Hi Mike, thanks for your comment - I checked the manual and you are correct that Remington advises not to fire without the choke tube installed. From a practical point of view - there is no reason to not use one as you do risk damage to the threads and the shot pattern is useless. Turkey Season 2019 is a month and a half away and hopefully I see something this year!

Not good to shoot without a choke in
