Cassidy played a good game that would've won an old school season for sure. The only thing that held her back was not being able to explain herself in depth. The winner always deserves it, so I'm not taking away from Gabler. But a Cassidy win would've made this season way more satisfying.

Performing well in FTC is a HUGE part of the game and can be a deciding factor on whether you win or not. Cass screwed up FTC. Stop with the obsession.

I think Cass could’ve won had she better articulated herself at FTC and really sold it on how everyone that tried to come after her ended up getting the boot. If she could at least own it that she got the ball rolling to get Karla out, she would’ve gotten more votes.

Parvati did nothing in CI and Michele did actually less than nothing in her winning season because she would have been voted out if two people weren't medevac'd. Meanwhile, Cassidy marked Noelle, Sami and Karla and sent the right man to finish Jesse off. Compared to legends (especially Parvati, Cirie and Tony) this means nothing, but in a season where all the aggressive players played themselves out of the game (especially Sami and Karla), the two finalists that received votes were subtle strategists that worked within the existing alliances to further their own goals.
I real réel she is the Parvati of this new era. And maybe her being under-edited and losing will help her be under-estimated when she comes back and she is able to pull off the win
Even better than Parvati is Sarah. Parvati benefitted from the return to a final 2, without it, Cirie will win and not have the legendary status of goddess never to succeed. Sarah played the most brutal winning game ever, I'm shocked she won. Anyway, Cassidy might eventually thank the edit if she wins season 46/50/whatever.

Imo she's arguably Top 5 player of all time.

I'm no Gabler fan and I felt like his win wasn't sold properly in the edit at all. I wanted to Cassidy to take that Final 3 so bad. That being said, for all the women winners unjustly shit on by the fandom for "doing nothing" and their opponents "being robbed", what sort of message do we sent when we say the same thing about the people who WE don't like when they win? We're sort of implying there is a "right" and "wrong" way to play Survivor and arming the misogynistic wing of the fanbase to continue doing their gross shit in the future. We don't like the result or the criterion that it was made with, but we can't be hypocritical and rob Cassidy's loss or the Erikas and Micheles and Natalie Whites wins of their agency. Cassidy was warned the jury would be poisoned against and she doubled down. It's unfair and unsatisfying, but that's part of the game. Cassidy lost for legitimate reasons. I may not like or agree with those reasons but I'm also not on the jury. My say doesn't matter. The winner deserved to win, even when I don't like it. That's the nature of competition.

Cassidy was targeted multiple times but able to win immunity when she needed to. Gabler was never targeted because he was the old guy no one saw as a threat. The jury gave it to him because they were buddies with him, not because he played a great game.
Okay, after watching both videos I'm in shock - Cassidy and Gabler played the exact same kind of subtle game, I don't know why everyone was saying Cassidy was such an edgic lock to win! Probably because of Gabler's awful pre-merge. But then again the fox had some red flags too - two invisible episodes, one of them followed by a UTR episode. Personal information arrived a few episodes after Gabler's. But let's just assume Owen doesn't exist and focus on the two that received votes, alright? Their games are so similar someone should do a spot the picture difference about them. Both are good winners, I rank both slightly below Erika and Maryanne. My favorite before the FTC was Cassidy, but she completely misread the jury. Would I vote for Gabler after his FTC? I don't know, because it's obvious the jurors were bitter, but I can't shake the feeling the vote could be narrower, even a tie leading to Owen giving Cass the million, if only she gave better answers. Who I like better, though? That's Cassidy. Maybe it just comes to the point we're both young. It's so easy to simp her and not just because how beautiful she is. I'm attracted to her personality and her soul.
It was mostly Karla's fault. The argument they had was way more vicious and heavy than shown on TV. Yes I think Cass made the mistake of being the only person cheering when Jesse lost, and I do tend to like Gabler's relaxed game. Their games were not similar at all. Gablers game was mostly right place right time. He actually really didn't make his own game, whereas Cassidy did. Cassidy, though more neutral in confessionals, was actually way more proactive than Gabler was. Gabler was more reactive than proactive. Edgically, Gabler should not have won. This season for sure broke Edgic, so I'm not sure it makes sense to go by Edgic anymore. It doesn't work in modern Survivor. I mean, Gabler annoyed almost every single person he had conversations with. He made several publicly telegraphed social and strategic blunders on live TV. Much of the audience was clearly not meant to root for him. So the editors threw edgic out the window I don't see how he and Cassidy were similar. Cassidy had the obvious winner edit on paper.

