- I can’t exactly tell whether this is a replacement or a modernisation. It seemed like big work, though, as when I came on Christmas Day 2018, the right lift was still bordered up. Anyway, this 5500 (or 6500) not only has the UK voice (which is rare enough for NZ 5500’s), it has the FULL UK VOICE featuring door & directional announcements!! The only other places that has/had the full UK voice was Mt Ruapehu (which have now actually been taken out), and Ao Tawhiti School In Christchurch. (Interestingly enough, all of them are 5500’s which don’t normally have the UK voice lol!) And now this lift has it which is nice! This elevator grants access to the Rydges airport hotel for the people with big luggages and stuff. The right lift is for public access, but the left lift is staff only and locked off. Although it does have the exact same configuration as the public elevator. I know because the doors opened before and I took a look inside. Interestingly enough, this elevator has Linea external indicators, but FI GS internal indicators - why they couldn’t have just gone for full Linea 100/300 inside I don’t know, but this is nice too, I guess! Unfortunately call cancel doesn’t work in this lift… The door motor sound is very audible and the doors open very slowly so you get a good 3-4 seconds of listening to the “WHIRRRRRRR” of the door motor! Notice how half of the down arrow has been chipped off of both call buttons on L2 lol!
🥧 Today is Pi Day, people! Comment below how many digits of π you know. And it’s okay if it’s just 3.14!

They're probably replacements, seems that none of the original elements remain. The FI GS indicator inside might be a cost thing, as 3300s do the same thing.
Yeah, you could be right. And with regards to the indicator, upon closer inspection, it appears to be an FI GS indicator _on a flush-mounted Linea 100 COP._ So it’s not FI GS at all - it’s just the FI GS indicator in the Linea 100 frame. I think someone may have pointed it out once on another video. Now come to think of it, all 5500’s with FI GS indicators in NZ use a Linea 100 COP.
interesting that the buttons don't light up white when not selected
Yeah. Although in NZ, FI GS indicators-whether they’re programmed on an actual FI GS COP or a Linea 100 COP-will always be paired up with non-illuminating buttons, I think.
