I went to the Efteling yesterday, November 1st, and we also went to Dance Macabre. Thankfully we didn't have to wait as long as people had to do the day before. We had to wait 90 minutes. Still long, but it was doable. It is soooooo beautiful, a bit scary in the beginning, but the ride itself was soooooo smooth and nice, with the beautiful music piece. It made me a bit emotional. Because I have always loved the piece, and I was sad when the spookslot was closed and teared down. But this ride showed respect to the old spookslor and the music piece. After the ride was done I bumped in with the man who made the ride, Jeroen Verheij, such a kind man. I complimented him on the ride, and he was happy to hear it, and I could see it made him happy. I'm pretty sure lots of people told him this. And after the rudewas finished we all started clapping and cheering. In a lot of review videos ive seen sofar, this happends a lot. So wonderful😊❤
Efteling is so great. My mam went there as kid, i went there as kid, lateron with my kids, now with the grandchildren. 52 and still enjoying every minute there when im there
As a Dutch person I am of course proud of our Efteling. The Efteling has many more cool attractions, such as Fata Morgana and Symbolica, and many others. Also the fairytale forest is very beautiful.
And there was a 260 minute peak earlier in the day. Crazy! I’ll definitely wait for now. And I’ll go to the Efteling in a more opportune moment, with shorter queues (so I can ride Danse Macabre multiple times).
In reality it never was up to 6 hours, that is media exaggerating, even the four hours they had on the boards at the park weren’t that accurate it was at max around 3,5 hours. Stil a long time to wait for an attraction, even an opening one but it is an incredible one of a kind experience.
As a life long Efteling guest living 20 minutes from the park I'm excited to try this one some time soon. Most waiting ques and dark rides have smells incorporated. Fata Morgana even sells the smell in the shop. Droomvlucht might as well.
What I find a bit strange is that it appears that the ride isn't fully operational just yet. There seems to be a drop at the end into the dungeon level, but that part of the ride appears not to be ready.
@gerardflach2588 ahhh, I was hoping for that because the ride was great, but short. Big parts of the music piece I missed, who were in the old show at the spookslot
I don't know if I would take my child to that attraction. I don't even think I would want to enter. I took my 7 year old son to a medieval torture chamber in a museum. That, as it turned out, was not a good idea. And in that museum, nobody was tortured. It just showed the hardware and the guide told us how it was used. He really had difficulty swallowing even that (nighmares and all that). And I remember when I was 5, my parents took me to a castle. There was a knights suit of armor. It completely freaked me out. It was so bad that my father had to take me out. It is still one of the first and most vivid memories I have of my early years.
Heads up: Opening ceremony can be found online (not by Efteling themselves) th-cam.com/video/RqvglTYX1s4/w-d-xo.html and several onride POV's but those tend to suck (sorry) people don't know where to look and camera's have problems with the dark part of the dark ride 😅
Hmmm ... fun. But what do you know about the "Dance Macabre"? Our friend Wikipedia instructs us: "Danse macabre, Op. 40, is a symphonic poem for orchestra, written in 1874 by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. ... Analysis According to legend, Death appears at midnight every year on Halloween. Death calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him while he plays his fiddle (here represented by a solo violin). His skeletons dance for him until the cockerel crows at dawn, when they must return to their graves until the next year." Now, listen to the awesome piece here (on YT): "Camille Saint-Saëns - La danse macabre" - DrGrDo
If you want to keep working on the pronunciation… Danse Macabre the attraction is named after Danse Macabre the music piece (and I believe it was a symphonic poem before that). And the piece is French. So try and make it sound French.
today this attraction is open to the public at 5:30 there were already people at the gate of the efteling, while efteling only opens at 10:00...today the efteling opened at 8:00 by noon there was a queue for the attraction of 5 hours

The toilets 🤣😂🤣😂. The name has a double meaning: The last hope. But "hoop" can mean hope but also heap. So, your last heap at the toilet.
Whahahahhaha, dat moet ik gaan zien.

There was a four hour queue for this attraction on the first day. I think I’ll wait for another day. 😅
The next day it was 90 minutes top.
According to the newspaper, there were still people in line at closing time with a waiting time of one and a half hours
And there was a 260 minute peak earlier in the day. Crazy!

There is a video of the opening ceremony of Dance Macabre. That's great
'Danse Macabre' opened today, with the waiting queue up to 6(!) hours.
Lots of (onride) footage to be found online.

Efteling works a lot with smells in some attraction. You can also buy it as home spray
i have the Fata Morgana spray and it smells good
I hope they will add the Danse Macabre incense ("wierrook") as roomspray as well

you must enjoy the title song by Epica-the ghost in me, specially written for the attraction Dance Macabre/Efteling.
I'm going next week, really looking forward to it! Heard that the queue today was 4 hours long 😵
really a very nice ride. i was at the first ride of the opening day and there will be an episode about the opening of danse macabre.
Toitlet building 'The last hope'. In Dutch, hoop also means pile..
There are many videos of the opening on TH-cam, highly recommended

It's already working, but it happens during the ride as the platform tilts to its lowest point, not during the final drop.
They will add more effects and extend the ride program in the coming months

Minimum age for the ride is eight years old. This attraction is designed based on what an eight year old can handle.
Hey guys, did you see EPICA with " The Ghost In Me " , a song for the new attraction in " De Efteling "
It's not the final episode of Eftelings Danse Macabre. There is a number 8 whoop whoop. 😊
