.
Yeah, it was not a good move to name them after iconic buggies. Probably why they kinda were undermined. Shame, because they handle beautifully (very neutral on any surface). Just need to change the diff nut to metal as the plastic one is not the best. The bodies are what they are, once in motion, it's not that bad. TD2 Astute looks much better than TD4 Avante, but a Revive RC body for the latter and the Ugly Duck transforms into a beautiful Swan 😊 Anyway, nice video as always, thanks for sharing 🤝
Yerhh hope to get it out again with different motor. The Tamiya 10.5 seems painfully slow. Do you know what year the Tamiya TBLM-02S Brushless Motor was released?
Looks like it handles really nice for 2wd and considering the conditions, but tbh I didn't like the super Avante or the Astute, they just don't have that iconic Tamiya look about them, and I really hate the mud guards (I know everyone was kickin off about them lol), but I love the inboard shocks and the chassis seems bang on, just wish a oldskool tamiya designer drew the body tbh, I don't expect an 80s body these days but just something thats sort of relatable if u get what I mean, loved the video tho mate💯 👊y.n.w.w
@@FullOnRC I've never kind of liked the "space age" kind of body's Tamiya did, even from my youth from the 80's,so this new body they did didn't really do it for me, I like the TopForce n Dyna storm era of tamiya body's when it comes to buggys, but saying that I kinda want a VQS, but it's not my sort of style but it is an iconic one I suppose
Yerhh A re-re of the classic would be awesome. I would snap one up. Always wanted one and tried to put an Astute body on my Madcap as a young lad and failed miserably. LOL

Yerhhh Think more speed would make me like it a little more. Got some motor's and ESC's on the way. I do still think it ugly though generally.
Nice video of a great buggy!
Nice one pal. Cheers for tuning in.

The ESC's I ordered came in the post today. Just waiting on the motors to come then I will run it again.

Love mine. It’s a beautiful car to drive
any mods to it Martin?

@FullOnRC It did not look that slow 🤔🧐😁 I checked on tamiyabase, and it's written 28 Jan 2015 😉

Great video Paul 👌 it's run's well but personally i don't like the look of it 🤔 You mid week lives work for me 😁 but do what's best for you mate 👍
Cheers for the feedback Mark. Yerhh it don't really do it for me visually either.
I like that tamiya did a new chassis for this, but i dont think they let the name down. An original astute rere would be nice mind 😁

Are there many differences between the Astute and Super Astute @@lo2713 ?
@@FullOnRC im not sure what they are, but super has a slipper and prob a few extra things. Just to make it super 😂
