Thanks for watching and I hope you found this interesting. A huge thank you to Andy from Sea City for the help on this video. Let me know what you think of cruising's future in the comments below - I am very upbeat about Cruising's future - there will be changes but cruising will be back!
I'm very optimistic. I see more of a divide forming between those who love cruising and those who are skeptical. I'm a guest entertainer (with Tenori). We greatly enjoyed one of your talks on the Queen Elizabeth. Many people have said to me "I suppose you won't get on a ship again". I explain at length how sanitary ships are and how the reporting has created a false impression. I think cruise fans will vote with their wallets and the industry will come back stronger than ever. I'm happy for the naysayers to stay on land...
Hi, great video. Also, remember the Southampton Mission to Seafarers who are providing support to the crews that are left onboard and are not allowed ashore.
Spent 3 days in Southampton last year before 2 cruises last year. I love the port and look forward to returning again. Really like Chris' blogs and recommend it to others.
The cruise port I’ve been to most is Cozumel. I’ve always flown in to go diving, so I’ve seen it with and without cruise ships. Sundays there are no cruise ships, and the locals gather in the main square. Lots of the stores are still open downtown, but it’s all relaxed, no hawkers in front of the stores. When a cruise ship is due to arrive, vast numbers of vehicles line up outside the terminal, ready to pick up cruisers. The hawkers assemble in front of the stores, and everything is hopping. Cozumel is pretty much 100% tourism. Sometimes it has been shut down by hurricane damage before, but this is unpredictable. Who knows when it will end?And the Mexican economy is not in great shape at the moment, so the subsidies that came for hurricane rebuilding may not come this time. Lots of the cleaning crew and wait staff will go back to their families on the mainland. I don’t know what all the dive leaders, tour guides, photographers, and so on will do. It’s got to seem like a ghost town.
Thank You for another great video. Spooky but great. Southampton gateway to the empire. Well due to the new container port of London Gateway the former container port of London Tilbury is now able to accommodate the following cruise ships Saga Sapphire Spirit of Discovery CMV’s Astoria Columbus Magellan and Vasco Da Gama So hopefully Southampton and Tilbury can earn some much needed revenue.
David Andrew Some of them are though! The Britannia is registered to UK/Southampton, and the Iona will be too. Interestingly P&O Australia’s Pacific Dawn was also U.K. registered, as is the Majestic Princess and a few others I can’t think of off the top of my head too. But you’re right most ships are Bermuda/Bahamas as they’re tax havens.
many of these old cruise ships are currently being used as prison ships, or even to carry freight , few are likely to return as actual cruise ships again as the cruise industry is unlikely to recover for about a decade, most of these ships will require a full refit which would be uneconomic so sadly the rest will be scrapped :-(
Hi there. This isn’t the case - nearly all of the cruise ships are currently laid up off the coast of various countries with only their essential crew aboard. Most will resume cruising in 2021. None are being used as prison ships or freighters. Here’s some more info: th-cam.com/video/mWEVEwDMo5g/w-d-xo.html
@@ChrisFrameOfficial This IS the case, if you think cruises will resume this year you are deluded. I have worked on cruise ships for 18 years and never seen anything like this. Most ships crew`s have been stood down leaving only skeleton staff, there are two cruise lines in major trouble financially . Ships will be re-utilised for non cruise duties or scrapped its that simple. The situation will not start to improve for at least 2-3 years thats provided countries can get a grip of covid :-(
William King , you are correct William . Manila is not part of south east Asia destination ports for most cruise lines , how come they are all parked there now ? Philippines is kind to accommodate them all. Chris Frame , please explain this situation.
Peter Freeman He is using this definition of the word park.....to bring (a vehicle that one is driving) to a halt and leave it temporarily, typically in a parking lot or by the side of the road.
Actually, it’s not a first world problem, many people from all over the world and developing countries work on cruise ships and depend on them for their income.

Last time I was in Cozumel was a day tour from the QE2!
So nice to see the ships back.
Just found your channel and have been watching so many of your videos. Keep it up!
Thank you! Glad to have you onboard 🛳
Thank You for another great video.

Great picture of you signing your incredible books!
Thank you 🙏
Very interesting, thank you. M
Quite the interesting history lesson.
Thank you for watching 🙏
Awaiting updates for Queen Elizabeth sailings...
If Cunard and P&O are based in Southampton. why are their ships not Registered there?
My next video will explain port of registry 👍

@@reececollison5101 P &O Australia's ships are, as for the rest Malta or Bermuda as I understand it. So much for supporting Southampton.
David Andrew makes absolutely no difference to their “support” of Southampton.

What do you mean major port? Manila is not major port for cruise line but over 20 ships are park here
William King , you are correct William . Manila is not part of south east Asia destination ports for most cruise lines , how come they are all parked there now ? Philippines is kind to accommodate them all. Chris Frame , please explain this situation.
Parked, not park. Anyway, cars are parked; ships moored, anchored or docked, never parked.
Peter Freeman He is using this definition of the word park.....to bring (a vehicle that one is driving) to a halt and leave it temporarily, typically in a parking lot or by the side of the road.
It not an Issue in Australia, as all Cruise Ships were given the boot. To be fair, all Cruise Line Issues are First World Problems.
