Chris buttermilk is hard to get here in Cardiff, and when you can find it, it’s expensive..any alternatives.? Thanks ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇮🇪❤️

Yes, add about 1 tbsp of vinegar to some milk and leave it for about 5 minutes 😉

@@irishbakerabroad thanks..appreciated. I’ve ended up with crumbly bread from my efforts with yogurt or lemon juice in milk etc. I’ll give this a go . 💚🇮🇪💚

Made a variation on this this evening Chris…soured the full fat milk with the vinegar…threw in various seeds..sunflower etc, I’d no spelt so used oats and it’s really yummy! Doubled up and made a large round loaf. 3/4 of it now frozen…The Dublin crew coming to Cardiff this weekend will be enjoying it with their healthy version of a fry! I’m fancying adding fried chopped onion next time, maybe add some cheese..the sky’s the limit! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💚🇮🇪❤️

@@irishbakerabroad the vinegar-soured milk trick worked well in place of buttermilk…a ton cheaper too, here anyway. This loaf is a fantastic texture Chris and not crumbling to bits at all like some previous attempts did. Good hit! Thanks. ❤️🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💚

Chris do you see if you were to make enough for 3 loaves. Do you just treble the ingredients or is there a rule of thumb to follow.
