Afterall when you look at most content creators, that’s what they do. Maybe they own a V4 and then borrow somebody else’s RSV4 for the day and then try to tell you which one they like better. It’s hard to really form a conclusion that way. That’s why I waited so long to make this video. It’s not really fair to the other bike when you’ve spent 6 months on one and 1 day on the other. I stand by my conclusion the V4 is a better bike, but the RSV4 is just full of character and that 1099cc Aprilia engine is just a crown jewel of the motorcycle world. Take care man. 👊🏽.

I have heard some great things about the new Gabro mtorque map. I will certainly have to try that at some point. There's a long list of reasons why the Pani V4 is the better bike, but for whatever reason, man I just prefer to ride the Aprilia. Take care, thanks for the comment and for watching.
The other huge difference between the two: RSV4 Valve springs vs. Ducati Desmosedici system. I own a 2017 RSV4 RF, dropped a valve at 18k miles causing catastrophic damage to the engine. I did perform the 12k valve adjustment, and the next "recommended" valve check was at 24k. I thought I was in the clear. However what they don't tell you, is that if you tend to do more spirited riding and/or track days frequently revving past 12,000 rpm- you should cut those service times in half. I now have a destroyed engine on my hands. Currently searching for a used replacement. I wouldn't dissuade ppl away from the RSV4, but those valves need frequent checks- even if you aren't a spirited rider. And I would learn how to do it yourself considering most service dept charge $1500 for the check (not including any adjustments if any are out of spec.) RSV4's have a bad rep when it comes to dropping valves. With many of them being out of spec even off the showroom floor. This is why I'm looking at Ducati as my next super bike, because of the Desmo system. You still have to check clearances, but don't have to worry about Valve Float or spring breakage. My two cents.
Ducati....the ultimate Winter bike....I think the "head" directions on the Ducati....is the heat problem...."I think"....another vlogger.... brought this up
Yup. Heat is a big one. It’s more than just being uncomfortable. Summer time you will bake on these bikes. I don’t know why Ducati just can’t figure that heat part out for these Panigale’s.
I owned a Tunono 1100, and even though it's not an RSV4 (Which I almost got, but my back is shot), I can attest the engine was an angry beast, haha. I also owned a ZX14R, but the Aprilia was much angrier. I was warned about OEM parts availability before I got it, but I never needed any, so it didn't matter. I did get a few items from AF1 Racing, which they had in stock. Quality was very high I thought, compared to all the Japanese bikes I've owned. Nice finishers on all the bolts and fasteners. I want to want a Ducati, but I'm not excited about that new V2 (Or the cost of a used one, really), and I'm not dropping V4 money on something that might get a few hundred miles a year. Maybe a used Hypermotard is in my future.
MT09 is a great bike. I hope you do keep it forever and put many many miles on it. Appreciate you supporting the channel and leaving a comment. Thank you!
Great vid! I love both those bikes but went the RSV4 route. For me the better bike. Also Aprilia part availability is not so much an issue here in the Netherlands. Also ordered some carbon parts from Maxicarbon after seeing your videos. Thanks man!
Man that’s awesome to hear and glad part availability is much better in your country. Hope you are enjoying those Maxicarbon parts. They certainly aren’t perfect but I’ve seen carbon that’s a lot worse that’s for sure. Thank you for your support!
Appreciate it! Motorcycles are fairly new to me, but I have a lot of experience in the car world so making those links comes natural for me. Thank you for watching and for commenting!
Have V4R 2020 and RSV4F 2023, both full race exhausts. For me ride wise RSV4>V4R. Quality V4R>RSV4. Blessed to have both. I agree with most of your sentiments! Although to me the Ape is easier to work on, Duc is harder to take apart and install items.
Same brother. I’m just grateful to have either of these machines. Having both is an absolute blessing. The aprilia is easier to work on in certain ways and the Ducati is easier to work on in other ways. Ducati might have a little more complicated design language, but the way that Aprilia uses 5 different types of fasteners to hold a side fairing on is just asinine. Enjoy your R and RSV4F, ride safe bro.
