- [Rather Simple] How to fold a sphere-shaped inflatable balloon from one square no cutting or taping. Yes, I know, it's not an exact sphere, but it IS an approximation of one just like how other origami models strive to emulate real-life subjects but in general aren't exactly like them. This model is also called an Orange, because my inspiration to design it came from entertaining at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, CA. To fold an orange, use orange paper. To fold a pomegranate, use red paper. To fold an ornament, use whatever paper you fancy!

Jeremy, I have a question. when you are desighning a model do you just fold randomly or do you have a plan?plz answer
+Mitchell Downing Hi Mitchell, Thanks for the question. I do a lot of experimentation, but I also use a lot of techniques that I've gathered and discovered over the years, like for instance, I have several pop-up card bases and mechanisms that I turn to when I'm experimenting, and several techniques to make models fly, spin, chomp, expand, etc. Also, when you have a clear form in mind that you are trying to design (e.g. alligator, guitar, office chair, etc.), then knowing how to control where on the square (or rectangle) appendages come from helps a lot.
Me too when i design origami, i experiment first the folds.

+Mettatonic Thanks, Mettatonic! Ya, I've also tried to design origami spheres at various times in my life (designing Gamiballs was one of them!) but it was only discovering the Easter Egg lock that made using a square base viable for making a sphere.

+Billy Rice I'm doing unicycling/juggling roving entertainment; I do four half hour sets throughout the day on my own timeline starting a 4pm. The actual fair is not that big, so, if you go, I'm sure our paths will cross.
+JeremyShaferOrigami I don't have a set schedule. Tomorrow (Saturday) the fair opens at 11am, but I'll probably start my first set around 1:30pm or 2pm and I'll do my last set when it's dark out at 7:45pm.

I'm asking cause even though your sphere is great, I'm actually intending to draw all over it.
Just cut your sheet of printer paper square. Then you can use the extra to make a spoon, a foot, a racket or a hook!
