Jingles, Bethesda did not make Fallout 76, that was Bethesda Austin, Bethesda Maryland (the creators of TES, FO 3/4 and Starfiled which is the studio most people think of when they say "Bethesda") are the ones that fixed it.
It's the same with every other survival game. You always struggle with basic needs and then, at some point they become 100% irrelevant because you basically will be mass producing food/water. It's a simple progression, you achieve goals and move on to the next step. What's the alternative? Remove it and basically delete "step 1", along with sense of progression and immersion (doesn't it feel good no having to worry about water? Don't you feel satisfaction how far you've gone when you remember your initial struggles?). Somehow keep it relevant for the whole game so it becomes an annoying chore you can never overcome? There's no perfect solution. It was a struggle, a challenge and you are done with it. It's still there, though and it will bite you in your ass if you forget about it (and it's guaranteed you will get too comfortable and forget about it).
Ubisoft have been circling the drain for years already, unaware of their impending doom staring them directly in their eyes. I'll happily sacrifice my Ubisoft account access for a reckoning within the gaming industry. The loss will sting, but better than the alternative.
Thing about Ubisoft and other "AAA" developers are they don't want to invest the money to make the next generation of games. Star wars outlaws for instance is on a 10 year old game engine, starfield is on a 20 year old game engine, total war is running on a 15 year old engine.
A game with absurd difficulty right off the bat that seems to want you to play constantly and defaults you you to open co-op seems a bit more sweaty than i want to deal with.
I have stopped buying AAA titles some time ago, with very few exceptions. I am all-in on indies now. If the big 3 (EA/Activision/Ubisoft) get their act together, stop pumping out sequels, stop forcing micro-transactions into everything, stop making games pay-to-win, stop treating their female staff like objects, stop pillaging their IP for the shareholders and management, stop forcing internet connections for games which do not need it, including games in single-player campaign mode, stop driving the prices for the base games higher and higher, stop pulling out significant chunks of gameplay into DLC, and so on, I *might* buy another one again in the future. I actually liked Far Cry 6. Its ui is improved from 5, it's very pretty with good graphics settings, and the left-handed guns are kind of a Far Cry "thing", at least since Far Cry 4. And it has a great soundtrack and a ghost jaguar. Which more games need. It's certainly not going to win game of the year, but I love first person exploration, and Far Cry is just... it scratches the itch.
Ummm, Dear Mighty Benevolent Youthful (at least compared to me) Lord of the Salt Mines, I know game companies have become confrontational to their player base, but could you explain to this near retirement age what Enemy Access is? (@1:47) 🤣
Regarding the french employees at Ubisoft going on strike. Apparently, the studio directly responsible for Shadows has received word from the top to “Fix AC Shadows or you’re all fired!”, and part of that fixing involves removing all the elements that have pissed everyone off, or as much as they can remove without redoing the game (which is apparently feature complete. It would have to be if it was originally set for a late October release). The people going on strike in protest are upset that these demands to “de-woke” the game are even happening at all, which tells you everything you need to know about these people going on strike. They’re all activists who actually don’t know how to make games, and just want to tick check boxes.
So they basically are in a position where the either release a game that won't sell very well or spending more money to try and fix it. And fixing is always expensive esp. if the original creators are against it and you might have to bring completely new people in. Not a good place to be in but they can't say they haven't been warned.
All I have to say about big game developers in a pickle atm is serves them right. I do feel bad for the large number of employees caught up in all of this.
Jingles, I've run into similar Shadowplay issues, Most often a result of driver issues or if the game is Windowed/Fullscreen. Shadowplay doesn't seem to like it when a game is in Borderless mode and will downright refuse to record or use the instant replay feature then.
I was actually talking with a buddy about how ubisoft is doing so shit last night. And we went and had a gander of what IPs they own the rights to. There's so many great things in that pile that have just been tossed in a corner or had cheap cash grabs for phones done it's no fucking wonder they're going in the shitter.
I will never apologise for genuinely enjoying Starfield. Like Jingles, I recognise it has problems, but they've not gotten in the way of me enjoying it. A lot. Also, I think Bethesda not being a publicly traded company is a good thing. Shareholders suck and are the cause for all the short-sight bullshit in the business world we have to put up with today. Line gotta go up >:(
Not sure if that Rockstar comparison holds water Jingles. I'd say it's safe to say that the GTA playerbase hates the way Rockstar 'encourages' its player base to buy shark cards (in-game inflation each update that makes Venezuela look reasonable), pay for subscriptions to access vehicles you used to be able to buy before they arbitrarily removed them from the game, fails to patch bugs for years (unless the issues might impact shark card sales), etc. You can bet those same people are going to buy and play GTA VI on launch day though.
Bad games is the least of modern gaming's issues. Gamers can forgive bad games. Even find some charm in them. Make them into culture classics. It's so far worse than that.
