    You're the reason I started sewing again after I got fat. I didn't think I could do it bc plus size sewing is SUCH a different skill than straight size sewing imo, but now I sew buckets of my own clothes. You're amazing, just thought you should know 💜

    All that trouble fitting shows in the delightful finished result - a lesson for us all! Liked the tip for a crisp iron-on interfacing .. uh .. facing. 🥰

      Yes I think it was worth it after all! ....you have no idea how many times I recorded that interfacing/facing clip. I gave up 😝 Glad it made sense.

    Your dress looks fabulous! I am a novice sewer. I've not been happy with the fit with the things I've made so far (Hinterland dress, Huon dress), so I bought Ahead of the Curve. I'd love to see you make the Kersoe top from it.

    I just bought this book so it was great to see your thoughts about it! I am excited to try her method for a narrow shoulder adjustment because I have mixed results with just cutting a bit off the side😆. Your method for finishing the facing by sewing on the interfacing was genius, Can't wait to see more!!!

    My initial thought was that you need a smaller size .. maybe with a larger cup size if necessary.

    • @swaters3462
      @swaters3462 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is what I had to do. It is so much easier to adjust bust/waist than to mess with the shoulders and sleeve.

  • @creepyed
    @creepyed ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A few things... OMG what a cute dress and the ice storm vignette is so gorgeous!!! What's a waist stay and how does that work? Also, appreciation for the color matching box of La Croix under the dishes cabinet 😂. It takes dedication to shop food packaging in a color palette 😝.

    • @ashleymainmakes
      @ashleymainmakes  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly the Limoncello La Croix is my favourite flavor it just works out 😝. A waist stay is sort of an old fashioned technique where you tack in a piece of ribbon at the waist and it has its own seperate hook and eye and you are able to have it take some of the weight of the skirt so it doesnt strain the dress and prevents it from stretching out. Its useful when you have big/long skirts.

    • @creepyed
      @creepyed ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ashleymainmakes so interesting about the waist stay. I'll have to look it up for some implementation notes. Thanks for the info!!

    Hi Ashley, thank you for this... which are your fav cashmerette patterns? Did you try the pants ( trousers) in the book?

    • @ashleymainmakes
      @ashleymainmakes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably the roseclair even though it was a lot of work and the turner dress. The first time I made a turner dress I was like, this is what it looks like if something is designed for me.
      I havent tried out the pants yet, no. I am not a big pants person. Eventually I will make some.

    I just found your channel, you did a great job! Very detailed. Dress looks great. Is that book just for plus size?

    • @ashleymainmakes
      @ashleymainmakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is! It goes down to a size 12, or a bust 40 in Cashmerette.

  • @susandreyer9019
    @susandreyer9019 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Did you have to edit the top of the sleeves to fit the new shoulder? I don’t see that in the video.

    • @ashleymainmakes
      @ashleymainmakes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didnt, but I think I should have added some more to the sleeve cap. I think thats what is causing the slight pulling
