Mega Man Zero 3 - Prismatic (YM2612 + SN76489 Cover)

Early on in the making, I read a comment while listening to the original song saying that remixes of it didn't quite capture the feel of the intent: a resistance well worn from the effects of prolonged war, hanging on to their last and only hope that peace will eventually come. I hope I managed to capture that feeling, in this case. That's important to me. Hopefully you all enjoy it!

This one was a bit harder to pull off. The choir's "ahhs" in the original is too difficult to recreate using FM instruments, so I tried mimicking them the best I could. I think it turned out just fine, with the rest of the instruments being tweaked here and there to somewhat resemble the original's, but with that Genesis feel to it. It was the little tweaks that took the most time, since most of the song is dominated by the same repeated bass, percussion, and beeps. You'll notice the use of the PSG3 channel used in its "Noise mode," which allows a more "crispy" bass sound when combined with FM. The other PSG channels are for the beeping, and only for that, so that was easy enough. Originally, I had a couple of samples for the DAC, but since I realized that not only could I do them well in FM, but they actually turned out better, I decided to scrap using the DAC and keep FM5 "pure." Anyways, I'm glad for how it turned out. I put more work into the little things to make sure it was the best it could be.
