A point I’ve been thinking about lot about. It’s not that the fascists won, it’s that they’ve always won, and the guys that won just now are only worse in a couple of ways than their opposition. They all agree on some basic anti-immigrant stuff, they all love capitalism, they all don’t care to question the international slavery that creates our products, they all don’t care about Palestinians, and historically they all participated in disenfranchisement of the poor and the invasion and destruction of other nations for their own financial and political gain. This time one of them as a slightly better stance on domestic civil liberties, but they are not about to abolish for-profit prisons or rework the criminal justice system or set free all non-violent offenders or create consequences for bad cops. It is sad that our rights are on the line and good people are going to be violently uprooted from their lives because the republicans won, but it’s just as sad that there was no party running that wasn’t okay with our already fascist state of affairs.

Hey everyone, just wanna say that fascism is internally incoherent and even with no pushback it ultimately eats itself eventually. We gotta find the stress points and make them bigger.
Fascism is an autoimmune disorder of capitalism. Rather than resolving the internal contradictions built into capitalism, it heightens them, like a fever, to burn out any threats to that system. Capitalism is always in or approaching crisis and fascism gives it's owner class an easy answer to the rabble. These moments of crisis, which birth fascism, also give rise to us: the working people who will one day lay waste to the system that is killing our home, killing our neighbors, and killing us.

yeah, people don't even bother to get to know or understand what fascism or nazism means. although, both of them promote strict order and hierarchy, but that is only one propertie of those amongst many
actually this is pretty prescient. Fascism originally arose as a response to the collapse of the first cycle of capitalist globalization between 1815-1914 which was imperialist in nature, fanning the flames in the creation of a nationalist identity both in competitive response to other European countries imperializing and in the collapse and demands to re-domesticate the economy. The whole point is to promote one's nationalist identity as a means to cathect all the discontent and anger generated by the collapse of the economy onto the international 'other' (other countries, national identities, eventually ethnicities, etc.) who stole the once great valor of the nation. The solution? A mythical heroic strongman who will rise up and guide the nation against the international other. This redirected peoples discontent away from economic-structural problems by blaming individual groups and minorities, promoting class collaboration to obscure class conflict, a harsh stamping out of left-wing and socialist organizations (who were viewed as amoral, jewish, plotting, and a threat to order) that *did* attempt to bring attention to the structural nature of the crisis. You saw this with Mussolini, Franco, Hitler, etc. Now let's take a look at the 40 year secular stagnation of the global economy and its constituents including America, rising levels of inequality and wages not catching up to costs despite massive productivity gains, creation of an economy entirely dependent on consumer debt, and all the discontent created by this. Now let's take a look at the heroic strongman of Trump hailed cultishly as the one who will protect you all from the evil globalist other of immigrants, of China, of Mexico, and will restore the lost legacy that once was (literally the slogan "Make America Great Again"). Now lets take a look at the new red scare he's trying to incite with calling a moderate liberal like Kamala Harris a radical marxist communist, the democratic party a marxist party with no family values and amoral. Seeing some resemblances? A main difference is that unlike back then, the right-wing populists have to pretend as if there's this looming threat of a socialist takeover to rile up their base because there's no actual left wing at all in America. Calling the Republican Party at the very least a crude & nascent form of fascism *cannot get any more accurate* unless your view of fascism is so one dimensional and historically illiterate that it means offing millions of people in camps right away absolutely no dogwhistling, with no covert manipulation, with no victimizing, etc. If fascists were like that from the start it could never gain any substantial power, and you flatter modern society too much for thinking people in the past were that dumb compared to us oh so enlightened moderns. The Germans didn't just wake up one day and look at a newspaper with some NSDAP dude saying 'we need to off millions of people based on their ethnicity, political affiliation, and religion' then suddenly go 'damn, that actually makes sense. count me in!' you're historically illiterate if you think fascism arose in any way other than the type of self-victimizing, nationalist reaction to capitalist globalization and its economic contraction, heroic strong-manning, blaming the international 'others', type shit we're seeing now. Law and order was one of the primary 'aims' exalted by fascists.
From Wikipedia: Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy. Opposed to anarchism, democracy, pluralism, egalitarianism, liberalism, socialism, and Marxism, fascism is at the far right of the traditional left-right spectrum. ... Fascism rejects the view that violence is inherently negative or pointless but rather views imperialism, political violence, and war as means to national rejuvenation. ... Fascism's extreme authoritarianism and nationalism often manifest as a belief in racial purity or a master race, usually blended with some variant of racism or discrimination against a demonized "Other", such as Jews, homosexuals, ethnic minorities, or immigrants. These ideas have motivated fascist regimes to commit massacres, forced sterilizations, deportations, and genocides. Most/All of which sounds a hell of a lot more like Trump and the Republicans than Kamala, Joe, and the Democrats. Lot of gaslighters in these comments trying to say otherwise.

