  • Israeli sensation Oz Noy plays on the Seymour Duncan stage and recovers gracefully from a broken string. He starts changing up his scales and then takes on a Strat style guitar with Zephyr's while his Strat is restrung and returned by the end of the song. Steve Ferrone on drums (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) and Darryl Jones (Rolling Stones).
    String break is around 3:17

People putting down Oz Noy and never really getting how inventive a player and musician he is, especially in the way he stirs up rhythm and and how he playfully and intelligently breaks melodic conventions.

Love how Steve Ferrone is always having a good time. Especially those last couple minutes when he just starts to improvise and loosen up. Oz Noy sounds fantastic too.

String breaks happen. He should have had a guitar set up and ready to go!

STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN - Look At Little Sister 1989 (a string breaks)
This is how you recover from a broken string.

Timothy Fehr Another good one is during the Ibanez 90th Hoshino Anniversary. During the song where Andy Timmons, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai are playing, Vai breaks a string during his solo. He uses his whammy bar to compensate the guitar going out of tune and finishes his solo. Then the drummer goes for a little solo while they wait for Vai to get his backup guitar ready.
Hendrix also breaks a string during the Woodstock version of "Red House". He just keeps playing normally, only replacing the string after the song ends.

That's not really a recover that's a "let me wait for my second guitar moent" but when the string first broke i give him credit for not freaking out.

true but he did try to continue for a bit playing 6th etc skipping the broken string so good stuff still

+Lauri91 Right! Heard he uses a set of 11s with a 12 gauge high E.. you could hear how everything got brighter with the other guitar.

This is AWESOME!! Great tone on the second axe! I'm loving the looseness of the whole thing while, at the same time, the rhythm section guys are totally locked in....!

Jazz is the only genre where you can't here the difference between a broken string and a good one.

Fuq! Play air guitar or something! That wasn't a recovery. That was a crash and burn. Insert thumb in ass, stand there... Bass player and drummer dropped the ball too. But at least they kept on with that spooky shit they were playing after he got his new piece.