I actually prefer the cleaner look without decals. When I first saw the red and black Aprilia with minimum decals that was my calling. I prefer that look and I also prefer the clean look of the Ultra Gold. And everywhere I stop but I'm on my bike everyone loves it and they love the way it looks and sounds. But when I was listening to you talk about all the good stuff about Ducati with the parts availability, aftermarket availability premium feel etc... I was still saying to myself "The RSV4 is the better bike to ride hands down. That's not even considering the sound of the bike or the cruise control cherry on top 😅 And right at the end you chose the RSV4 and I couldn't agree with you more. I think got luckier than you are because I haven't experienced long wait times for parts with the more recent one being an engine in my RS660 that took two weeks to get it in and one day to install which was kind of insane and even the folks that were at Iron pony couldn't believe it. And one other important factor is the cost of maintenance on the Ducati's versus the RSV4. Some people I know who have Ducati's or absolutely appalled lol .. awesome vids brother! Keep it up!!
Appreciate you sharing your experience. I can totally understand the preference of a cleaner and more simple livery. Ducati maintenance is really not that bad if it's modern. If you look at the service intervals (as long as you don't have a model with a dry clutch), they are pretty long. First service for my V4 was $380, about the same as any first service for any other bike. I doubt there's any significant difference in maintenance cost between the two brands. Keep enjoying your Aprilia's bro, they are a ton of fun. Most of all, thank you for supporting the channel!
Oh wow!!! I like the lite feeling of the cbr 1000rr......but it doesn't have alot of the " Bells&whistles" and you have to purchase extra parts to up the brakes and rear shock and also Honda wants you to pay extra for the bi- quick shifter( which I hear isn't great unless the bike is flashed). The RSV4 is fully loaded including CC & HG!! I'm just having a time with my decision between the 2 bikes. I'm only 5'8 171 lbs and that cbr1000rr really felt lite n nimble. Also will installing brembo calipers and the ohlins rear shock add weight or make a difference how lite the cbr1000rr felt? Don't mean to ask so many questions....your insight has been greatly appreciated n helpful
Yeah if you are looking for something light, then the RSV4 isn’t it. Once you are moving the RSV4 is incredibly nimble and all that weight seems to disappear. However, moving it around in a parking lot or within your garage, it is heavy. Aprilia reports its wet weight at 445, which is basically the same as a Panigale V4. But there’s just no way. If you look at how it is constructed and how heavy it feels moving it around, there’s no way it’s the same weight as a Panigale. As far as your CBR upgrades, that won’t make any appreciable difference in weight. It won’t have the bells and whistles of the Aprilia, but if the CBR feels better to you then I wouldn’t shy away from it.
Great video was looking for a video like this , can i ask what height are you ? i ask just to know how rsv4 or v4 feel to sit on/lean off ? and also do you consider the up spec models of each ('s' and 'factory) why/why didnt you get them, thanks Adam
Thank you for the compliment. I am 5’5”. Both are tall for me obviously but the RSV4 is manageable as far as height goes. Leaning off of, the RSV4 is also more comfortable. The shape of the RSV4 tank works a little better for me, it’s a little more square as opposed to the V4’s more teardrop shaped tank. I did consider the S and the Factory but both have electronic suspension. I did not want that added complication. I was just at Bellissimoto in Las Vegas a few days ago and they said they are deleting electronic suspension all the time. They actually have a device you plug in which will trick the computer into thinking the electronic suspension is still there, even though it’s not. Almost like an exhaust servo eliminator. I ended up putting the S wheels on my V4 since they are forged and will also end up putting the Factory forged wheels on my RSV4. Hope that helps Adam.
Have you ridden a Tuono? If so how does that compare to the RSV4? I compared a Streetfighter to the Tuono and the SF feel like it has no torque down low.
I have not gotten the opportunity to check out a Tuono, but would like to. I like how the Tuono has at least some fairings so you get some wind protection. You are right about the 1103 Ducati V4, no bottom end compared to the Aprilia 1099. The Tuono’s are also geared a little shorter so that’ll make it feel stronger down low too.
Great video, really good comparison. I had and RSV4 which I traded for my 2024 s1000rr, you are correct, the controls in the RSV4 are not the greatest, compared to the other bikes. But that engine, How I miss that engine sound. I will get another RSV4, I think I can squeeze one more bike in my garage.....
