My Lexus IS 1998 , it has 230,000 miles and it runs pretty decent,of course has a lot of scratches and dens but it has been my transportation for the last eight years
I like how back then cars didn't have a bunch of useless technology trash. That's why I prefer to drive older cars from the 90's, and early 2000's, this is my next car I'm getting for a Winter Beater. While my 07 Camry, gets a complete new paint job during Winter season.
I have an 04 lexus es300 in mint condition and I love it :D sat nav, leather, auto wipers and soo many other gadgets that you would just never imagine exist
Edit**** its 2021 and i sold the lexus .. :( i bought a 2007 manual corolla sports a few days later and absolutely hate it , yes it's more modern but drives like ass compared to a lexus.. modern cars are so cheaply made.. so a few weeks later of driving the corolla i went out yesterday and picked up a 1999 lexus es300 with 135k miles in prestine condition , rare black interior and WOW i must say it honestly is built BETTER THAN MY 2004 ES300 THAT I HAD , ths door thump is soo firm the whole car is so tight and solid im very impressed , i personally like this 97-01 model shape more than my previous 2004 model..
@@shreda125hilux7 I'm looking to buy a friend's 1999 es300 with 150k miles for $800. Needs a new starter and timing belt is due for a change. I can do both myself. Think it is worth it? No tears in the seats and decent paint. I would be the 3rd owner.
I was fortunate enough to get one of these from my uncle as a gift for my first car about 2 months ago. I just had to spend for a newer engine with about 80k miles because he let the old one go to shit according to the mechanic. Just got it outta the shop a few weeks ago and it runs great. I’m thankful this was my first car and I love it already. Hope you find a good deal for one of these because you’ll love it👍
While these will always have a special place in my heart, most used examples have hard leather that is cracking or shredded and the plastics have oxidized and are discolored. Also the 5 speed Aisin in the 4th gen ES has superior engine cruising speed at Highway speeds. Keep the 3rd gen in the garage and away from sitting in the sun and it will keep for a long time.
Very reliable and not expensive to maintain , I just bought a 2001 es300 with 222k miles . It’s solid and very clean and very dependable compared to my BMW X5
very. i got one recently for $1,000 was not in the best shape cosmetically or mechanically. 168,000 miles. got timing belt water pump and seals replaced. running reeal nice now
I would opt for the next generation 2002-2006 are the best most reliable generation. This model in the video had issues with transmission failure & engine sludge if you do your research online. They are also more prone to rust on the wheel arches than newer generations.
ant billionz Lexus is a luxury brand but you also bought a 22 year old car ....2200 for 89k miles is a good deal , although it sounds like it needed a solid bit of work .
ant billionz right now it is after you put the labor and parts in , I just meant it needed some TLC when you bought hence why you got a lower price . You were able to DIY it sounds like most don’t wanna do that so if they took it to a shop they would be all in for 3-5k with purchase price & tag/title
Still to this day, one of the best looking cars ever made. Excellent vehicle.
It doesn't even look that good

Lexus IS is gay
#herniagaming You look GAY'E 😂 In your case you look the part.... this is perfect for you girlfriend 😂😂😂
Back to the basic days of Lexus! 😍
I know. My mom had a '98 GS400, and my grandma had a '99 RX300. Both were excellent vehicles & were extremely reliable.
Nice! My grandma had a '92 SC300 for 20 years with no problems & now she has a 2012 ES350 thats been trouble free so far!
Nice car! My dad had the 98 ES300 in a white color. He sold it with only 70k miles on it and got 14000 for it!

I loved that car back in the day.
That is a smooth yet very fun car to drive
This still remains the best looking ES design ever made

I'm saving up for this. Will be my first car. Trying to figure out the most I should pay for one vs mileage.
$3000-$3500
For reference, I just bought a mint condition '99 es300 with 113k miles for $3,400

Hate how 4th gen looks. I’ll just stick to my 2001 es
There's just something about 90s Asian luxury cars I've always just loved. And they have a scent that you just can't replace.
@Camerons Car Reviews
This car also known as Toyota Windom, Toyota Vista, & Toyota Camry Prominent
I have this year make and model, it's the best car I've ever owned. If you need a reliable car, get one of these.
Why is it smoking so much? Is that normal?
I have the 1999 Toyota Avalon xls trim . It’s basically this car but a bit downgraded
No. This is just an upfitted Camry. Not the same as an Avalon by any stretch.
No.. this es300 is an upgraded Camry
Hard to find Lexus with low mileage and decent shape. I wonder who had this car.
@UnderCoverKnight I have this same car 1998 with 270k running smooth and a/c is very cold.
Shawn Kemp what do you mean these baby’s last forever if you give them care
I gotta get one myself 😂💯
Are these expensive to maintain?! I’m looking at one tmr but don’t have the best budget. I want reliability!