I truly believe in a win is a win, so Gabler deserved it. But based on the edit I thought maybe he would win 5-3 at FTC. Cassidy is a good player but by no means was she robbed. Yes she was on the right side of every vote, but she didn't control any of them. She didn't have a big impact on the strategic game outside of being an extra vote for bigger players like Jesse to use. Combine this with her choice not to compete against Jesse at the Final 4, the jury's perception of her game can be seen as very passive and safe.
Gabler showed initiative to target people (like the Ellie vote) and was able to manipulate people into thinking of him as a goat. He also performed very well at the Final Tribal Council. Making the jury laugh, pandering to them, and undermining Cassidy's game when she asked how she persuaded people for a vote. The jury saw Cassidy as a safe player who made moves within a group but did not make moves by herself.
Editors have been doing a really bad job telling the stories since the series returned. I get they're trying to make the outcome more surprising but all 4 wins ending in landslides has caused them to leave some crucial things out. Not so sure why she got blown out like she did. Was she really unlikable to everyone or did people like Gabler more than they showed? I'd rather have the person I'm rooting for lose and understand why, than having them win and having no clue how it happened.
@@itzwakk335 Throughout the game we heard multiple people talk about why Gabler wasn't a threat. He was referred to as a pawn. Cassidy and Owen were both shocked by the outcome for a reason. Not like they were the only ones think this. There's some stuff there about why Cassidy wasn't liked by some people, but not enough to explain why she was blown out by someone who supposedly wasn't respected. I don't recall a single person who thought was guaranteed to vote for Gabler. I'm lead to believe there was stuff we weren't shown intentionally due to it making the result too obvious, or they couldn't show because of conversations at Ponderosa. Like I could see Karla and Jesse bringing in a lot of negativity towards Cass because they were bitter she got them out.
Sami and gabler were close the entire time gabler literally dedicated an hour in a challenge to noelle cody and jesse were in an alliance with gabler that didn't even get shown in the edit because if it did it'd make cassidy look like a dodo in the edit even if she did drive the ryan vote it's RYAN It's easy to see why gabler won and i dont get why people try to push the cass was robbed narrative, her game wasn't bad by any means, but people act like her winning would make the season better, she'd be a mediocre or bottom tier winner if she did win, just like gabler

Story of why something is a blowout makes much more sense when you know how close or despised a player is by the jury. I've had similar problems every season since they started backup. Xander, Mike, Cass and Carolyn were all edited to look like bigger threats than they were. Erica and Gabler got bad winners edits in my eyes. Show clearly wants to keep people guessing who's gonna win, but it hurts the season when they take key stuff out like alliances and relationships. I'd rather go into a ftc knowing 100% who is going to win than being left confused about the results. This is why I prefer smaller juries. Easier to show interactions between them and finalists. Makes more sense for a shorter game to have fewer jurors as well.

She should’ve made fire in retrospect. Seeing Heidi do it in 44 confirmed that. You have to be willing to take risks and her not having a big move sealed it. Gablers resume wasnt much better but he clearly didnt rub anyone the wrong way like Cass mightve, and had his fire moment. She had to anticipate the jury would be salty and she just couldnt read the room properly IMO.

Gabler played a much better game. Cassidy was a follower all through the game. This video just showed that she played a losing game. The only interesting thing is her conffessional on the Geo vote.
She played a solid game, however Jesse, Karla, Gabler, Cody, and Noelle would have beaten her in the final tribal. Her only chance was Owen, plus she didn’t have strong social connections with players going to the jury, poor jury management, questioning Gabler I didn’t like it, it’s the jury asking the questions, and Gabler responding on her move on the Ryan vote, she lost the game period.