S1000RR is a great bike as well. That 1099cc Aprilia V4 is just a magnificent engine. Basically it’s the single component that makes the bike. Hope you end up being to squeeze it into your garage next to your 1krr.
I absolutely love my rsv4, and cruse controll has spoiled me so much lol. That being said ducati definitely has better fit and finish but I don't think I'd trade it for a penagali.
@ it looks very sketchy for you to put down that stand but if theres a way for you to work around that comfortably i wish you the best! :D merry christmas!
As a 6.2 i can't ride the rsv4 , i love it but very difficult to ride, tuano is good option for tall riders, V4 is always a winner for me ,3rd new one next week for me😂
Hello! Today I had the opportunity to see the Ducati v4s/r in person! Wow!!! Didn't realize just how big that bike is!! I think you mentioned you were 5'4 how are you able to ride that thing! The engine on that Ducati was unbelievable.
Also I had the chance to see the v2 and the seat height was 33.5 and having a bad rt.hip it was difficult to sit on the bike. However I was able to sit on the cbr 1000rr with hardly no difficult and i noticed the 1000rr seem to be lighter than the cbr 600rr for some strange reason.
They are indeed very tall. I had to lower my V4 about half an inch just to reach the kickstand. The V4 is also very wide so that doesn’t help my situation either. My RSV4 I don’t have much trouble with it fortunately. Could just be how the weight is distributed on that CBR 1000. Some bikes just feel very light regardless of their actual weight. The old Panigale V2 was this way. It’s similar weight to a V4 but did not feel like it at all in real life. The V2 feels 20-30 pounds lighter than the V4, even though it’s not.
Good review/content! Im leaning towards the RSV4 , it seems to be the best bang for the buck and its not as expensive as the Ducati even though the Ducati is more aesthetic to the eye! Did you have a chance to ride the Factory RSV4 and what were your thoughts?
Appreciate the support, thank you! RSV4 is tough to beat for the money. It’s competitive in cost to Japanese bikes but are a lot more interesting. I did not ride an RSV4 factory. I have heard from many people who ride both that the forged wheels on the factory are noticeable. I will probably end up putting the forged wheels off a factory on my base RSV4 sometime next year. The electronic suspension you can skip. I know quite a few guys who have gone from electronic suspension bikes, back to standard suspension. It’s just less complicated and less to go wrong. I was just at Bellissimoto in Las Vegas today and the tech there was installing an electronic suspension override device on a V4S so the owner can go to standard shock/forks/dampener.
@@ridewithKY Hmmm, would you think the GP-22 on your Aprilla would fit as a slip on my MT? I like the MT10 SC version but the GP-22 looks like a Toce exhaust and i love that
Awesome man! Glad you enjoyed the video. 👊🏽. Yeah man, even though manual transmissions don’t make much sense anymore in a practical or even personal aspect. If you are an enthusiast, you just have to have 3 pedals!
As a very very general statement; Ducati tends to be more mechanically sound than Aprilia. However, the later RSV4’s tend to be very solid mechanically.
I have had my RSV4 for a long time and ridden friends v4/v4s/v4r and mid corner adjustment feels sketchy on all v4 models except V4r maybe it’s the Ohlins? But s has Ohlins, maybe frame the holes are larger in it. Fair review Pani stupid hit street fighter manages heat very well.
I agree on your thoughts of the handing for the V4. Seems as if the V4 is a little more eager to change directions but just doesn’t feel as planted as the RSV4. Could just be riding skill though… could be the Ohlins since the R has manually adjustable f/r suspension. Electronic suspension has never impressed me too much. Take care man, enjoy that RSV4.
Haha MV makes some super cool bikes. Just wish their quality and part availability would improve. Looks like that won’t happen seeing as KTM has ditched MV. 😐.
@@ridewithKY I agree! I wish the quality and parts were a bit better too. I was pretty surprised about the KTM deal! Less than a year and already got dumped!
That RSVR sounds absolutely ignorant loud lmao, louder than my Yamaha R1M with the Motoamerica Graves Moto 1 system n it is louder than the SC 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Aprillia is the best sounding bike, the Crossplane is close but 🤷🏻♂️
It’s so loud 😂. But certain engines can get away with being that loud. I mean, if I had an Aventador, it’d be straight piped too 😂. Crossplane R1 is definitely up there. Sometimes I think the R1 sounds just as good as these RSV4’s honestly. Take care bro.
