    1. America has more than 6000 America ‘s companies doing business in Singapore. America will not ‘shoot its own foot’.
    2. No way America can restrict China’s goods passing through Singapore as it is the trade route where the world goods passes through.
Singapore could benefit more from America/China trade disputes instead.

US also suffers when she increases import tariff especially local commodity prices is still higher than foreign goods. In the end, nobody can win with global trade. US manufactured goods sold to her citizens, and fewer foreign buyers can afford US goods. Similar nature or quality of goods can be produced by many countries.

For a small country, SG is expert in bending with the wind.
If Trump devalues the USD, more investments will take flight. There will not be investments flocking there as the narrative suggested. Furthermore, with BRICS having their own currencies, the devalued USD may help hastening it's collapse in which case most investors will retain their portfolios in SG that have currency stability. What ever the situation is, all assumptions will only last for four years after which who knows what will happen when another POTUS takes over. Something that will never change is the Black House behind the White House that calls the shots. 😂

Fyi, the US regularly refers to Singapore as its ally. We prefer to be referred to as its trusted security partner. There are many win-win arrangements going on between the US and Singapore in various fields of engagement. No downturn in G2G relationship. We've worked well with Trump before. Just consider the Trump-Kim Summit held in Singapore. We paid for hosting the Meet. So, we will work with Trump again as we've done before.

@2:45 "... Singapore's trade volume is three times its GDP."
Huh? What? Not having studies economics or financials, I don't understand how this is possible. According to definition:
"Gross domestic product (GDP) is the total monetary or market value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country’s borders in a specific time period."
Trading is a service. So GDP should contain the so-called "trade volume" and therefore trade volume CANNOT be bigger than GDP. Hence, I doubt this sentence and this video. I just don't know how much of it is B$ and to what extent. Maybe Singapore will have no problem after all or even prosper despite US-China trade war.
Anyway, guys, do NOT trust this video.

In multi-polar world BRICS membership is becoming more useful & attractive too so no surprise Malaysia keen in that.

Trump is unlikely to ask Singapore to pay more of security as USA is the one that benefits greatly from shipping through Straits of Malacca. Moreover, Singapore is only a supply base. I believe China will want to take over the job if USA gives it up.

Overall, it was an excellently presented clip. But one shouldn't forget that Singapore has long been attuned to anticipating American moves and taking not just pro-activr but also preemptive positions. For example, Singapore has long been pro-Israel while it is only in recent times that the US' America First began to also read Israel First even in the US. Furthermore, Singapore did not wait for the US to turn isolationist before it embarked on greater regionalization initiatives. So, though there may be some impact in the financial and technological sectors, these may not translate to a GAME OVER for Singapore under Trump as alluded to by this otherwise excellent clip. 😂 ❤
