He looked me dead in the eye and asked me "Well, it's going to dampen your hours, you got a choice, school or your *career* Um sir you can't make me choose my college stuff *over a job at wal-mart you prickly shit*
Sounds like if or when the manager was in college themselves they made the wrong decision and chose Wal Mart over education. Now that person is trying to bully another into that vortex to make themselves feel better

Maaaaaaaan, never forget when I left Wal-mart.....Secured a job, but didn't start for a week....I literally did nothing that entire week. I cursed at managers, showed up late, would disappear for over an hour on my shift, got caught playing video games in electronics and made fake P.A.'s about sales that I completely made up.....Last day there I walked into manager's office and gave to store manager a good lecture about his bullshit behavior. Funny thing is despite all that, they never threatened to fire me. Throughout the two years I worked there attempting to be a decent employee, my job was threatened at least three separate times over minor mistakes.
it's pretty fucking weird, i'll be honest. I never worked at wal-mart, but I've done work for many other places, and the experience is usually the same all throughout: if you're a good employee, every little fuck up will get you a scolding, and if you're a shitty employee, no one will even give a shit. It even angered me at my first job, because I would show up ~10 minutes late one day or I'd be insanely sick and need to call out, and the manager would act like it's the fucking end of the world and would scold me and threaten me and do all sorts of insane shit, but then the employees that never did anything would just no call no show every other day, come to work smoking weed in the back, etc., and the managers could not care less. Obviously I realize now that it's because the managers NEED good employees there, and me calling out or doing whatever really threatens the integrity of the store more-so than someone who never does anything showing up late/not at all... but I always wondered why they were never replaced. I should also mention that I never let the managers just abuse me freely, I would always start giving shit back to them, and I've gotten into way too many arguments in my day exposing shitty managers for how awful they are at their jobs... good times
i never had a clue what i wanted to do with my life so i worked retail, and i hate retail and customers so much it pushed me to enroll to a trade school LOL
Had an assistant manager at Walmart tell me not to ‘flunk out of college’ when I left to go to university. Everyone else was happy for me but this one guy had to be a tool about it. Saw him years later and he was an assistant manager at OfficeMax and I was buying some copy paper. I said, ‘hey, I took your advice and didn’t flunk out of college, now get me some 8 1/2x14.’

That manager was just jealous that they were getting out of Walmart and that manager would still be stuck there. Anyone can get out of a job, its up to them if they want to do so or not. Nothing will change unless you do something about it and remain miserable and stuck where your at.

@@godslove7928 I understand what your saying because you have to hope your degree fields are in demand, but at the same time, that manager would soundws bitter because that employee is moving on to college and making something of themselves while the manager is stuck at Walmart and don't to find something else. As a result, some managers are there for years just like employees and are just miserable and you can see it in their eyes when you shop. I was like that doing apparel and then later on in maintenance doing janitorial cleaning. Maintenance was the ABSOLUTE worst with those fecal bomb explosions and piss on the floor. I could go on and on with my maintenance stories, but you get the idea.
Whenever I get frustrated with my current job I always stop and think I could always go to work at Walmart then I wake up and a calm settles over me and I realize my current job is not that bad at all
One reason people stay in Walmart so long(as hourly) is because its essentially an easy job, and generally management wants to keep you in your current role...until they get promoted or move on. The second reason is many are chasing a promotion and slick managers really know how to "dangle the carrot" in front of you for as long as possible. The third reason is many Walmart associates are thinking about leaving as it always comes in AOS(associate opinion survey), but the reality is they are not qualified to find better jobs; so they get stuck in Walmart.
This is what happened to me, I just grew to accept Wal-Mart as a career and not a job. I'm 33 and while I have time to go to college again, I'm not taking that financial risk again. I failed college years ago and I tried my hardest. I got laid off from my IT job a few years back. I work 70 hours a week here and grew to end loving my job, even if I am not making tons of money. I ended up meeting my wife here, she's in her mid 40s but together we are able to live pretty well. I might not be qualified for anything better, but I can still enjoy life.
Now, now - even I myself, questioned why Eric was not here in this video but while smoking my high grade medicinal cannabis it's still FantaVision and to give it a chance. I'm glad I did because I lit another cannabis cigarette and laughed a long eith you, Fanta. While I miss Eric it was great to see a fresh face and as always thank you so much for making my day a Fanta-Tastic Day!!! ~Red

It felt like that scene in Shawshank Redemption where the guy had to crawl through the tunnel filled with sewage shit and who knows what else, but it was 10 times worse.

I’m about to complete 6 months and got promoterd to dm already(started as a cashier) then again I have a high tolerance to stress and rude ppl. Idk man, store managers make bank and there’s always the concept that “the grass is always greener” present everywhere no matter where u work. As I’m finishing my degree , if I get the opportunity to be a store manager grinding out a few more years after obtaining my degree I think it’s a decent payoff/sacrifice
Its scary to see so many Walmart associates in the stores with 10,15, 20 year badges, can you imagine to work such a large corporation for so many years and only be doing a job that pays slightly above minimum wage.
I had the fear I’d be stuck working the shitty pizza place I was at, then I got a job as a paint preppier at a body shop and finally felt like a human being again

I was a full-time Wal-Mart cart pusher from September 2020- a week before thanksgiving of that same year, and ever since I have had to help out on carts every now and then when I was the ipad counter for and customer host.
I'm currently In that mentality right now, walmart's my first job and I'm going to make 4 years in March, I'm really wanting to do something different but feel stuck because it seems so difficult to get a better job with this trapped mindset.
My grandfather works at Walmart and work there the day it opened. He hates it now. Now he has to find what is in stock for people who phone to check and works cash sometimes. He used to work at a clothing store where he would fit suits then it closed down. Soon he will have the 15 year badge
That's depressing. Show your grandfather much love because I'm sure he is thinking about you whenever he is working at Walmart. Spend the most time with him most importantly.

I worked at Walmart while in college. My boss in electronics had a great office job with the lower company and got laid off. He took Walmart to me the lights on while he found a replacement job and ten years later; there he was. He is a bright guy too. That is always my biggest fear. Having to go back.
And, i went to Walmart today and im now friends with the electronics manager... he says that he is the only one in electronics today that didnt call in sick, and hes also covering photo and crafts.

I'm doing everything i can to start a job in the career i love. Just got back from volunteering abroad which will hopefully get me closer.
I have no idea, and it's really frustrating me. I've turned off all the automatic settings I can find, but it keeps doing it. Need to look into it more.
Honestly I feel the same rn. I work for a good company but I don’t wanna be working there for a long time. My dream is to graduate from college and go to work in a computer company. ie as Microsoft or apple or google. But it’s been difficult. I have good grades but finding jobs that will take me in as I am rn is difficult for even they say they only want students. Unlike an internship they will pay you. Even finding internships is difficult.
Hey Fantavision! My QFC (Kroger for all y’all that aren’t in Washington state) store has a family dynamic and that does help with work. Especially knowing that both my FES’ and managers have my back. Did you find that any retail places you worked at have a family dynamic or something similar? Yes, you can use this for a video if you’d like.

My time at Target was an interesting experience. I found my career in cooking and I now work a full time cooking job which I love.
