    My husband is Hungarian. His mother, aunt and grandparents migrated from Hungary 🇭🇺 back in the 50's. My mother-in-law has made me Chicken Paprikash. It was very tasety.

    Thank you so much for all your awesome recipes. I lost 20 lbs from Augsust 1, 2019 - sept 25 following your advices and recipes. Started at 178 lbs and I weighed myself today at 158 lbs!! I’ve never felt this good in a while. Keto taste so good and amazing because of you. Everybody in my family, friends and at work noticed my weight loss. Also, I just made your keto butter chicken wings an hour ago! Omg!! It’s heaven on a plate I can finish the whole plate in one sitting literally. Thank you again! Another recipe to add to my arsenal!     Greetings from Hungary! I'm a long time viewer of your channel now and I'm really happy that you tried gulash and paprikash (although, that's not how we spell it, but hungarian is a hard language to learn I guess, so the german spelling got wide-known instead) The oven part is unnecessary. I never heard of that. We just keep on the stove at low head until the chicken gets tender. One more addition: you can use more sour cream. There's no such thing as "too much cream". And I usually add some tomato paste as well, after the paprika. And garlic.. (tomato also thickens the sauce a little bit.) Other than that, the recipe is great!! Good job! The goose fat is the most traditional (and best) choice. Bang your heads folks! \m/
    I would suggest you more keto hungarian foods as well but I don't know how to translate them to english they are not well known foods like Csikós tokány... Tokány is a food category in hungary we have all different kinds and it's the same to us like curry is to Indians. I guess the term stew is the closest english word for that, but in reality tokány is just a type of stew and not all stews are tokány.

      Hey Adam!! Thank you for all that information. I just used the oven because I wanted to try something different but yes for chicken it's really not required it's best done on the stove. I did see some recipes with the tomato paste but the only reason I did not use it was to try and keep the carbs a bit lower and since not all the recipes I saw using I decided to leave it out for now. I am going to google all the names you have shared with me. Thank you so much!

    Finally got to cook this tonight. It was amazing! Whole family loved it. Only change I made was to serve it with some keto pasta instead of cauliflower rice.

    That moisture in the end result comes exactly from you keeping the skin, which will provide fat enough for the meat not to dry out.

    This looks delish! My Mom used to make this with dumplings. I was wondering if I could take the skin off the chicken (old habits die hard) and omit the green pepper as I'm not a fan. Definitely over cauliflower rice! Headbangers is my favorite ..you need to be on the Food Network. You've defi itely got the personality and uniqueness. They need you!

    Brilliant! I will visit the “macelliaio’ in my village tomorrow to purchase fresh chicken thighs to try this recipe. I am American woman , recently retired, and moved to Italy, permanently. My sister and I said, if Trump is President, we are leaving the US, and we did! I love my new adopted country, Italians are beautiful people. I have recently discovered TH-cam, Keto and now, You! I embraced Keto to manage my arthritis, inflammation. I am a healthy weight but keto is a great way to keep me healthy, reduce my inflammation. Your videos inspire me. Years ago I was considered a fantastic cook. At some point I lost my love for cooking, but now you inspire me to get back in the kitchen and rattle some pots and pans! I have tried several of your Hungarian recipes. Delicious. I am not well versed in Indian food, but very interested in learning more. What Indian recipe dish do you recommend I begin with? I have listened to your music, very cool. I am old enough to be your Grandmother, so I am not “hitting” on you, but you are very , very cool. Then again, I am very cool as well.

    i am from Transilvania and we make Papricas almost in every week...just try to add some thyme and garlic ..this is one of my fav recipes !

      oh lovely! I saw quite a few recipes and most were very basic like this which is why I didn't add any garlic or herbs because I thought I'd try what I thought was the original first. I actually have some fresh rosemary at home and I love garlic in everything.

    Browning equals carameilsed flavour that leaks into it later once you add the stock. It is done for exactly the same reason you brown the onions in this video, as opposed to sweating them

      @Martine cooked for 10 minutes and then let it depressurize over 20 minutes while I made other stuff.

    The browning is all about building savory flavor in your sauce and rendering a little chicken fat flavor from the skin gives a better texture. You can't accomplish that with skinless meat.
    I always just use the thighs when I'm making it. Not a fan of drumsticks. I also like to do a "paprikash" dry rub to use on baked thighs and yes, CHICKEN WINGS! I serve with tzatziki. Kind of my own modern Hungarian twist. Feel free to make it your own...

    Sahil do you know if your book will be available at Costco? It's on my Amazon list so I can always get it that way- it said available Sept 29.       Yes normal heavy whipping cream/double cream/amul cream will do.

    My grandmother was Hungarian and this makes me hungry for her Chicken Paprikash. Hers was a bit different. She used a little tomato paste and a splash of white wine in hers. I have made it without the cornstarch and thickened the sauce by reduction. I am wondering now about the carbs in the wine--keto or not? I know drinking wine is out, but can you cook with a little?

      You can drink and cook with a little wine on keto it should be fine. Depends on how liberal you are with your carbs

      @@HeadbangersKitchen I am very insulin resistant so I'm very strict with carbs. But, if I remember right, my grandma's recipe only calls for 1/4 cup for several servings and could probably be cut further. Thanks for answering. Love your videos.

      So apparently there are 3 levels and you have to click the bell till you get the drop down and select 'all notifications'

      No just reduce it on the stove top. The oven use was quite a waste.