P.S. You said at the end "I'm sure the Panigale V4 is quicker on track". Eh, mayyybe? Max Biaggi won world Superbike on the same Aprilia chassis though. If you start around 12:20, you can see two highly experienced riders getting faster lap times out of a 2005 GSXR1000. Even they couldn't figure out why that was. :D th-cam.com/video/q0O8Q0x38mI/w-d-xo.html
As far as lap times go, there are a lot of variables that contribute to the time for each specific bike. As a general statement the Pani V4 is the faster bike around a track. The GSXR comment I won’t even address… there’s no way you believe as a general statement, a 20 year old GSXR is as fast as a current gen Panigale V4…
Did you see their results in the video? Two professional testers/racers, same tires, same conditions, they swapped bikes and tried again, put on identical tires and tried again, ect. They couldn't make the Panigale faster, even though they thought it should be. Even if it was just close, it's still super impressive. In the beginning he was just hoping to come within a second and a half on the GSXR, and ended up winning by that much. The GSXR has like 55,000 miles on it too, lol. Sure, the suspension could probably be dialed in better, but two pro testers didn't notice anything wrong, so it probably wasn't bad. I'm just sayin', the RSV and Pani are probably super close, and it would come down to rider and setup on any particular day.
@@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy It's.a great video and has been around a long time. I always was impressed at the lengths they went to in order to try to diagnose why they were faster on the GSXR1000. Again, you can't be serious that as a general statement you really think a 20 year old GSXR is as fast as a current gen Panigale V4. Under certain conditions, absolutely. That's why there are certain tracks (Buttonwillow being one of them) where a 600 or 750 can actually be faster than a 1000 with the same rider. That doesn't mean as a general statement, a GSXR 750 is faster than a GSXR 1000. There will be certain conditions where the RSV4 will be faster, but as stated in the video, it is not the faster bike in general.
@@ridewithKY Yea, well I'd hope the rider aids would help some, if they were ideally applied, otherwise they could cost time. I went down a rabbit hole last night studying liter bikes over the years. I've been into MC's since the early 90's. Actually, the Ducati 851 Superbike was my first love. The GSXR from 2005 on, in 20 years, really hasn't gained any power. The only reason a N/A 999cc bike is more powerful, is due to a higher redline. I looked at all the specs from all the years where a model has changed. Each time the peak HP number went up, so did the redline. I ran some calculations, and the power is exactly explainable by the RPM. The trade-off is that the bikes lose torque down low too. The later model has virtually the same torque, but it takes another 2500-3000rpm to get it. So, I compared the 2024 Panigale V4 to the 2005 GSXR, and the GSXR makes nearly the same torque as the Panigale, but it does it 2500 rpm sooner. This should give the GSXR good drive out of corners, whereas the Panigale will get its advantage on long straights where redline matters more. The GSXR is also 20lbs lighter. 20 years later, we still can't beat physics. Either bike, race prepped, on any given day could win. The GSXR in the video did have upgraded suspension, and that's where it probably had its advantage, and apparently Ducati said they spec'd the V4 with a soft rear spring for comfort or something. No idea why they'd do that on their top sportbike. Later Euro 5 models have other problems, with fuel and noise restrictions, so some years just to have the HP remain the same, they still had to raise the redline, it that case a move backwards, IMO. A couple ft lbs of torque were lost and the addition of mandatory CAT's and larger silencers added weight as well. This is why the K5 GSXR is considered one of the greats. We think it's old tech now, but I can see why it's right up there. I've never owned one though, a Ducati looks much better. I looked up a few CBR's too, and it looked about like the same story. Only so much power to pull out of 999cc.
With all due respect, but you didn't do your homework before comparing Aprilia to Ducati... For example Aprilia uses a clutch cable because it feels better when starting, 2024 moto gp switched to cables. For parts, in europe there is AspecialParts, I get anything in less than 24 hours. Yes to USA it will be longer but definitely fast enough... I could name many more...
The entire MotoGP grid switched over to cable in 2024? If that’s your implication, then that’s inaccurate. So looks like you did not do your homework. 😂. For a few years now it’s been a mixed bag between hydraulic and cable for MotoGP. To be fair there are advantages and disadvantages for both cable and hydraulic. One is not inherently better than the other. For a street application on these liter bikes, hydraulic is the way to go.
