    Thanks Rob - much easier than the way I've been struggling with.

    You publish lessons faster than I learn them! Still struggeling with Big love, but that (easier) one will certainly be the next. Many thanks!

    Got to be the most natural and easy to follow guitar lessons on TH-cam. Really feels like you having a 1:1 lesson

    Great Lesson Rob and a great song, I just truly believe that the way these songs were recorded and mastered gave them that magical warm sound: yeah they were slightly speed up or slowed down in some cases but there’s something magical about recordings like this, recorded to Tape and manually mixing it like they did back then with no auto tune or tricks just very talented people who could do it ❤️⭐️🌞

      Yes, I agree. All my early records were sped up a quarter tone. (Half a fret). I sound like Mickey Mouse on one or two of them. 🤣

    Yet again I discover that I have been making my life much more complicated than necessary. If only fixing the non-guitar based parts of my life was as easy as watching one of Rob’s videos… 😅

    Good lesson. I usually play it in the style of Jose Feliciano's version. Many great songs with similar progression like I guess Don't fear the Reaper and All along the watchtower so it's a great song for beginners to practice. Another great version of California Dreaming is by Baby Huey, that's a really funky one. Cheers again Rob

    Thanks Rob. Another great lesson. Always struggled with the intro till now. Would you consider doing a lesson on how yo play Mrs Robinson? I really struggle with all the twiddly bits between the verses.

    I know it’s easier to sing like that with but the original had the capo I believe on the fourth fret, which sounds more like it for being able to teach it accurately.

      Standard tuning for this one as I can’t sing it capoed at fret 4. All the same shapes though. ✌️

    I don’t understand problems with Fs. I learned guitar from Mel Bay books because I lived in the outback of Wyoming and self taught. By the time I was in my Jr year in HS I was in a bigger town and was in a band.

    Appreciate your videos and taking time out to instruct, but this should not have to be about whether you could sing with the original which I cannot and probably would have the apple lower but it should be about teaching it in the same position it’s done originally so it sound like it, and then each person decides whether they want to put the cape or not The original which I believe was number four and don’t worry about your vocals because this is not about singing this is about teaching the guitar part. Makes sense you’re singing is secondary to teach it. Accurately positive note appreciate the effort in your tutorials, but was disappointed you did not teach this in the correct Position with the capo and not worry about whether you have to sing with it or not because we’re not interested in your vocals we’re interested in the way it was played originally

    • @fennahrob6934
      @fennahrob6934  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Don’t agree. The chord ‘shapes’ are the same with or without the capo. I made this clear in the video. Just put it at the 4th fret; what’s the problem? The guitar part in isolation, without singing, is boring and repetitive on its own and the listener would not know where they were up to in the song without a vocal. I can’t sing it when capo’s at the 4th fret; I made that clear too. To be clear; this guitar part only works with a vocal accomplishment. ✌️

    • @Billsingsong
      @Billsingsong 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@fennahrob6934 yes but people want to hear it in its original key with the capo and so do I because it sounds lot different and they want to hear it in their original form. Why did you not do it with the capo on it and not worry about having to sing with it. We’re not interested in your vocals. We’re interested in the way it sounds and its original form, it just doesn’t sound the same without the capo in its original key. That’s all I’m saying. You do a good job with your videos and they’re greatly appreciated. I’m not taking away from that. I’m just saying I was disappointed that you decided that singing it in your own key, precedence over playing it in the way it was originally intended with the capo. people are not tuning in for your vocals. They’re tuning in to hear it. See how it sounds in the original key and then they could decide to take the cable order off which you should’ve done as well. Leave it to us anyways thank you for your instructional videos.

      It’s a free lesson. Most people just want to be able to play the song, it’s not about being perfectly accurate to the original. I loved it because it’s easy enough for me as a beginner to play. It’s not always about you as an individual. I’m not shouting or attacking you btw way just giving my perspective. Each to their own.

    • @fennahrob6934
      @fennahrob6934  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just put a capo on. 🤣

    • @fennahrob6934
      @fennahrob6934  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Free lesson; paid lesson, it doesn’t matter. I teach the song to my private paying students the same way. When you’re playing a ‘song’ and not an instrumental piece, you have to play in a key that suits your voice. For example; as artists get older they lower the key to their songs in order that they can sing them. I couldn’t demonstrate this song in the original capo 4 position but the solution for those who want to play with the record is easily remedied; put the capo on. For the record though; the Mamas and Papas version is not in concert pitch and plays slightly sharp so you’d find it difficult to play along with it anyway.,👍🏻
