    The scenery, the photography is awesome !!. And we knew so little about Kyrgyzstan. Another part of this marvellous planet. What a pity it can't all be peaceful like this. I love your work guys.

    FROM A DENTIST: Tristan, Your videos are great. Your toothbrushing is not. You scrub your teeth with horizontal strokes. That only pushes the tartar and plaque around. The best way to brush is to place the brush at the gum line. Stimulate the gums with a slight back and forth motion. Then sweep the brush away from the gums with a vertical stroke. Use a soft brush and clean between the teeth with a GUM Soft Pick. Use floss to remove stubborn food particles. I am a dentist. Follow my advice and you'll keep your winning smile forever.

    Hi Tristan & Belen! Great video!
    A little heads up - please don't wash things, shower in the stream if you can. People drink this water. Unless you cannot avoid...

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! It’s nice of you to point out, but every person living rurally in Kyrgyzstan washes dishes, bathes or let’s their kids play in these streams and nobody minds it. It’s the way water is handled in this country. You should come ride here to see for yourself!

    "Some sort of hot water with a bit of pressure" sounds like a blessing after such challenging rides, haha! Beautiful video. How many water bottles do you ride with?

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, haha! I’ll take anything out there. We ride with 6 Bivo bottles total, plus a big 1.5L chunker. We also carry an Ortlieb 8L water bag in case we need a bit more, which stores in one of our bags or strapped on the rear panniers.

  • @biskero
    @biskero 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    great videos !! which water bag that acts as shower and filtration system are you using?

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! We’re using the Ortlieb water bag, the model with the standard cap, I believe it’s the 8L version. The water filter is from Sawyer, I think it’s called the Micro Filter!

    Hi, thanks a lot for the excellent videos!
    Some questions:
    1.
    Is it easy to buy alcohol fuel all over the Kyrgyzstan, even in small villages?
    2.
    How about butane gases? Also available everywhere?
    Thanks!

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! 1) depends on if there is a pharmacy or utility shop. Generally, you can find it in most large villages, just the terms ‘white spirit’, ‘ethanol’ or ‘isopropyl’ in Russian and ask the locals. 2) I suppose you mean butane gas in a canister? Those you can buy in outdoor- or bike shops in Bishkek, as well as hostels around the country (the more outdoor tourist culture a place has, the better your chances).

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your kind comment and motivation! The metal water bottles are from Bivo, and we really enjoy using them! We use the smaller ones that hold around 550ml.

    Hi Tristan, as always stunning video!! 😍 I’ve been doing some touring on my road bike but I’m looking to get an all terrain pinion bike for my next adventures ☺️ my question to you is about your gear..I’m used to cycling in bibs with the pads. I’m wondering if you wear padded shorts on the bike? Or regular shorts with padded underwear under it? I’d love to not have to rely on a bib as I want to ride in regular shorts when I go Bikepacking but I just don’t know if it’d be comfortable to do so 🤔 thank you so much!

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! You’re gonna love the Outback, or any other TT bike if you choose a different one! As for your question, I don’t use bibs on the bike, but I also don’t cycle huge distances. That trade-off is something you need to find your own balance in, which will make your bikepacking experience so much nicer! Take enough breaks, don’t ride the kms other people think you should ride and most of all… test out a few saddles to find out which one fits you best!

    • @patrickmurray7879
      @patrickmurray7879 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tristanbogaard Tristan, thank you very much for your reply! That makes a lot of sense. I definitely excited for more Bikepacking trips ☺️ I’m actually going to Germany at the end of November to check out the Outback in person. What are your thoughts on the pinion gearbox so far? My only worry is that if I run into any problems I won’t have anyone here (in Ireland) to help me with the issue..having said that, I’ve also been told that servicing the bike myself (oil change, cable change, etc) shouldn’t be too difficult 🤔

    Do you think this route is possible with 700x45c tires? :)

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory it’s possible on tires much narrower than that! But you should be fine, as long as you’re ok with a bit less comfort on the bumps and washboard.

    I very much like your videos and have watched many. You both look great and you're a lovely couple! However, there's one thing I do not understand: why do you wear helmets during the intro or for example while setting up your tent? Is it advertising the helmets? It's not! It looks really awkward and makes me cringe. Nothing wrong with a helmet while cycling, but you know, maybe just take it off at some point?

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s great to hear. As for our helmets, I often forget to take mine off, and prefer to wear it for the intro since it makes it very clear that we’re going to cycle. No ad, just fun 👍🏼