@@ridewithKY I didn't write that all of MotoGP changed from hydraulics to cables. There were a few factory teams that had problems with starting, then they switched from hydraulics to cables. Man, I've been working on Italian bikes for about 20 years, your story is completely untrue. Don't be mad about it, accept the truth.
Weird as hell. I was at Bellissimoto today, tech said he had an F4 in the shop that was having a weird rough idle and random shut down issue. Owner replaced the entire ignition system AND replaced the ECU. All the grounds tested good. Bellissimoto tech just so happened to plug another F4 dash cluster in and it solved the issue. 😐😐😐. The cluster bro…
Street all the time ? You’re missing out on all that money spent. Both my sportbikes are dedicated track bikes. At least 14 full days on the track each year. My bagger is for the streets. 21 RSV4 F and 2011 ZX6R are track only here.
These bikes r purely race bikes with lights and indicators chucked on for racing in world superbike and other fim racing around the world , in fact they hardly even make money for their companies but the .ain reason is to get the brand out their to show how good their bikes r . They certainly and shouldnt b made for comfort, they have touring and street fighters for that , so dont go out n buy a superbike and then complain that iys not comfortable, it was never made to b , just go out and buy something for ur soft sqwidgy self and stop complaining.
You must have been watching a different video because I didn’t say any of those things. Also, neither of these bikes are used in any class in World Super Bike. 😂😂😂.
The sounds of rsv4 its much better. The ducati sounds is no good it may be the dry clutch or something plus the the front face is ugly. Rsv4 for the win
Im close to trying to get a 24. The 25 looks sooooooooooooo good tho. Stingray blue? Im so down. Do u think if I pay in cash u could get a base for less than the 19099 msrp?
The 25 RSV4 is pretty nice looking, I must say. Seeing as it's a refresh, you probably won't be getting any substantial discount right away. Cash usually doesn't make any difference as far as a discount goes. Many dealers prefer not to have to deal with cash anyways.
So if I’ll buy now for my city not for racing with durability and reliable and power which is better and had very less issue and less recall tell me please
So if I’ll buy now for my city not for racing with durability and reliable and power which is better and had very less issue and less recall tell me please
I would say durability and reliability, it'd have to go to Ducati. Although Ducati's are not 100% problem free, they are less prone to issues than Aprilia.
I’m amazed at how impeccably clean you keep your bikes. They look like they’re straight out of a showroom. Well done!
Thank you for the compliment! When you work so hard to buy these things you want to at least try to keep them nice! Thank you for the comment. 👊🏽.

Man that’s awesome to hear and glad part availability is much better in your country. Hope you are enjoying those Maxicarbon parts. They certainly aren’t perfect but I’ve seen carbon that’s a lot worse that’s for sure.
Thank you for your support!
Thank you so much for great video!)
No, thank YOU for watching!
I like your comparisons to cars!
Appreciate it! Motorcycles are fairly new to me, but I have a lot of experience in the car world so making those links comes natural for me. Thank you for watching and for commenting!
Take that Aprilia and turn the handlebars all the way to the left with the ignition turned on. You're going to love it.
Are you referring to the lever hitting the fairing?

If I may ask, is the RSV4 lite when you tilt it over like the Honda cbr 1000rr?
The RSV4 is heavy when manipulating it. It is a pig.
@ridewithKY great information to know, thank you
Awesome. Glad to be of help!
Yes! Cruise control is so good!!!!!
It really is. Makes the bike so much more enjoyable to ride for long distances.
I absolutely love my rsv4, and cruse controll has spoiled me so much lol. That being said ducati definitely has better fit and finish but I don't think I'd trade it for a penagali.
Definitely.
You should do track day reviews for the bikes.
I don’t track my bikes.
how tall are you? i never rode a ducati but an rsv4 factory and reaching the foot stand is easy for me and im 176cm in asia
I’m 5’4”. RSV4 stand is not an issue, it’s the V4 that’s the problem.
@ it looks very sketchy for you to put down that stand but if theres a way for you to work around that comfortably i wish you the best! :D merry christmas!