1. Rip Calipo 2. Games with real time resources are absolutely sh*t. For example it is one thing to get a rental premium tank for a week in WoT, and another to have your credits/gold expire every week.😡 Imagine being able to play at irregular intervals and having to start over every single time😢 I hope you have a great week Jingles!
Pretty much any gaming company or publisher who does business with Sweet Baby inc. needs to rethink their future. And any studio, developer, publisher who does business with Sweet Baby, need to be boycotted. Sweet Baby has publicly said that they want to tear down the entire thing, in the name of DEI. Not to make better games. Not to make more entertaining games. Not to actually improve ANYTHING. They want the "message" to be everything. And as a gamer i don't want that crap. There's enough of that bull crap in everyday life, i don't want it in my escape media too. Sadly, not enough people know about the behind the scenes shenanigans going on. We need people to know about this crap so that they can vote with their wallets.
Well, it is painfully obvious that the developers of the forever winter game failed basic navigation, or have never laid eyes on a compass.....NORTH is zero degrees on a compass, not EAST. Use their compass for navigation and your European vacation ends up being an Antarctic cruise instead.
Well if you DID end up in Antartica, then you compass is really screwed, as Antartica is South, it's the Arctic that is North. On the other hand, at least there would be planty of water in either case.
@@jcorbett9620 The compass is off by 90 degrees, i.e. going true East, as in 90 degrees, plus the 90 degree error makes you follow a course of 180 degrees true, which happens to be due south.

Ummm, Dear Mighty Benevolent Youthful (at least compared to me) Lord of the Salt Mines, I know game companies have become confrontational to their player base, but could you explain to this near retirement age what Enemy Access is? (@1:47) 🤣
Mate if you don't show me the game I will never hear about it lol...I am totally a creature of habit, and schedule. Thanks for your hard work!
I still have many, MANY hours of FRAPS video from Everquest on my HDD. Yes, I'm that old. 🤣
Having Fraps video directories doesn't make one old, just experienced.
All I have to say about big game developers in a pickle atm is serves them right. I do feel bad for the large number of employees caught up in all of this.
Ubisoft needs a lesson since Silent Hunter 5.
Always the optimist ( Maybe the other will learn from it ) Just like they all learned from EA right. Love you always, best with morning Coffee.
Line gotta go up >:(
Fallout 4 best game in the serie. Definitely. And I loved with fallout 1 when it came out, and love the fallout franchise since then.
Probably the recording doesn't work that well because GPU is at 100% constantly.
Bad games is the least of modern gaming's issues.
Gamers can forgive bad games. Even find some charm in them. Make them into culture classics.
It's so far worse than that.
As far as I recall the last good game Bethesda released was DragonAge: Origins- a very serious amount of years ago.
1. Rip Calipo
2. Games with real time resources are absolutely sh*t. For example it is one thing to get a rental premium tank for a week in WoT, and another to have your credits/gold expire every week.😡 Imagine being able to play at irregular intervals and having to start over every single time😢
I hope you have a great week Jingles!
I have a job. I will never play a game that is another one. So, Forever Winter will be a no go, along with Eve Online.
yupe that is "peak" jingles
Talking about dlc, jingles have you played the Dredge DLCs?
Last time Bethesda did something good? Fallout 4: Far Harbour.
i am confused! there is snow everywhere and burning stuff, melt snow=water. isnt it?
Well, it is painfully obvious that the developers of the forever winter game failed basic navigation, or have never laid eyes on a compass.....NORTH is zero degrees on a compass, not EAST. Use their compass for navigation and your European vacation ends up being an Antarctic cruise instead.
I believe the earth’s magnetic field shifted; hence forever winter. So the compass reflects that. I think. 🤗
Well if you DID end up in Antartica, then you compass is really screwed, as Antartica is South, it's the Arctic that is North. On the other hand, at least there would be planty of water in either case.
@@jcorbett9620 Not if the polar ice has melted away
@@jcorbett9620 The compass is off by 90 degrees, i.e. going true East, as in 90 degrees, plus the 90 degree error makes you follow a course of 180 degrees true, which happens to be due south.
in today's episode.... water...
Aaaannd... another game Jingles trick me to buy ...
Last good thing Bethesda ever did was publish, not develop but publish, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus. And that was in 2016
👍👍
Jingles you should really try Generation Zero! Would love to see you play that game 😊👌
Ty for the tip Jingles and since games that force you to play every day are THE WORST “feature” in the industry we now know to avoid Forever Winter like the plague.
I haven't used shadow play I'm a while but I think recording settings cap at 60 fps. I used to have this problem and I had to lock my games fps via a software locl or vsync to 60 fps to match shadowplay recording speed. I don't know of that's the problem you are having but I do hope it helps.
Hey Jingles, Have you tried Action video recording software? I have always found this to be less of a resource hog than some programs. Good video as always keep up the good work.