Six men won in a row, at least two of them were really not worthy, and I'm not really fond of Tommy or Wendell. Nick was decent and Tony, of course, is Tony. She didn't get to see Maryanne winning, either, though she did see Erika - and how underedited she were. I really don't blame her too much for wanting a woman to win.
Jesse was a flop! He blindsided the one person who would’ve taken him to the final and would’ve wholeheartedly beat in the vote just for shock factor? He put himself in a position where he had to make fire. That’s just bad gameplay. He was also atrocious in challenges. Hey Tj I know I'm late to respond but I just wanted to respond to give you my take, I feel Jesse played a good game because as Gabler said a few times before "It will be hard for you to distinguish you game from Cody since you're seen as such a pair." That was in my mind and I think in Jesse's mind a good reason to get rid of Cody along with the fact that at final 6 Cody was planning on doing a big move on Karla (Cody's plan to bluff playing his idol with Karla and getting rid of her) so if he had been brought to final three by Cody I could see Cody winning. The Jeanine idol play could have also helped Jesse win but quite frankly, I just could not see that being enough for him to win with such a big move Cody was going to make and I feel Cody would be able to pick apart Jesse at final tribal if he was brought to final tribal. This all left Jesse with one choice left to blindside Cody. Now I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, he should have blindsided Cody at the start of merge, that was his biggest mistake because it forced him into fire but at the same time I feel he had a good game move there because he kind of put Cassidy in an position she couldn't escape from, if she went into fire against Jesse maybe she could have won but she was scared to do so because she didn't want Jesse coming back and if she put someone else into fire like Gabler he would come back with even more steam which I feel was enough to win him the game. Plus with the situation he was put in, he could not have made it this far without Cody. His one chance was to blindside him at 6 and deal with the consequences later which nearly worked out for him because if Cassidy went in against he maybe could have won and as I said earlier, even though Jesse lost he was part of the reason Cassidy lost. Now let's get to challenges, winning challenges is not a game move. Sure it keeps you safe and it's cool to say that you won 3 challenges but when the person sitting beside you also has 3 challenge wins and the third person has 1 challenge wins but still won the game because challenges don't really come into play at final tribal, the game is about how you made social bonds and furthered yourself in the game, sure challenge wins help you further yourself but in the end a challenge win is only really useful for a round so you can get the target off your back for next vote or just flat out be safe for a bit, this is also a good time to make game moves if you don't have a target on you but Cassidy just won and made no game moves while safe or just any game moves at all. I know we're talking about Jesse and Cassidy but a good example of what Cassidy could have done while safe was what Gabler did. After the merge challenge he was safe and he made a big move and blindsided Ellie. Another reason I feel Jesse is a good player is because whilst he was barely ever safe wince he was on a losing tribe and he never won immunity. That may sound strange but he was able to make quiet moves for the early game since he was never safe but when he knew he was safe was when he made his moves, for example Cody blindside. Now that I'm done talking about Jesse I'll just talk about how TERRIBLE Cassidy's game was. She never made any moves. The biggest move she could take credit for was the Geo blindside but she can't really take credit for that since she wasn't even the driving force in the blindside and there were many people behind the scenes in control of the blindside for example Karla. She also took credit for other people's moves which you can see at final tribal when Ryan calls her out when she said that she was the reason Ryan was voted out even though that was Gabler, Cody, and Jesse that did that move, and the fact that the Ryan blindside was just such a small move for Jesse, Cody, and Gabler but was the biggest move for Cassidy AND IT WASN'T EVEN HER MOVE shows that she just was not a good player this season. Now the last thing I want to touch on is how ignorant Cassidy was, she was showed many times by Karla and Jesse in the finale episode saying that she couldn't really take credit for moves because it was other people but she still continued to ignore them. Parvati did nothing in CI and Michele did actually less than nothing in her winning season because she would have been voted out if two people weren't medevac'd. Meanwhile, Cassidy marked Noelle, Sami and Karla and sent the right man to finish Jesse off. Compared to legends (especially Parvati, Cirie and Tony) this means nothing, but in a season where all the aggressive players played themselves out of the game (especially Sami and Karla), the two finalists that received votes were subtle strategists that worked within the existing alliances to further their own goals.

People like to downplay her as a player due to her political beliefs, but she was legitimately one fire making challenge away from being the next 2 time winner and the arguable GOAT (Greatest of All Time, not survivor goat lol) and she's also had a consistent game each time she's played, doing well in the pre-merge and at least making the jury every time she's played. Imo she's arguably Top 5 player of all time.

I'm no Gabler fan and I felt like his win wasn't sold properly in the edit at all. I wanted to Cassidy to take that Final 3 so bad. That being said, for all the women winners unjustly shit on by the fandom for "doing nothing" and their opponents "being robbed", what sort of message do we sent when we say the same thing about the people who WE don't like when they win? We're sort of implying there is a "right" and "wrong" way to play Survivor and arming the misogynistic wing of the fanbase to continue doing their gross shit in the future. We don't like the result or the criterion that it was made with, but we can't be hypocritical and rob Cassidy's loss or the Erikas and Micheles and Natalie Whites wins of their agency. Cassidy was warned the jury would be poisoned against and she doubled down. It's unfair and unsatisfying, but that's part of the game.
Cassidy lost for legitimate reasons. I may not like or agree with those reasons but I'm also not on the jury. My say doesn't matter. The winner deserved to win, even when I don't like it. That's the nature of competition.