It is. Just have to be very careful but I love my V4 either way. Wish you the best as well, Merry Christmas to you!
Thank you for your support!
As a 6.2 i can't ride the rsv4 , i love it but very difficult to ride, tuano is good option for tall riders, V4 is always a winner for me ,3rd new one next week for me😂
Haha awesome, enjoy your new V4 when you get it next week.
Wow......what about the power modes on the RSV4? Can you reduce the reduce the power so the response isn't so brutal?
Yes. Like most modern motorcycles; the RSV4 does have power modes. The modes will dull the motor down quite a bit if you want it too.
I LOOVE my MT10s big bang growl (granted i dont have a SC on mine, maybe it'll sound similar when i do), but that RSV4 cold start is NAAAASTY. Gimme!
Cold start on these RSV4’s are absolutely insane. You’ll love that MT10 even more when you put that SC on it. CP4 is just a wicked sounding engine!
@@ridewithKY Hmmm, would you think the GP-22 on your Aprilla would fit as a slip on my MT? I like the MT10 SC version but the GP-22 looks like a Toce exhaust and i love that
That I couldn’t tell you. I mean there’s really not much to the GP-22. It’s just a straight pipe that SC charges $2200 for.
That was interesting, just what i wanted to know, and even the car i have been considering buying, in black and manual😅
Awesome man! Glad you enjoyed the video. 👊🏽.
Yeah man, even though manual transmissions don’t make much sense anymore in a practical or even personal aspect. If you are an enthusiast, you just have to have 3 pedals!
RidewithKY, do you think the Aprilia is more mechanically reliable than the Ducati Panigale?
As a very very general statement; Ducati tends to be more mechanically sound than Aprilia. However, the later RSV4’s tend to be very solid mechanically.
@@ridewithKY RidewithKY, quick question, where did you get your decal sticker for your Aprilia?
No problem man. The decal kit is from ASD Designs in France. Thank you!
Amazing machines!
YOUUUUUU! Appreciate you big homie 👊🏽.
Where did you get that floor brotha?
The floor is Swiss trax. You can get it direct or you can buy it through Obsessed Garage (which is what I did).
@ridewithKY looks sweet man!
Thr RSV4 sounds nasty 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!!!
- MV Agusta enters the chat
😂 really though, I’d have to go aprilia on this one too. A lot of bike for the price, great value!
It’s a damn shame. I would be open to an MV in the future, but they’ve gotta get their stuff together. Appreciate you commenting and watching. 👊🏽.
@ Yez zir,you take care n keep em comin,luv the bikes 🙏🏼👊🏼
Appreciate you! Thank you for the positivity.
Only so much power to pull out of 999cc.
are u korean or Chinese? very good content
Actually Japanese. Thank you for the support! 👊🏽
@@4kausai you said “2024 MotoGP switched to cables” 😂.
You can do something for a long time and still not be good at it…
The correct answer is: Ducati aesthetics and build quality with the RSV4 engine 🤝
When I look at aprilia quality next to Ducati 🤢. But then I remember at least it’s not an MV 😂.
@@ridewithKYMAAAAN 😂 don’t get me started with MV.
@ damn bro that’s gg. I wouldn’t want to see the RO on that one 🫠
😂😂😂. $5000
Street all the time ? You’re missing out on all that money spent. Both my sportbikes are dedicated track bikes. At least 14 full days on the track each year. My bagger is for the streets. 21 RSV4 F and 2011 ZX6R are track only here.
Yeah I’m not going to buy a motorcycle solely to go to the track once a month… You use your bikes how you want, I’ll use mine how I want.
I put 13K kms on my panigale v4 8 months
Awesome man, glad you are getting out on your V4 a lot.
Eh… I mean I don’t think the Ducatis sound bad. But the RSV4 definitely sounds much better. So aggressive.
@@ridewithKYthis video def sold me. I got a 21 rsv4 factory. Of course it's been snowing for like 2 weeks now
@ awesome man, so glad the video was helpful in making your purchasing decision. Enjoy your new RSV4, they are a blast!
@ so r u sure it’s more reliable than rsv4 …. And bro Whic one is more louder ????
Yes. The Aprilia is louder.
@@ridewithKY u didn’t replied that which one is actually more realivale ???