Now a days where people label anything that promotes order and stability as "fascist" and "evil". 🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂
yeah, people don't even bother to get to know or understand what fascism or nazism means. although, both of them promote strict order and hierarchy, but that is only one propertie of those amongst many
actually this is pretty prescient.

They might have won the war, but we had all the best songs.
Great cover Todd, we need inspiration from Woody in these dark times.
"Those who do not remember the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them". OR, as The Doctor (Doctor Who) once said, "Stupid apes".
what an absolute banger
"This machine kills fascists"-- Woody Guthrie
Bound to lose is a very strong statement.

From Wikipedia:
Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy.
Ah, yes, Wikipedia... changing definitions so it fits for the fascist and not the common men
@@Fallen-Saint how many?
You lost your argument at from Wikipedia
lmao thanks for putting something of worth in the comments
If you know a more credible source with a different definition, then post a quote or link. You lose your argument by making claims without evidence. Wikipedia used to be notoriously inaccurate, it's much more reliable now but can't shake that reputation

My politics in 2016: "Both sides have good points and bad ones, we just need to come together and get along."
My politics now:
"I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship. An hour of wolves, and shattered shields, when the Age of men comes crashing down. But it is not this day, this day, we fight!"
My grandfather fought in WW2. I shall not go to my fathers' mighty company ashamed!

@MacenW thanks 😊🙏
Thank you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Just as true as when he wrote it, hell fucking yeah
This is a story that will be told to children for centuries. About how the chosen one saved America, then had his name slandered for eight years. They called him a racist and a rapist. A thief. A fascist. Literally anything they could think of. They brought him to court, took his money, shamed him. Even put slanderous movies about him in theatres. Even shot him in the fucking head. But he never gave up. And then he won. He won so hard that even though they cheated, he still fucking won by a lot. He's an American hero and today is history. It will be a legend. The Legend of Trump.
You're ill, i hope you get better soon
First they came for the immigrants, and I did not help them for I was not an immigrant.
Next they came for the liberals, and I did not help them for I was not a liberal.
Next they came for the minorities, and I did not help them for I was not a minority.
And then they came for me, and nobody was around to help me.
First they came for the immigrants, and I did not help them for I was not an immigrant.

Got a Bob Dylan thing going on there.😊
Beautiful
I wish we were living in the same world my friend, from where I'm standing it's lookin a lot like the fascists are winning, and the majority of people seem to be okay with that. Dark times...
They will only win if we give up.
It's like smiling at yourself in the mirror when you couldn't be further from wanting to smile. It still boosts your mood. If you believe you're going to lose, you will. If you tell yourself you're gonna win, even if it feels like a lie, you can find some hope, keep going, and recruit others to your cause.
To quote a cartoon character, "Look, blind optimism isn't great, but no optimism means we already lost. We need hope. We need to take risks."
- Yang to Ruby in Risk, RWBY Volume 8
Morale boosting is absolutely necessary for the resistance. Simply making music is a form of activism. I'm a cartoonist, so I'll be making posters.
What is one personal strength that you can contribute to resisting tyranny? No contribution is too small nor too great.
