    Erik had just battled cancer when singing this. You should listen to his version of All by myself. It is even more stunning.

    Erik voice is a gift for all of us. He has a vocal coach. When he was going through his chemo, he still kept singing. He had a bone marrow transplant a couple of years ago. 7 months later he was asked to be lead singer for Skid Row. He left Skid Row this year to keep a promise he made to himself to have his health come first. We are so blessed that he is doing so well. Loved your reaction.

    Erik is phenomenal, and he can sings just about anything. A couple of weeks ago he released a cover of Johnny Cashs Gods gonna cut you down.
    Erik is a genuine easygoing guy and I'm sure he would appreciate the discussion.

    King Erik👏👏🙏 To actually do this like he does, it takes so much more than vocal range and power do pull this off and that is passion and SOUL and that sets him aside from the rest of them in my book! He's just born with it ❤

    Welcome back and thanks for reacting to Erik. He’s such a talented singer and he has so many great covers. His cover of Black Sabbath’s Headless cross are amazing and shows a different side of his vocals. Erik won Swedish Idol some years back, and was also the vocalist in Skid row until he stepped down to take care of his health. He also had his band HEAT, and was also the vocalist of New Horizon with Jona Tee. Jona Tee plays a lot of the instruments in Eriks covers, and does he does the mix, master and production too. 😀🇸🇪

    The true beauty of this song is Dolly Parten wrote it not as a romantic love song but as a love of Porter Wagoner who had her on his show for so many years and shecwas going out on her own. Real true love of one artist for another. Eric hit it perfectly.❤❤❤❤❤

    Even listen to him do Mariah Carey's Without You, these two covers are two of the best I'll seen and heard lately (TH-cam). In 2009, Erik won Swedish Idol and performed the specially written song Higher in the final. On March 23, 2022, it was announced by Eddie Trunk that Grönwall is replacing ZP Theart as the lead singer of Skid Row. In March 2024, Erik announced that he was leaving Skid Row for health reasons after being diagnosed with leukemia.

    Every human being on the planet will have tension in the throat area while shaping a B4 into a "you" vowel with chest voice lol

    • @grieverproductions2022
      @grieverproductions2022  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not necessarily and not the way he does. Singers do what they can to avoid that tension for longevity of the voice and there are ways around putting tension on that area 😊

    • @sandytz123
      @sandytz123 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@grieverproductions2022 He does really take care of his voice and has been working with a vocal coach for the past 15 years to ensure the longevity of his career which is probably why his vocal range has even improved the older he got.
      I don't think he is straining his voice but its more likely those tendons are more visible due to him being too thin with no subcutaneous fat in his body, specifically in the face and neck which he mostly lost as a result of his chemo treatment.
      Even when he is not belting or singing in his upper register, you could still see those tendons. Just check the beginning of his without you cover for example where he is singing softly and those tendons are pretty visible. I hope you get to interview Erik, and maybe you can ask him about that 😉

    Erik also just sang on the UFO song Mother Mary with Slash and Michael Schenker on Michael Schenkers UFO covers album. Great voice and a great guy too. Erik is absolutely a phenomenal vocalist. Erik uses a vocal coach and does vocal exercises before each show, something other vocalists who have been singing for years never did and now it shows. You have to take care of your instrument, but being a vocal coach I know you know that.

    You do know that before he could join skid row and sing lead (they begged him even if they didn't know he would survive) he had to re train his voice after looking death in the eye.. Learn good history!

      @@grieverproductions2022 Yes Erik survived leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant five months before joining Skid Row. He joined even though personally I don't think he was quite ready. The road and being up all the time and traveling back and forth took a toll on his body and after two years he had to step down to concentrate on his health. He is fine, but traveling was getting too much for him. He revived Skid Row and I stll wish he was with them, but understandable. I still have the latest album with him on it, The Gang's all Here to listen to.

  • @BlueKreek

    In reference to the strain you talked about, one thing I noticed is that he doesn’t seem to have the posture and support say Dan Vasc has (I use him as an example because he has excellent posture and support) and he doesn’t ever have that kind of strain. Is this possibly a reason why?

    • @grieverproductions2022
      @grieverproductions2022  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Honestly maybe. The body goes through a lot when we sing and it could be one of the contributing factors for sure. It's easiest to put it down to individual voices.have individual needs realistically 😊

    Ok this is the last Erik cover I'm going to try out. He did a great job on the Animals, "House of the Rising Song". Not so good on Eric Carmen's "All by Myself". You can't just take a song and sing it. You have to be in the head space the writer was in when they wrote it. You have to convey the feelings they wrote into every word, lyric, melody they put in the song. You hit on the strain it looks like he is under, putting his vocals thru, when hitting the high notes. You don't see it as much when you listen to someone like the lead singer of Disturbed, David Draiman (also classically trained). So anyway, as amazing as his vocal range is, he misses the mark on conveying the emotion intended in the song (imho).

      I love the interruptions, I am here for your opinion, expertise and view, this is a reaction, commentary thing after all, if I wantes just the song I would listen to the original video so I would say keep doing it the way you did it, it feels more natural when the reaction is happening immediately when you had the reaction. Love your commentary, genuine input and interesting thoughts, separates a great reaction video from someone who just sits there and smiles.