Gabler played a good game BUT CASS PLAYED WAY BETTER! She was on the chopping block SO many times and she managed to avoid going home because of her social game, placement in the game and clutch immunity wins. SOOOO ROBBED!!

Okay, after watching both videos I'm in shock - Cassidy and Gabler played the exact same kind of subtle game, I don't know why everyone was saying Cassidy was such an edgic lock to win! Probably because of Gabler's awful pre-merge. But then again the fox had some red flags too - two invisible episodes, one of them followed by a UTR episode. Personal information arrived a few episodes after Gabler's. But let's just assume Owen doesn't exist and focus on the two that received votes, alright? Their games are so similar someone should do a spot the picture difference about them. Both are good winners, I rank both slightly below Erika and Maryanne. My favorite before the FTC was Cassidy, but she completely misread the jury. Would I vote for Gabler after his FTC? I don't know, because it's obvious the jurors were bitter, but I can't shake the feeling the vote could be narrower, even a tie leading to Owen giving Cass the million, if only she gave better answers.
Who I like better, though? That's Cassidy. Maybe it just comes to the point we're both young. It's so easy to simp her and not just because how beautiful she is. I'm attracted to her personality and her soul.
It was mostly Karla's fault. The argument they had was way more vicious and heavy than shown on TV. Yes I think Cass made the mistake of being the only person cheering when Jesse lost, and I do tend to like Gabler's relaxed game. I think Gabler 100% deserved his win, but Karla was a jerk to Cass and she poisoned the Jury against her
Their games were not similar at all. Gablers game was mostly right place right time. He actually really didn't make his own game, whereas Cassidy did. Cassidy, though more neutral in confessionals, was actually way more proactive than Gabler was. Gabler was more reactive than proactive.
Edgically, Gabler should not have won. This season for sure broke Edgic, so I'm not sure it makes sense to go by Edgic anymore. It doesn't work in modern Survivor. I mean, Gabler annoyed almost every single person he had conversations with. He made several publicly telegraphed social and strategic blunders on live TV. Much of the audience was clearly not meant to root for him. So the editors threw edgic out the window

I truly believe in a win is a win, so Gabler deserved it. But based on the edit I thought maybe he would win 5-3 at FTC. Cassidy is a good player but by no means was she robbed. Yes she was on the right side of every vote, but she didn't control any of them. She didn't have a big impact on the strategic game outside of being an extra vote for bigger players like Jesse to use. Combine this with her choice not to compete against Jesse at the Final 4, the jury's perception of her game can be seen as very passive and safe.
Neither did Gabler.
But why do fans think you have to be a big strategic player to win? That has never mattered in Survivor.

Gabler showed initiative to target people (like the Ellie vote) and was able to manipulate people into thinking of him as a goat. He also performed very well at the Final Tribal Council. Making the jury laugh, pandering to them, and undermining Cassidy's game when she asked how she persuaded people for a vote. The jury saw Cassidy as a safe player who made moves within a group but did not make moves by herself.
Editors have been doing a really bad job telling the stories since the series returned. I get they're trying to make the outcome more surprising but all 4 wins ending in landslides has caused them to leave some crucial things out. Not so sure why she got blown out like she did. Was she really unlikable to everyone or did people like Gabler more than they showed? I'd rather have the person I'm rooting for lose and understand why, than having them win and having no clue how it happened.

@@itzwakk335 Throughout the game we heard multiple people talk about why Gabler wasn't a threat. He was referred to as a pawn. Cassidy and Owen were both shocked by the outcome for a reason. Not like they were the only ones think this. There's some stuff there about why Cassidy wasn't liked by some people, but not enough to explain why she was blown out by someone who supposedly wasn't respected. I don't recall a single person who thought was guaranteed to vote for Gabler. I'm lead to believe there was stuff we weren't shown intentionally due to it making the result too obvious, or they couldn't show because of conversations at Ponderosa. Like I could see Karla and Jesse bringing in a lot of negativity towards Cass because they were bitter she got them out.

