I'm a collector and a huge James King fan so I have the full recording on LP and on CD. This was originally intended as a second studio Butterfly for Anna Moffo, but she ended up not doing it. Maria Chiara was hired and did a great job. The draw for me, of course, was King, who also recorded a wonderful "Samson et Dalila" with Christa Ludwig for this same label and with the same conductor and orchestra. Both operas were recorded by Eurodisc, which also later rereleased them on CD. The Eurodisc CDs can be hard to find. However, the Eurodisc opera catalogue was later owned by RCA, which did their own CD rereleases of operas in that catalogue. The catalogue now belongs to Sony, which has not done its own newer rereleases. Used CD copies of the RCA rerelease can still be found online.
