    Awesome news. Are you able to have it renewed if you go out of Thailand just before the 60 days end and fly back in? Cheers!

      Hi Dean, yes, you are allowed to enter on visa extensions twice in a calendar year. So, you can definitely re-enter and get a second 60-day visa extension. And, if you don't get a warning when you re-enter, you can probably continue to re-enter until you get a warning. When re-entering, it's best to stay out of Thailand for a few days before re-entering. Of course, you can extend by 30 days without leaving the country by getting a visa exemption at any local immigration office. th-cam.com/video/2Nz3GaUhaQM/w-d-xo.html. enjoy, Bob

      Hi Rougemoonchild... I just returned to Thailand from a 2 month visit back home to the US. It was wonderful seeing friends, but returning to Thailand for me is like returning to paradise. I have a retirement visa now so staying here is a lot easier than it used to be with tourist visas or exemptions... so, I know that you will really enjoy your visit to the Land of Smiles... Bob

    That's great news, Robert, thanks! Let's hope the roll-out goes smoothly with no changes or reversals from Thai Immigration.

    Hi Robert, thank you for your videos. I have a question. I will be coming to Bangkok in August on a visa exemption from the USA for 3 days then flying to Luang Prabang and then back to Bangkok a week later. I will enter Bangkok for a 3rd time on the visa exemption at that point. Do you know if I can get a re-entry permit on a visa exemption? As I don't want to use so many exemptions in 1 year. Or do you think 3 or 4 exemptions a year won't cause me any problems? Thanks for your advice.

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mark, you get 2 visa exemptions per calendar year. They may warn you when you re-enter the second time that you can't re-enter again until the next calendar year. If you don't get the warning, you can continue to enter until you get the warning. Once you get the warning, your next entry can be denied. So, they won't prevent you from entering until they have given you a warning. This is not official, just what people have experienced. So, the official rule is twice per calendar year, but in reality (unofficial), they will give you a warning before they actually deny the re-entry.... when you actually get the warning varies from case to case. It's hard to predict... hope that helps... Bob

      yes, Vick, my understanding is the the 30 day extension hasn't changed, so you can get 90 days from your exemption... very good news all around... Bob

    What's the point of a multiple entry tourist visa then?) I just applied for one. No changes? Who knows?

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question Alex! With an METV OR with visa exemption, you still have to leave Thailand to do a border run every 90 days (assuming that you get a 30 day extension). In concept, when you enter on a visa exemption, the officer can question your entry. You might be warned not to enter again until the next calendar year. The rules can be arbitrary so using visa exemptions has an element of uncertainty. However, I just got a comment from a subscriber who had an SETV who WAS questioned on entry. So, I don't think this is a strong argument that there's a difference.
      I think the real value of the METV is now for someone who wants to spend MORE than (approx.) 270 days in Thailand. The METV can give you almost 270 days in Thailand, but when it expires, you can use visa exemptions to re-enter Thailand until you get a warning. So, I'd say that's the answer. If you're planning to spend up to 9 months in Thailand, you can probably save yourself some money and effort by just using visa exemptions. You can stay until you get a warning when you re-enter. But, if you're planning to spend longer than around 270 days in Thailand, you can do your first 8 months on an METV and then you can start using visa exemptions. Eventually you'll get a warning when you re-enter, but you'll probably get more than a year in Thailand all together. This is much more time than you would get just using visa exemptions.
      So, I think the real advantage of the METV is for people who want to stay for more than 270 days. They can get the first 8 months or so on the METV, and when it expires, switch to using visa exemptions. This allows you to spend a long time in Thailand without returning to your home country.
      A really good question! ...all the best... Bob

    Thanks Robert! What if you are currently in Thailand on the “old” 30 day visa exemption? Do I have to leave Thailand and come back to get the 60 (+30) exemption?

    • @robertsultan2550

      Hi Wish, yes, you would need to leave and come back. I always find that Penang, Malaysia is a nice place to go for a few days, as is Luang Prabang, Laos. Lots of good choices... all the best, Bob

    I have one question. Is this 60-day visa free multiple entrance? Thanks

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Henry. The concept of 'multi-entry' doesn't really apply to the 60 day visa exemption. If you have a visa exemption, you leave Thailand, and then you return, you get a NEW visa exemption, so it's not really 'multi-entry'. Immigration isn't clear about how many times you can get a visa exemption. Generally, it's safe to keep getting visa exemptions until immigration gives you a warning. After they give you a warning, you need to wait until the new calendar year before you use another visa exemption. I hope that answers the question... but let me know if it doesn't... all the best... Bob

    I think that there is increasing pressure on the Thai Government to encourage and increase tourism because of other economic problems the country is having. Up here in Ayutthaya Honda just announced it was permanently closing the factory here. Many other factories have been closing and a lot of people are really struggling to survive. Making it easier for foreigners to come and spend money can offset some of the other problems. The Thai economy is not doing very well right now.

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Philipp, I did not know about the closing of the Honda factory, but I was aware of that the manufacturing sector has been struggling. I don't know why exactly. It seems that Thailand would have a good workforce for manufacturing. If you have any insight into the reasons, I'd be interested. But I think the Thai tourist sector still has room to grow. This is a good move on the part of the Thai government. I certainly noticed that, this year, there have been a lot more tourists in low season. In Patong, hotels that were shut during covid are being renovated, but this is just an observation, I don't have statistics... all the best... Bob

    Hi i got a qeustion since 15 july we can stay for 60 days and extend for 30 days without a visa right? if so is there still any point to reqeust a tourist visa before my arrival

    • @robertsultan2550
      @robertsultan2550  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Hunt... If you are just planning to stay 90 days, there's no point in getting a Single-Entry Tourist Visa instead of using a visa exemption.
      If you were planning to stay longer, there's a small advantage. The number of exemptions you can get in a calendar year is limited (but it's not clear exactly what that limit is). So, the visa would allow you to save one visa exemption so you could use it later on in your stay. ...hope that helps... Bob