@@itzwakk335 Cody, Jesse and Gabler alliance being edited out is a great example of my issue. Story of why something is a blowout makes much more sense when you know how close or despised a player is by the jury. I've had similar problems every season since they started backup. Xander, Mike, Cass and Carolyn were all edited to look like bigger threats than they were. Erica and Gabler got bad winners edits in my eyes. Show clearly wants to keep people guessing who's gonna win, but it hurts the season when they take key stuff out like alliances and relationships. I'd rather go into a ftc knowing 100% who is going to win than being left confused about the results.
This is why I prefer smaller juries. Easier to show interactions between them and finalists. Makes more sense for a shorter game to have fewer jurors as well.

She should’ve made fire in retrospect. Seeing Heidi do it in 44 confirmed that. You have to be willing to take risks and her not having a big move sealed it. Gablers resume wasnt much better but he clearly didnt rub anyone the wrong way like Cass mightve, and had his fire moment. She had to anticipate the jury would be salty and she just couldnt read the room properly IMO.

This is untrue. Post season interviews actually explicitly stated she was one of the biggest threats to win the game.

- She instantly takes offense when someone seems to vote for her. She has a hard time brushing something like this off and moving on.

Jesse was a flop! He blindsided the one person who would’ve taken him to the final and would’ve wholeheartedly beat in the vote just for shock factor? He put himself in a position where he had to make fire. That’s just bad gameplay. He was also atrocious in challenges. Hey Tj I know I'm late to respond but I just wanted to respond to give you my take, I feel Jesse played a good game because as Gabler said a few times before "It will be hard for you to distinguish you game from Cody since you're seen as such a pair." That was in my mind and I think in Jesse's mind a good reason to get rid of Cody along with the fact that at final 6 Cody was planning on doing a big move on Karla (Cody's plan to bluff playing his idol with Karla and getting rid of her) so if he had been brought to final three by Cody I could see Cody winning. The Jeanine idol play could have also helped Jesse win but quite frankly, I just could not see that being enough for him to win with such a big move Cody was going to make and I feel Cody would be able to pick apart Jesse at final tribal if he was brought to final tribal. This all left Jesse with one choice left to blindside Cody. Now I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, he should have blindsided Cody at the start of merge, that was his biggest mistake because it forced him into fire but at the same time I feel he had a good game move there because he kind of put Cassidy in an position she couldn't escape from, if she went into fire against Jesse maybe she could have won but she was scared to do so because she didn't want Jesse coming back and if she put someone else into fire like Gabler he would come back with even more steam which I feel was enough to win him the game. Plus with the situation he was put in, he could not have made it this far without Cody. His one chance was to blindside him at 6 and deal with the consequences later which nearly worked out for him because if Cassidy went in against he maybe could have won and as I said earlier, even though Jesse lost he was part of the reason Cassidy lost. Now let's get to challenges, winning challenges is not a game move. Sure it keeps you safe and it's cool to say that you won 3 challenges but when the person sitting beside you also has 3 challenge wins and the third person has 1 challenge wins but still won the game because challenges don't really come into play at final tribal, the game is about how you made social bonds and furthered yourself in the game, sure challenge wins help you further yourself but in the end a challenge win is only really useful for a round so you can get the target off your back for next vote or just flat out be safe for a bit, this is also a good time to make game moves if you don't have a target on you but Cassidy just won and made no game moves while safe or just any game moves at all. I know we're talking about Jesse and Cassidy but a good example of what Cassidy could have done while safe was what Gabler did. After the merge challenge he was safe and he made a big move and blindsided Ellie. Another reason I feel Jesse is a good player is because whilst he was barely ever safe wince he was on a losing tribe and he never won immunity. That may sound strange but he was able to make quiet moves for the early game since he was never safe but when he knew he was safe was when he made his moves, for example Cody blindside. Now that I'm done talking about Jesse I'll just talk about how TERRIBLE Cassidy's game was. She never made any moves. The biggest move she could take credit for was the Geo blindside but she can't really take credit for that since she wasn't even the driving force in the blindside and there were many people behind the scenes in control of the blindside for example Karla. She also took credit for other people's moves which you can see at final tribal when Ryan calls her out when she said that she was the reason Ryan was voted out even though that was Gabler, Cody, and Jesse that did that move, and the fact that the Ryan blindside was just such a small move for Jesse, Cody, and Gabler but was the biggest move for Cassidy AND IT WASN'T EVEN HER MOVE shows that she just was not a good player this season. Now the last thing I want to touch on is how ignorant Cassidy was, she was showed many times by Karla and Jesse in the finale episode saying that she couldn't really take credit for moves because it was other people but she still continued to ignore them.
