  • I've said this before on a couple of videos, there's nothing better than living close to the water. What makes it even better is when your good friend, confidante, and fishing mentee (in this case Doc) has a boat docked less than a mile from your home.
    This post-work trip in mid-September on Doc's beautiful Scarab saw us catch the tail end of the slack tide and the sea bass fishing was red hot with the tide on standby. With the fool moon however, as soon as the tide started running, the bite just shut down.

    Great vid John, way to keep striving to improve the quality of your vids, look at maybe trying out the gopro media mod which has a microphone and does seem to suppress ambient noise including wind noise, works for me, but I don't use a headcam...also just my own personal observation about sea bass, it's not the current that shuts them off as much as it becomes harder to present the lure properly in a ripping tide. The jumbos feed in the heavy current if you present properly

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the mod kit too Peter. It’s good when it’s just me at a boat show but when I’m fishing with others, it really limits what you hear from them. Also, a little more cumbersome on the battery changes. Everything is a trade off 😀

    • @PeterRanieriII
      @PeterRanieriII ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jiggingjerks that’s true, there is a trade off. Always wondered about those Bluetooth mics but it starts feeling like a whole production and the editing takes forever the more “separated” your clips are. Either way, keep up the great work 👍

  • @ninepinproductions2447
    @ninepinproductions2447 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I enjoyed the new the style. I also really enjoyed the banter between you and Doc. The one suggestion I would make would be to mess around with your audio in the future. Perhaps different microphones will not pick up as much of the drone blade noises. Also I have question, why did you choose the live well with the seabass vs bleeding and ice? Was there a specific reason?

    • @jiggingjerks
      @jiggingjerks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah got to figure out the noise with the drone - the drone itself doesn’t record audio - what you heard was the audio from the GoPro. If I lower the audio then you also don’t hear our conversation - my one thought is to have the drone firther away and then use zoom feature - the video quality then suffers.
      Re livewell, I’m a bleed and ice guy but this was Doc’s boat and he’s definitely more a live well guy…

    Doc, I love you, but get off my spot ! Just kidding, I’m a little deeper, about 12 miles out. Clam strips work best for me, but that slack current is the key. You look great. 👍🏻 on the drone footage John.

    i like the drone footage of you guys fishing. cool perspective. what drone are you using?

  • @Matt_Perch
    @Matt_Perch ปีที่แล้ว +1

    dont be afraid to step up to a heavier diamond jig when the current starts screaming, ive had 10 inch seabass smash the 6oz iron clam when that current is ripping in the sound, also using navionics finding large pieces with tide scours that have slack water behind them help keep them biting into the tide too, and of course light braid helps a ton

    • @johnkeriazesakadoc7271
      @johnkeriazesakadoc7271 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do use diamond jigs when not anchored more into October when they get even bigger.

    • @Matt_Perch
      @Matt_Perch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johnkeriazesakadoc7271 i personally use them spotlocked myself. Ill pitch ahead of the boat and get 5-6 sweeps and if the bites on they'll eat. I try to really hit those pockets of slack water behind the piece and being stationary ive found is important to that but position is key. If you're 10 feet off you wont catch them. Anyway im Happy to see you're enjoying life after battling cancer Doc. My father has blood cancer and the chemo treatments mess him up but i still try to get him on the water as much as i can
